I need to downscale whole assembly if its possible. If not, its no problem for me to downscale every single part separately (apx. 30pcs) and then put it together again but I need to downscale it with all its modeling history - sketches, planes and other geometry. I can't select them when using DERIVE function.
View 9 RepliesAny time I create a new sketch in my assemblies, all of a sudden every existing work plane toggles from "invisible" to "visible".
In small assemblies, this is fine, but in 100+ part assemblies, it is a major headache. I don't want to turn off work planes every time I make a new sketch.
Is there any way to disable this "feature"?
Is there anyway to batch-process a load of parts and assemblies to turn off work planes, sketches etc in the master design view rep?
I'm aware of the Object Visibility feature but I want them turned off in the model tree.
projected geometry not updating between sketches in inventor 2013. I hope this will be fixed in 2013 sp1. I have noticed it happening alot when I project a line of another sketch that makes a single point in my new sketch. once the original skecth is changed the second one doesnt update sometimes. It doesnt do this 100 percent of the time just when I need to get stuff done.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using projected and sketched geometry (2D sketches) in assembly space to create lines/ points that I intend to use to define planes and axes. The problem I have is that nearly all the geometry I create (lines and points in 2D sketches) is not "selectable" when I try to create planes or axes. I cannot even put a work points "on top of" my sketch points. Why are my sketches not usable in the assembly space? Since the components in my model are just two extruded rings I don't have any linear edges I can select to make this work/ define planes.

For example; you'd insert the part and you'd pick the two planes that you want to be flush constrained but the 3rd plane you'd constrain yourself.

I have for instance a template part with a top view sketch and a template part with a side view sketch.
Mostly I can use one of these template parts to derive my parts.
But now I want to creat a part that needs both the top view and side view sketches. So I need to derive from two different parts.
I'm editing a solid body part file.
I've made all sketches and workplanes etc not visible.
When i edit a sketch down the tree, obviously the sketch becomes visible but the problem I have is some other sketches and workplanes also become visible.
Mirroring a part or assembly in 2014 makes the derived part with all sketches visibility on, nevertheless the original sketches visibility is off.

Is it treatable?
Having problems with parts of their model not showing up after going through the AEC exchange to the adsk file then open it up in Revit architecture? Or some wild geometry from a part sticking out 20 or 30 feet out into space? It seems that if you create a part one way it doesn't do well in the conversion process while creating the same part another way or a different sequence it's ok with it. (using Inventor 2011 and viewing in Revit 2012)

Can I link faces within an assembly to one of the assembly components.
I want to create a structure using the attached part geometry, what would be the best way to make the crosses coincident with the two long columns? (just like the 2 at the top but without having to manually trim each line, if it could be constrained to variable parameters even better)
The structure has the same geometry on all four sides so i intend to circular patern the frame generator components around the Z axis, any better workflows?
In our drawing file we expose the mass of the part. So I have set the 'Update physical properties on save' in the 'Application Options'. This works fine when you save your file before switching to the drawing file. If you forget to save and go to the drawing file the mass is showed as: N/A.
Therefore I have created a rule which updates the mass of the part. This rule is activated with the 'Part Geometry Change' event trigger. This is done to update the mass in the drawing file even when the partfile is not saved. This works fine. If I make any changes to the model the mass is updated correct, EXCEPT for deleting features. When I delete a feature and switch to the drawing file the mass is shown as N/A again. So apparently deletion of any feature is not recognized as a 'Part Geometry Change' because the rule isn't triggered.
Using acad 10 I just start using annotative styles now, so far in order to detail a part I use to actually copy the geometry, change styles and scale and start detailing.
The problem is that often when Im detailing and annotating a part I need it to be clipped.
Is there any way to tell autocad that in scale 1:25 I don’t want to see all the structure but only a specific area of it(clipped inside a rectangle)
Also, I'm having a hard time completely constraining copy 2D sketches. What Inventor requires to constrain a 2D sketch?

1. created a turbine whose blades are made from some planes that I applied thicken offset command. I applied circular pattern to multiply the blade around center point but i get too many planes and i must to make invisible each one. How can i make invisible all planes in the same time.
2. After i make them invisibile i exit from that part but when i start that part again or when i place it in an assembly all planes are visible. What should i do to make them invisible for ever.
What instances is it necessary to combine 3d sketches with 2d sketches, I have used this combination a few times where I have to build rectangular frames then apply frame generator to the sketches to construct the frame members. I was told when I originally had training on Inventor 2013 that 3d sketches should be avoided where possible.

I have went through the browser and checked all the parts to see if something is out there, nothing. I have set auto-resize on origin planes and yet these are large.

I just installed inventor. When I begin a part there is no display of the planes, only the corner indicators show up when I hover over a plane. Also, when a part is created, only the edges show up when I hover over them.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the following (somewhat philosophical) question: what is the concept of assembly sketches? As far as I can see (and what I use it for) is the following: an element of my design can be constructed from several parts, which are first machined with some margins, interfaces for welding, etc. Then they are mounted/welded/brazed together, and the final piece is constructed by post-machining the mounted (welded/brased/etc) assembly. Assembly sketches drive these features.
When I first got in contact with assembly sketches, I believed they can be used to positioning parts in the assembly: create a sketch, very easily and quickly draw lines/points/etc which serve as anchor points for the parts, and then constrain the parts to these lines/points/etc. But this does not work - whereas I would find it sometimes useful.
In a part file is it possible to find the adaptive workplanes used to create extrusion1. And then find if the two workplanes are at an angle with respect to the origin planes.
Have been looking for a while but it seems hard to find information on workplanes
I've been making a model plane model in inventor 2012 from imported IGES geometry, and Realised that my sketches were not assigned to any part (and thus can't be lofted). Is there any way of moving the sketches to the newly created part without redrawing everything? I've tried dragging and dropping because it seemed to make sense, but alas, that had no success.

Isn't this an important part of sketches? Why would I not be able to project a work plane.
Cannot project any w-planes whether default or created in inv2013.
Quite often we cretae schematic line drawings for clients approval before creating full 3D models for production. Is it possible to achieve this in Inventor and maybe go on to use the sketches as a master filoe to drive the design? Or should I continue to get approval based in AutoCAD and then switch over to Inventor?
