AutoCAD Inventor :: Turns Mirrored Part Sketches Visibility On

Nov 7, 2013

Mirroring a part or assembly in 2014 makes the derived part with all sketches visibility on, nevertheless the original sketches visibility is off.

It makes me sick switching them down.

Is it treatable?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Unable To Make Mirrored Copy Of Part Created By Altering Standard Part

Apr 1, 2013

I have created the part based on piece of standard angle taken from library. Now I want to make a mirrored copy of this part by Component-Mirror.

Inventor does not let me do it with standard part.

The question is: How I can transform a standard part to normal one, I mean I could get rid of belonging to standard part? Making a copy does not work. The only way is to derive and mirror this part but I wish there could be easy way.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Mirrored Part Gets New Part Number In Assembly

AutoCAD Inventor :: Visibility Of All Workplans And Sketches

Jul 24, 2012

As I learn more about Inventor I have been doing more and more skeletal modeling. It work well for what we build here. But the biggest problem is the visibility of all the workplans and sketches. I know of the buttons to turn them on and off, but everytime I make a sketch and edit a sketch, inventor default turns all of them on. Making it impossible to see what you are working in the assembly enviroment. Not only that, it bogs down my machine untill I turn them off. Same goes for workplanes, if I create one the rest appear.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Drawing Of A Mirrored Part

Dec 20, 2011

I have a sheet metal part with a fully dimensioned drawing made for it. I then make a mirrored (derived) part out of the original. Is there an easy way to get a fully dimensioned drawing of that mirrored part?

I have tried making a copy of the original parts drawing and then replacing the model that is referenced in the drawing but that just gets me a drawing with a bunch of pink dimensions and I have to drag all the dimension points to reattach them.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Edit Mirrored Part Parent?

Oct 10, 2012

I was wondering if there is a way that a mirrored part can be redefined. Problem I have is that after renaming the parts in the assembly the mirror will no longer update and references the original part before being renamed. I can't seem to find a way to redefine this so my mirrored part will update. To date I have been deleteing out the mirrored parts and creating them again.

AutoCAD Inventor :: 2013 Sheet Metal Flat On Mirrored Part

Aug 22, 2013

I have a sheet metal IPT that I saved, then did a saveas and saved as a different file name.  I then took the part in the new IPT and did a mirror on the part.  I chose the second "Mirror a Solid" option in the mirror dialog box, and clicked "Remove Original".  Now that I'm at this part, when I try to make a flat patten of the new mirrored part, all I get are the bend and center lines of the part, not the internal and external lines that I can export for use in water/laser cutting.

I was wondering if I was doing something wrong in order to make this work.  In looking through the forums I have seen people say not to use the mirror command in an assembly and create a derived part because that has issues, but I did this in an IPT, not an IAM.  I have also read to make sure that the Sheet Metal Defaults are set the same, but I believe that they are talking about the derived part from an IAM drawing.  All the same, I have checked my Sheet Metal Defaults and they are all the same, and in fact I tried updating them to see if it would still change the part, and it did.  I was able to make my part other thicknesses and it updates the part as per the norm.

I am using Inventor 2013 Professional, if it matters at all. I have also attached a couple of picture files showing the part folded and how it looks to me when I go to the flat pattern.

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Derive Part From Two Other Parts (sketches)

Aug 12, 2013

I often use a number of parts with only one sketch in them as templates for other parts.

I have for instance a template part with a top view sketch and a template part with a side view sketch.

Mostly I can use one of these template parts to derive my parts.

But now I want to creat a part that needs both the top view and side view sketches. So I need to derive from two different parts.

AutoCAD Inventor :: 2009 - Flat Pattern From Derived Mirrored Sheet Metal Part

Sep 17, 2009

I created a sheet metal part with multi-edge flanges; the part unfolded no problem. Now, I need an exact, mirrored copy of that part [new part number]. My first attempt was a mirrored component at the assembly level. The part was mirrored but it would not unfold. My next attempt was a derived part with the mirrored option selected. This part, too, was mirrored but would not unfold either.

"In sheet metal parts, mirroring flanges or contour flanges created using multi-edge select is not supported." Is this why the flat pattern fails?

Is there a workaround? I'd hate to create the mirrored part from scratch when I all need is reverse bends.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Part Or Assembly Automatically Turns Textures Back Off

Jan 7, 2013

I had with a custom texture not showing up on my parts while they were showing up on a coworkers computer fine.  I recently cured my own issue (I just needed to click Textures On in the View toolbar under Appearances).  I am thinking it is going to be a simple fix as well but I have not been able to find it.

Everytime I close out of a part or assembly it automatically turns the textures back off so I have to turn them on everytime.  I looked through the Application Options and Document settings to keep textures turned on but could not find anything. How to turn the textures on and leave them on?

AutoCAD Inventor :: IPN Part Visibility

Jul 27, 2012

The client I have has 1 seat of factory Ultimate and 8 seats of factory premium.

The issue is the premium seats have an issue when you turn the visibility off on a part in the IPN you cannot turn it back on. This is on all the seats of the premium. There is no issue with Ultimate.

The service pack did not fix the issue. Now I know Autodesk there will never be a fix for this unless I up-grade seems to be the Autodesk way in the past 3 years.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Reference Part Visibility

Jun 25, 2013

I am working on an assembly and idw, and my assembly has a number of reference parts in it. Two patterns of reference parts are not appearing in the idw for some reason.

I can get them to appear by changing the view style to show hidden lines, and then the hidden lines appear and solid lines for all except the first instances also appear. When i turn off hidden lines, the hidden lines disappear leaving the solid lines of all but the first instances. Then if i change the reference data line style to try and show all the lines, they all now disappear again.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Using A Rule To Toggle Part Visibility

Jun 12, 2012

I have a simple Assembly for a Frame that I made with Frame Generator. I'd like to use a rule to toggle the visible of some of the framing members.

In the sub assembly (called Frame0001:1) I created a rule:

(I have a variable called LeftAngle, and the bar I want to toggle is called Bar1.)

If LeftAngle = 90 then
Component.Visible("Bar1") = False
Else
Component.Visible("Bar1") = True
End If

I am sure this is VERY basic, but I can't get it to do anything. There is no error message - just nothing happens.

I know the rule is running though - it will change other parameters in response to the If Then statement.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Part Visibility Under Transparent Components?

Aug 9, 2011

I am having an issue with the visibility of components underneath other, transparent components.  The part which needs to be visible is a switch underneath a vacuum formed polycarbonate cover.  When the cover is positioned open such that the switch would be partly visible even if the cover is opaque, the switch is rendered.  When the cover is positioned closed, the switch is no longer rendered.  I have attached JPG's of the two states.

I am on INV PDSU 2012 64 bit.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Step Through Part Dimension Visibility?

May 19, 2013

I have been trying to sequentially show (and then hide) the dimensions for each feature (together with  its related sketch dimensions)  in a part browser tree.

I can set the visibility for any one of the sketches with e.g.

oSketches.Item(1).Visible = True
oSketches.Item(1).DimensionsVisible = True 'Show sketch dimension

and show the visibilty of the feature dims with e.g.

Set oFeature = odef.Features.Item(1)
oFeature.FeatureDimensions.Show  'Show feature dimension

but I cannot work out how to test which feature a particular sketch is dependent upon. Until I do this the visibiliy

of the feature and sketch dimensions cannot be synchronised.

I expected something like

If odef.Features.Item(1) = oSketch.Parent might work or maybe the  Isownedby function but so far I have had no luck with anything I have tried.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Presentation Part Visibility In Sequences

Oct 10, 2013

I'm creating an exploded view presentation of a large assembly. I understand that when sequences are created, the parts that are hidden at the time are added to the Hidden folder of that sequence. But since I had to work back and forth between sequences to tweak the order, I want to hide some parts that I just added and that belong to a previous sequence. The part is now randomnly hanging in space when the camera angle is trying to show another part of the assembly. How can I make parts hidden for some sequences but not other? There's no option to hide parts, only to unhide them from the Hidden folder. BTW, using Inventor Pro 2012.

Look at picture to better understand the question.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Mirrored Assemblies That Update With Changes To The Original?

Mar 7, 2013

I have a complex assembly where I would like to insert a mirror image of it into my project. Some of the parts in the mirror image are truly mirror images of the corresponding parts in the original, while some don't need to be. However, I don't mind if all parts are mirrored. The thing I really want to achieve is to have the mirrored assembly UPDATE when the original changes. Is this possible?

My alternative is to delete, re-mirror the original, and re-constrain each time I change the original. That seems sub-optimal.
