How are arrowhead attachment locations calculated when using the Automatic Balloon command? Arrowheads seem to attached to objects at rather strange places!
I normally use auto-ballooning to place balloons within a drawing and then "season to taste". Is there a way to control how and where the arrowhead gets attached to an object?
If we can access the Auto Balloon Command using Inventor Drawing API.

Lets say for e.g. that I have 12 parts within an assembly, once auto balloon has done it’s job you notice that No. 9 balloon is blank and No. 10 balloon only shows 1 and not 10.
I can not auto balloon an ipn view in a idw file? I can select the view to auto balloon but can not select any parts.

I'm trying to create a macro which will attach a custom sketched symbol with a leader to some specific parts in a view. By modifying some sample code I managed to create a macro which will attach the sketched symbol to the currently selected edge (see code below). However I would like to select the view and let the code cycle trough all the parts and check the filename or a custom iProperty. If the filename has a certain pattern or a specific custom iProperty exists it should add the sketched symbol. I don't really see how I should do this, I can get a reference to the selected view and as far as I can see I can use the referencedfiledescripter to open the assembly and cycle through the occurences. However I don't see how I can use this to add the sketched symbol to the occurence in the drawing view.

This is for CS4. I want to apply two arrowheads of different sizes to one end and the other end of a line. This is not possible with CS4 under "Add Arrowhead" where the size of the arrowhead (Scale) applies to both the Start and End arrowheads.Illustrator allows to apply several instances of an effect to an object. So I apply one instance of "Add Arrowheads" for the Start end with a given arrowhead Scale (size of arrowhead), and another instance of "Add Arrowheads" for the other End with a different Scale. The second "Add Arrowheads" instance of the effect does not behave at all as expected (it adds two "disfigured" arrowheads even though I ask for one arrowhead only).How can I use two working instances of "Add Arrowheads" to reach my goal?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have created a SketchLine entity and trying to add aligned dimension by calling DimensionConstraints::AddTwoPointDistance(). It adds the dimension with inside arrowhead (see attached CurrentWorking.jpg), however, it would be nice if the dimension is added with outside arrowhead (see attached Expected.jpg).
if there is any API to toggle the dimension arrowhead accordingly.
In the attached file there is a User Parameter, "Antal_ledekasser". Inventor has calculated its value to 2.
If you do the math by hand then you see the value should be 5.
Rebuild doesn't force recalculation.
There is an iLogic rule in the part, but this also fails to force recalculation:

Manual work around is to change the formula, then the value is recalculated.
iLogic work around is to change a parameter-value - and run the rule TWICE.
Question: How do I force a real rebuild, that actually wil recalculate parameter-values the first time I run the iLogic rule?
Background: The attached file is a little subset of the skeleton in a large assembly that is controlled by iLogic. The rules are placed in the topassembly, and writes vaules to the skeleton-file.
After writing values to skeleton-parameters I try to force them through with this iLogic

Later in the process I use calculated values to decide which components should be active. But my logic fails because my decisions are made on faulty values.
I did manage to get the updating work in 2011. But after migrating to 2012, it seems impossible to have it update correct. The user has to run rules several times, and doing manually updates to get a correct model.
How the mass moment of inertia (kgcm2) is calculated in inventor?
It says it is calculated using negative integral, however i dont find this very informative.
I used the data for a report, and need to justify how i got the center of gravity and inertia properties.

I am new to using Tool Palettes. I have created a folder on my C: drive which contains all my tool palettes. Right now, I get the symbol of a circle with a line drawn through it and cannot use my tool palettes.
In the Options tab, I noticed that there are the "Tool Palettes File Locations" and also "Authoring Palette File Locations". What is the difference between the two? Do I need to do something to both so I can use my tool palettes without difficulty?
I would like to make use of " find in feature tree" feature, but in DWG mode; Right clicking instead in BOM on part # and showing (highlighting) the balloon in the DWG so you know where it is that you put your balloon.

I have the filler material setup as a custom part. I can also create a sketched symbol for this, but it doesn't appear that they would accept it either.

It works great unless the item on the additional sheet is a sub-assembly. I believe it is because PartDef is declared as a PartComponentDefinition and there is nothing in the code to handle an assembly.

The Set partDef line was giving me a runtime error when it came to an assembly in the BOM until I added
"On Error Resume Next" at the start of the loop.
I tried changing the declaration to ComponentDefinition. It compiled fine, but didn't do anything. I think I'll have to add some duplicate code to handle an assembly in the BOM. Is there a better way to do this? Am I even on the right track?
How do I attach text to a balloon? For example, I want to add the text "2X" alongside the balloon to denote that there are 2 instances of this part.
I can't believe that you need to make a text box each and every time you need to do this! There has to be a simpler way.
If a balloon style is set to "Linear" the text in that balloon is automatically left aligned. If a balloon style is set to "None" the text in that balloon is automatically center aligned.
Is it possible to create a balloon with the balloon style set to "None", and have the text left aligned in a drawing document. Typically the balloon text is more that one line . The new line in inserted by pressing ctrl+Enter in the override value of the balloon.
I dont know if this is possible but what i am trying to do is create a custom detail ballon & outline similar to what is attached. this is how our client wants it to look & currently we create the detail & then sketch the outline & add a sketched symbol which has the identifier. We then turn off the detail layer which has the default outline.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using balloons to get information from parts, then writing that part info to a custom table. I need to keep track of which balloon corresponds to which table row.
Is there some object/property of Balloon where I can store a single number or string? I'm already using the value field, so that's unavailable to me.
Also, one balloon corresponds to one table entry. That means I cannot create a custom iProperty in the part the balloon is attached to since more than one balloon may reference the same part.

How do I set up the templates in 2013? we just migrated from 2012 and now some of the templates are not showing up. When we installed the vault we created a drive that the vault resides in. The templates also reside on this drive but outside of the vault. in 2012 when I selected the icon to create a new part/assy/drawing I would get the following drop down menu:
now in 2013 we have a new and imporved splash screen with more options, I think:
However as you can see, there is nothing to choose. If I use the drop down arrow this work, but not much as I have the 4 standard part, assy, drawing and project icons appear. We have used the options menu and changed the file search paths to point to our template folder but we still do not have any options in the new menu and the drop still does not show options for sheetmetal or square parts. The drawing does open with the correct template though. I have also opened each template in 2013 and saved it so it should be migrated to the new format. but that has not worked. How to set up the new splash menu to work?

I'm trying find some code that will allow me to save a PDF in 2 different locations.
I want to save a copy on my C: drive - this part has been done, but I'd like the code expanded to save a copy on the F: drive (under a similar path to that on the C: drive.
For example, for drawing XXX-XXX.dwg (C:Vault WorkspaceCADSalesEnquiries201313-XXXDrawings), I would like a PDF created in C:Vault WorkspaceCADSalesEnquiries201313-XXXDrawingsPDF (this part has been done) and i would also like a copy saved in F:SalesEnquiries201313-XXXDrawingsPDF.
I do not know which will be easier; to create 2 PDFs, or create 1 and copy it to F:

The problem is balloon from single component must change manually for synchrone with Part List. If number changed in part list sometimes I forgot for change balloon. So it's become miss match between balloon and part list. How to make this become synchron.

I am trying to get the balloons equidistant from each other and on the same horizontal "line", however when I try to place some balloons, I can not select the correct placement. The balloon is effectively acting like trying to put two magnets with the same polarity together... I just can't get it in the right place.
