AutoCAD Inventor :: How About Setting Parameters So Four Columns Show In A Boom
Jun 5, 2012
How about setting parameters so these four columns show in a boom: Width ft., Width in., Length ft., Length in. Also, how about getting the bom to show surface square footage for coating purposes?
I would like my parameters to show in Description tab in BOM. Although I marked the for export I only see them in iprop.
How can use them in the create expression in BOM and add them to the part list later.Right now I dontsee them if I want to creat an expressin in the BOM
in iParts factory I would like to create part ## by setting common name and adding to it different values drawn from part parameters.
Please refer to attached image – common name in that example would be “DRILL” and description of the diameter and length automatically taken from parameters in columns “DRILL_D” & “INSERT_L”.
I've used the attached code to set the number of colu9mns and rows in a table adn it works with all my tests.
However I also receive the warnings:
"Public overridable property NumRows() As Integer is obsolete. Use 'Table.Rows.Count' instead"
and
"Public overridable property NumColumns() As Integer is obsolete. Use 'Table.Columns.Count' instead" Dim tb As New Table() tb.NumRows = 6 tb.NumColumns = 3
Both the Rows and Column Count property are Read only.
I am working in one assembly. in that assembly i created all the part with using i part & same part i called in to the assembly & created i assembly. while creating drawing i have facing problem to show the model parameters in to the assembly drawing table. How to link the model parameters in assembly parameters with using i assembly.
I am using parameters from a .ipt file to display dimensional information on a drawing file I have created (the fields colored red are the parameters it is reading). How do I get them to display as fractions instead of decimal? I want it to read 5"1/2 instead of 5.5", for instance. I have tried inputting them as fractions in the parameters dialog in the part file, but no luck, they still come out as decimal.
I have an iPart that I have created parameters to perform some basic calcs so the values will show up on every member. The parameters are correct for the different member so it appears to be working correctly on the model side. For example I have a parameter called 'CutLength' that performs simple math functions. But when I make the table on the drawing and I include this parameter, I see the formula in the table instead of the value. Is there a way I can have it display the value instead of the equation?
The acquaintance with new 2012 Inventor gave several tiny but annoying problems.
The lighting settings is not so good as 2011 and requires alterations. The View - Lighting setting is always turns to Two Light instead of desired Default. The question is how to permanently set it to desired setting in ALL project? When I create the new lighting style it is visible only in that file. How to make it visible and set by default in other files? [URL]
New 2012 has option of showing the name of part or assembly while cursor stops hovering over the object. Is it any time setting of duration of that option? It is quite annoying waiting for turning off or shutting down unwanted show up. It also either work or not work at all.
1) Why structural columns don't show up in architectural plans. The only way I can see to coordinate the structure with the architectural elements is to use structural plans.
2) How to make structural columns visible in architectural plans? I've tried the visibility graphics but everything seems to be turned on by default.
I am new to rigging! I have the hook working how i want, it is just getting the boom cable and arm to work that is giving me trouble (they create the triangle you can see in the images). I just need it so that if i rotate the arm then in pulls the cable, which in turn pulls the end of the boom, while keeping the other end of the boom fixed (the cable doesn't change length, it is always in tension). I have been messing around with IK solvers but i really don't have enough time to mess around with trial and error!
Is there a way to get columns in form? I would like to put
Hole F Type { List the types} Hole F Location {input box} Hole N Type { List the types} Hole N Location {input box} Hole G Type { List the types} Hole G Location {input box}
I'm doing a revision rearrangement and would like to add to the BOM New, Existing, and Relocated properties. The problem is that each individual component may be unique. Ie. I have a desk w/ 3 identical monitors. One monitor is existing and the others are new. I'd like to have the BOM show that I have 3 monitors, 2 are new and 1 is existing. The BOM would have 4 columns, one for the total number of parts and 3 for the New, Existing, and Relocated counts.
I don't mind if the new columns need to be manually updated.
Is there a way to set the decimal place for the columns in Autodesk Inventor 2011? I have a length column I am trying to use for the p/n but I need it to be 2 places and they show up from zero to 4 dec places. I have set it inside excel but it never retains the setting.
Is there any way that values in BOM columns would automatically change depending on the characteristics of the part?
Example:
I have a parametric metal rod that depending on its length has a different part number assigned to it in our company's catalog.
When I change its length in parametric assembly (50" rod is has different number than 70" rod) I want the part number to change as well in the "part number" column.
I got this routine off the In The Trenches blog and am trying to change it, some. For some reason when I export I can only get 4 columns to export. So what the heck am I missing here? The Part List I am using has all the colums I am trying to export on it.

Is there is any way to re-arrange the columns in my ipart table without having to delete all of my parameters and then adding them back in the order that I want them to appear in? I would like certain information grouped together instead of having to scroll back and forth across the row to edit certain parameters.
I would like to be able to export the description column of a BOM to an excel file, and exclude all the other data. I can't see any reference to doing this in the API. We have almost 20 columns so deleting them once the file is made is a bit of a pain.
I have an iPart with 10 key columns that I published to the Content Center. During the publishing process I can only select 9 of those key columns and I can't add a 10th. I need to get that 10th one in there. why there is a limit or how to get aroud it?
I noticed on my parts list that I had an item that was listed as *Varies* in the description, and part # columns I have set. Seen it before, so I went to my BOM and saw that it's a part that I've published to the CC.
Thought, OK, go and replace the 12 parts that I needed to. Tried the "Replace All" and it still came up on my BOM as *Varies*.
Went through and replaced each part in the assembly one at a time. Still shows up in BOM as *Varies*.
I thought that when I publish parts to the CC, they become Read-Only, and I can't edit any of the iProperties or the part itself.
In the attached BMP, I've cut out the offending row in my BOM. All the columns are greyed out to where I can't edit anything, as designed...
Why would these published parts come up as *Varies* in 2 of my columns if the values I've set when I published them would never change??

I am not a regular user of the Inventor General Table. I can make and edit the table with no problems. I want to eliminate the lines from one of the columns while leaving the lines in the remaining columns. I tried to set up the column before inserting it but could not find the column format that would allow me to do that in the Style Editor.
How to do this. I need to also remove the (read only) from the Style Editor.
How do I set the animation graph in Axis FX to show only those parameters that have been modified ? Currently takes me a while to locate the parameters that I want to tweak.
I have a situation where I need to add additional columns to a parts list.
These columns will not be a standard inventor column option, I need to put a specific number for reference in that column.
I start by double clicking on the parts list to bring up the editing option. Then I click on "Column Chooser" where I can personalize the parts list.
There is an option to add a "blank" column, which is great, but I need to add more than one.
Every time i add the "blank" column it disappears from the "Available Properties" it goes to the "Selected Properties" side and then when I click on "New Property" to add another "blank" column, it wont let me.
When trying to add the new property I am pressing the "space bar" key in order to leave it blank, but it just wont show as an "add" option in the "aAvailable Properties" section.
The reason I am not typing in the specific numbers is because I want them to be vertical and not horizontal - this saves me space on the drawing.
I've done this before, yet I cannot duplicate what I've done in the past and it's driving me insane.
I am creating columns and beams for a power plant and a few of my assemblies that I have drawn in thus have a reverse - is there an easy way to reverse the assembly?
Having problems with the updated new file dialog and I'm not talking personal problems. I switched it to detail view and widened up the name column so I could see the whole name. I could actually live with that setup however the next time I opened the new file dialog all the columns returned to their default size and the sort also reverted.
Is it just me or does the new file dialog not remember any changes to it's layout?
I received specific menu choices for Color Settings from a commercial printer I use. I went to Edit<Color Settings and saved them as a .csf file in User/Library/Applications Support/Adobe/Color/Settings. I named the .csf file after the printer. When I go back into Edit<Color Settings and open the Settings menu I am able to choose the settings I saved from the list of settings. Now I open an image in PhotoShop and go to Edit<Convert to Profile.
In the dialog box I open the Profile menu, but the settings I saved in Edit<Color Setting are not one of the Profile choices. Am I confusing Setting and Profiles? How do I Convert an image file to the setting given me by the printer? I also wanted to proof as per the printer's settings. When I go to View<Proof setup<Custom I can choose Working CMYK Web Coated SWOP 2006 Grade 3 Paper, which is generally the profile this printer is using. But I can't choice my specific color settings saved under the printer's that I previously saved in Edit<Color Settings. In the Proof Setup dialog box when I press the load button I can navigate to the Settings folder where my .csf file is saved, but it is greyed-out so I can't choose it.
When a new blank file is created at given dimensions ( say 6 x 4 inches) the actual dimensions on screen and the ruler appear approx. 1.333 times smaller than the actual size ( 4.5 x 3 inches ) .How can I correct this?
Im wondering if its possible to link either a constraint dimension to an action parameter or vice versa. Or using a linear parameter's value in an user parameter formula.
Its a 2D cylinder, for winding purposes we just have a rectangle, with a distance from the Y axis for radial.
Parametric dimensions: B=thickness, C=Lenght, R=radius User parameter: A=Diameter (R*2), Mass in kg ((((pi*(c*b))*(A+B))*1.25)/1000)/1000
For the BOM, i need A, B, C & mass
For drawing references for peoples on the floor, to distinquish a cylinder from a stick, we put lines at the top and bottom of the cylinder, 1mm distance inbetween them.
I figured that making a linear parameter + stretch on the thickness to replace the B parametric dimension, allowed me to make an array of that line, with increments of 1mm as i stretch the cylinder. The thing is that the mass formula cant take the value of action parameters....
Other alternative is to keep the B parametric dimension, and add a linear parameter as above for the array. But then i have 2 places to adjust, and from a test i made, if i change the R dimension, the linear one does not follow. Its very frustrating.
What i was hoping autocad would be able to do is distance1 for array to be same as B dimension, but it does not allow me to do that, unless im missing something.
