Can we add guide lines to surface patch boundary ?
I dont see any guide line option. The only options are G0,G1 & G2 continuty.

I'm having problems creating a boundary patch on the attached model, Its a Y-Pipe joint in 3 planes that I'm attempting to split in half. I've used a silhouette curve to create a centre line in a 3d sketch then joined the ends together, however when I try to select the lines to create the boundary patch it only allows me to select some not all of the lines.

I just made my diagonal guides with a top layer and drawing with a small white brush... but it would still be nice to know if diagonal guides can be created.
How can I add a layer of horizontal and vertical guide lines? I can't seem to find that option.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I've been creating a building and I can't seem to get rid of (or hide) the lines that make up the edges of my surfaces (or solid) in the animation view. Is this typical?
For instance, I have one side of the building that is using 4 different textures all on the same plane and they butt up to one another (example: brick meets siding). Where these two surfaces meet the lines that makes up the edges of the surface won't go away. Thus always showing white line showing the boundaries o the individual surfaces.
Can I turn these off, hide them, or am I being a total 3D Modeling noob and missing something basic?
I've playing around trying to write a macro that with the click of one button will remove all my guidelines, not hide them, delete them. I can't seem to make it work.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI must have hit some type of command on my keyboard but now my anchor points and intersect guides have disappeared that would normally appear when I roll my mouse over the anchor point or the intersecting paths. I have hit Ctrl + H as well as went to the menu manually and my edges are showing. How do I turn back on this ability to see my anchor points and intersecting lines guide in Illustrator?

I have a problem when exporting to pdf, i get grey boundary lines from some selections i have made and filled with white color. The bagground is white, so that's not the problem.
The funny thing is, when exporting to any other image type, i don't get the lines, it's only with pdf.
i need to know if there is any way to control the points in the point cloud.
1. either only import the point cloud in a polyline area i specify
2. add all the points within a boundary not limited to the pointclouddensity = 100, freaking default is 15 almost cost my job today. extremely stressed out right now.
i am talking about extreme lidar surveys. 1km 1km LAS/0.5m contours/xyz files times 355 of them. covers a 2km wide corridor. but i only need 100m wide after i define the road alignment. no need to have all the extra points.
right now i densify the heck out of it and end up like 5-12m points. decent but not good enough because the geotech is bitching about that accuracy is not good for some feasibility study. or is there any software i can do this besides civil 3d.
what i want can also do is automate the 'add points to surface" under point cloud and have the software do multiple boundaries without having me baby it over the night. right now every click is 5 minutes and adds like 400k to 1 million points. Civil 3D 2012
I am making a business card in Illustrator 6.
I placed an image of my black signature with transparent background on the white background business card, and now it is leaving a box were that signature image canvas ends. This happens with both a .psd and .pnd files.
Now if I could just go into photoshop and extend the canvas and leave the image the same size that would be great. When I try to do this though there is still the old canvas boundary line.
If I was able to start all over I would have had the original canvas size way wider than the image of my signature that I drew on it. That way it's boundaries would now be outside of my business cards boundries and I would not be seeing those black boundary lines.
am using Inventor 2012. Is there any way to select two rails when sweeping? One for the x and one for the y. I can only select one rail. If I choose Profile Scaling X & Y, it does not sweep the way I want to.

It generates a 3D spline, guide rail, and tool profile, but we're having trouble figuring out how to do the actual "sweep with guide rail" using the API.
Attached is an .ipt of the shapes our program is generating automatically. The problem is we are having to manually create the sweep after the geometry is created.
How can we automate the sweep with guide rail process?

I encountered problem when using sweep (path&guide surface)
It was enable to give you preview option (which is a surface that i wanted) but when i hit OK. It gives error as the text box.I tried again to no avail.
How to draw filled region boundary lines that show up in any color other than gray? it is hard to distinguish the lines I am drawing from the lines that are already there while creating or modifing a boundary. Can I change the color of the Invisible Line (can't find that line modify)? OR does every line created thru manage line style have to have a weight (am I able to make a zero line weight or even a pattern that shows nothing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI edit Sweep1, select path with guide rail, try to select the curve in 3D sketch 2, but don't succeed.
First, it selects both, the path and the guide rail, and when it offers me to select the path alone, i don't know how to call it in english, again it gives a warning.
I am trying to model a forged steel table base so I can create some tooling to reproduce it. See the attached photo of the base. I am able to sweep along my 3D projected sketch path but there is a twist at the center that I believe I need a guide rail to control. I have tried to draw a rail but it fails.
I suspect I am not drawing my guide rail correctly as to create the slight twist. I was considering drawing a shallow helix along the 3d sweep path but not sure that this is the best direction to head next. I have attached the .ipt with the sweep (without guide path being used).
I have a complex surface that consists of many patches. I need to place a work axis perpendicular to one of the patches on the surface of the cheek. It could be on the interior of the patch or it could be at one of the vertices of the patch.

Today I installed 2012 and found that the ability to stretch and edit XCLIP boudaries had finally been added. SWEET!....wrong.
I was working merrily along when all of a sudden my screen blinked, refreshed, or something, and 80% of the lines within my XCLIP boundaries just disappeared.
I closed the drawing and reopened. Closed ACA and reopened. Rebooted and reopened. Gone.
If I delete the XCLIP, it all comes back. Apply a new XCLIP, gone again.
Open the drawing in ACA2011, still gone. EGADS!
Is this a totally new problem???
It literally took less than an hour after installing to find a problem in ACA 2012. My Autodesk woes continue.
I have created the Custom library of ISO bolts by adding the Material to existing ISO library using the Material Guide.
The goal is to make bolts black and anodized to be more specific with purchase orders from very beginning.
After the adding the material everything is working good except the auto drop. There is a wide Table pop ups with a lot of unnecessary info.
Is it possible to choose the columns to represent there? I mean leave just Material or Part Number ?

I know I'v done this before but I'm having trouble getting a detail view to just show the jagged cut lines where it crosses the part only & not all the way around it. See images attached to show the problem.

How does one remove the boundary box for a detail view? I don't want it sitting in my main view, as this is a conveyor and it's very obvious at to where the drive arrangement is sited. See attached.
I'm guessing changing it to another layer that does not print is one option, or?
In the attached sample file if you edit the sketch in the first surface feature and change the dimension of 600 to 700, both the patch and loft features fail. It seems to be the curved edge that is the problem in both cases.
I cant see anything wrong with either way of modelling this so assume its a bug.This causes other problems in my real model with parts that reference these types of surfaces falling apart further down stream and is wasting heaps of $$$.
How to use ellipse as boundary for detail view? I can only see rectangles and circles as my choices.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used a 2d polyline to create a surface boundary for a surface created. The polyline is a closed loop. For the boundary type it is outer, unchecked Non-destructive breakline, and mid-ordinate distance = 1.
My problem is that when I do this I only get a small portion of the surface to show up within my surface boundary. If I don't have a surface boundary the entire drawing surface shows up no problem.
The purple polyline is my boundary and the light blue is the surface created within the boundary.
I am not sure exactly why this is a limited feature of Inventor 2011 but when you want to select a sketch to create a boundary patch you have to select each part of the sketch in sequence. It's a pretty laborious task. I am looking to a way to automate this using i logic.

Why is the scale of my Detail Boundary line different than my Section Line scale? I have set the global line scale so that hidden and section lines look OK, but the detail boundary line spaces are so close that it prints as a continuous line. I am using the same line weight and line type for both detail and section lines.
How to remove the view label text which is attached to a detail boundary? I know that if you double click ont he etxt you can manually delete it from the format text window but I want edit the default setting so that it doesnt appear on creation.
