AutoCAD Inventor :: Embossing Text Around Cone Parallel With Bottom Plane
Apr 26, 2012I have tried everything. Its not really a cone, but same difference its a bottle neck. I want the company name around the bottle neck.

View 2 RepliesI want to engrave the text 'TEST' all the way around this clonal object. When I use the emboss tool, selecting the option 'wrap to face,' it gives me an error message that the "face selected is not tangent to the profile plane."
I am using a work plane that is offset from the XY plane. I included a screen shot and the file that I am using (Inv. 2014)
I need to emboss ( cut in ) some grooves into a cylinder, but in such a way, so that they won't get narrower. What do you think would be the best way to do that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know how to do embossing in parts. I know how to work with iparts. I have not found a way to use embossing inside an ipart that will allow me to change the text on each member. We do steel rings and each one of them has the size and pressure rating embossed in it. What I'm trying to achieve is to have the embossing change according to each member automatically

I have tried using the “stitch surface” command but I can’t seem to get it to select .
The surface was created using the loft command, but I don’t know how to select it as a composite surface . When I am doing the emboss. Maybe it has to be done using another method besides emboss?

Is it possible to make a cone with sheet metal that can be unfolded?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe commonly weld two half cone sections together to make a complete cone. To show the weld prep i have modeled a chamfer on the cone edges.
When i try and show the chamfer on the drawing using a section I cannot dimension the angle as the surface is viewed as a curve by Inventor.
I have attached a drawing and part file showing the problem and showing the detail I would like (I've shown the detail using a simple sketch).
How do I make this flat pattern correct... it might be that I have to use a different way to folded up the crimp But I'm new to crimps
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat I have is a shape files that contains the road centreline of a city I am working on. And that shape files also have a data of its road name etc.
I know how to do it as FDO (using map connect). But what I require is an autocad text entity.
I can save the map as a drawing. But what I only want is just a number of road names and they are not adjacent or near to each other so map filtering is not recommended.
So what I did, I add the shape files using map import command and added the road name data. And then, I used the command Annotation and do the "define annotation" and "insert annotation". From here, I am doing fine. I created a text/block annotation that will extract the road name on the imported centreline on the line I just selected.
Now, my problem is, all the text are in just one direction (in my case they are all horizontal). I tried playing the "rotation expression" but still without luck.
how or what "rotation expression" should I use to make the text parallel/along the centreline.
We're seeing strange behavior on all of our workstations when using a Refold feature on a sheet metal cone. Surfaces are (very incorrectly) being added at the top and bottom openings of the cone when the Refold feature is added. The behaviour is the same whether using Contour Roll or Revolve. The surfaces dissappear when the cone is revolved to a lesser degree, such as 200 degrees instead of 359. The cone can be revolved to 360 degrees and ripped but that raises a whole nother problem because Inventor does not correctly refold a 360 ripped cone. File attached. By the way, the surface artifacts show up in the flat pattern as well.

How to get the “text” or “block” parallel to a particular line?there is more than one way to alight the text with a particular line but wondering if there might be more powerful tools to do so.
“Rotate” and “Align” are possible commands to align the text with particular line. Parallel constrain is another option to do so but will make the drawing “busy” with additional parameter.
Equally, what if I need to make a block parallel to a particular line? In this case, the “parallel constrain” doesn’t work! Just I may take the advantage of “rotate” and “align”..What I wanted to know if there is a more brilliant way to get the“text” or “block” PARALLEL to a particular line with a smart tool.
I just received a large floor plan and loads of the text is upside down. Usually I would use the TORIENT command in Express Tools although this doesn’t seem to work.
The error I get is:1 object was not parallel to the current UCS.No valid objects selected.
I’ve tried flatten, mirror & rotate but I still can’t get the text to display correctly.
I’ve attached a DWG file (2010 format) with a piece of text.
How to draw with sheet metal rules centric cone? Ive spent hours on it and nothing, it always end up on ASM failure, or ceates the only one half( when sliced on asymetric way). This need to go in two halfs.
Ive tried:
two circles 1300 and 300, top circle centre moved from Y by 127mm on X axis.
contour roll will revolve on axis between circle centre points, than extrude something with cut and it is but the shape is an oval not circle.
Ive used loft command and slice command but only one side picke will work with flat pattern.
We have been experimenting with Parallel threading. The situation is that I have an assembly that contains multiple parts (approx. 40) which all have contained "almost" the same code. In order to rationalize this; we have rearranged the code in such way that we now only reference External iLogic rules form these 40 part files (only one place to revise the code if necessary).
The side effect to this rationalization has been the we have problems in executing the codes in parallel, see this simplified example:
Imports System.Threading.TasksParallel.For(1,40, Sub(h As Integer) iLogicVb.RunRule ("Part "& h &"", "iTriggerRule") End Sub)
Now all of these 40 part files try to execute their code.
'Configutation of Part filesiTrigger=iTrigger0iLogicVb.RunExternalRule("Cut configuration")iLogicVb.RunExternalRule("Bracing of the part")iLogicVb.RunExternalRule("Parameter context")
As they all are dependent upon running the same external rules the result is that not all part files are updated according to the required design requirements. It seem as if one of the part files calls the external rule and the rule is "busy" handling another part file it just terminates without warnings or errors.
Can multiple part files run the same external rule at the same time? Is there some form of queue? I do not get any warnings or errors, the partfiles just do not update. How can I make sure that all the part files run the external rules and is there a way of checking this?
This is probably a simple one that I am missing, but how do I get a parallel constraint applied to these two edges.

Basically, I have two workplanes which are parallel to each other and offset by a certain distance. As illustrated in the picture below, I'd like to constrain points from each plane to have the same vertical alignment as those from the other plane (horizontal too, I suppose, but the horizontal dimension will be the same anyways).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been working on this framing plan and come to find out - much of the text and some of the lines are being entered off of the 0 - Z plane. get everything down to 0? Flatten does not work and I have searched high and low for a resolution, but I'm not getting anywhere.
I know the lines are mostly at 0, which makes it very confusing that the text would enter off of the 0 - Z plane.
In my current drawing, when I click into Model Space through a viewport and draw a leader, the leader is drawn with a Z coordinate of 0", but the text is being drawn at -9", so the leader is not associative and it doesn't have the tail on it. I just noticed it's also doing it in Model Space in the World UCS.

How would you arrange them?
I would like to decrease the gap between the bottom of text and the line added when using the underline (%%U) command. Any way to do this?
