AutoCAD Inventor :: Edit Field Properties Default Width Of Value Column

When editing the properties for the title block on each sheet of my drawing, I've become rather annoyed with the default column width of the Value column. It always opens to the same width no matter how many times I change it. Every time I edit something in the title block, I have to resize this column to see everything I'm editing.
Any way to change the default width it opens at?

I am using AutoCAD 2011. I have been reading of similar problems with MText: I format the text in the drawing to my desired appearance and once I close and reopen the drawing, the column widths have compressed and muddled the text legibility. After reading other similar posts, I set MTEXTCOLUMN to 0 and changed all MText to "No Columns." MTEXTCOLUMN is still set to 0, but the other properties have reverted back to dynamic columns, so I am still having this problem. To check against this being a problem on my specific workstation, a coworker opened the file on his workstation and experienced the same text compression.

I am trying setup a default part list for my company in Inventor, where I am stuck at is I wish to lock the width of the columns so on all our drawings the part list is the same width, I have assigned each column its own width and when I bring it in to the drawing it's the correct size but I am able to drag the edges, and change its size, I want to lock it so if you try you cant
am I missing something obvious in the menus? Or is this a limitation with inventor.
I am using the latest version of Inventor 2013

I use a style library. Have it in a read-only mode in the ipj file. My drawing created a new template with a rev table with required columns.
Now, I create a new drawing file and choose this template. add few views, insert a rev table. The rev table columns headings are the same as in the template. But the column widths aren't same as in the template.
I use manage->update. It warns me that the drawing would be matched as per the style library. I agree & OK.
No use, the columns are not same size? Though the style is read only from the drawing, I go to open the style editor to check the column widths. They are different from the template.

I have copied a standard "L" to my custom library. Now I would like to map the properties for the CC parts to be like my other parts that are not created in CC. One of the things I need is the "Title" and "Description" iproperty fields need to be the sectional size, i.e. L3x2x3/16, L4x4x3/8....etc.
To do this, I went into the editor and created a column. I mapped this column to Project.Description (see image)
why this does not work? When I create a new part and look at the BOM, I only see "Angled Steel" in the description iproperty field (see image below)
I did the same thing with the "Title" field and the "Project" field. Those work great.... just can't make teh Description field happen.
This is with Inventor 2011.

I need to create a column in a partslist that reads IDENTIFYING NO. instead of the factory PART NUMBER title. When i create the new property in the column chooser dialog box how do i get inventor to pull the PART NUMBER from iprops over to the IDENTIFYING NO. column.

I am trying to generate a parts list that will contain a stock number from the BOM.
When I go to customize my parts list I cannot add a stock number as it's not on the list of properties available.
Is there any chance to add other properties? (i am aware that I can add a custom property but it won't be linked to my BOM.

I can not edit the M text & field text in title box.My system is Windows Xp Professional 2002, Inventor 11.
I tried to install Microsoft Hotfix KB918118 as I did before, but I coulden't. System massege show my system is newer than that, so I do not need it. Then I installed Hotfix for text problem caused by Microsoft Hotfix KB918118. I can edit M Text now, but still I could not edit Field Text.

change copyright year in field text (through edit definition) in title block.
Our titleblocks have a copyright year statement that needs updating everytime a new year comes around.
Currently we select the titleblock, edit definition, edit text, and make the change. Currently reads "2012 (company B) CORPORATION"

Any way to make Acad C3D hold the value for MTEXTCOLUMN = 0? I am having issues with it resetting my column width to 0, even after I have formatted all the Mtext to read how I want it shown. Once I close a drawing and open it again, the formatting changes that I have previously set return to "dynamic" and column width = 0. I just want to turn off the dynamic setting so it stops messing up the formatting, but I can't get it to retain the dynamic setting. Currently running C3D 2012.

I am using a symbol that includes a several text boxes. Each text box includes "prompted text" and "drawing properties". When I insert the symbol onto a drawing, the "Edit Property Fields" menu appears. In this menu, I can input my prompted field text or see the various "drawing properties".
My question is, how do I change the order that these property fields are displayed? It seems as if it depends on the order that the text boxes were created while defining the symbol definition. Is there any other way to change the display order?

I'm trying to set up some new title blocks, I have some "prompted entry" Properties that I want to incorporate, I've got them in the title blocks OK but I can't seem to get em to return a default value, the prompts are all coming in blank when the dialog box comes up. I have set the defaults to what I need on the original ANSI template with the new title block, but when I create a new drawing using that template, the title block comes in without any values set. Is there a way of setting them to return a default value initially that you would change if required, I'm sure I'm missing something very basic!!
Also, in the 'edit property' fields dialog box, there does not seem to be a way of inserting symbols into the value field, have I not turned on the right variable, or missed have I something else??

In my idw, when I right-click on my section view line (or the section view itself), I want to change the section depth from full to some distance. Problem is there is not a "Edit Section Properties" in the context menu.
There are other section views on this sheet and they will display "Edit Section Properties" in the context menu.
Any clues as to why I dont get a context menu on just this one section view? I could delete the view and redimension everything, but I had rather not.... Its got several dims on it.
Cant post the file either... its pretty large.?The idw itself is 16mb, not counting all the parts/assemblies.

In Bill of material i have custom PartQty column and is beside QTY column. I need all informations from QTY column to PartQty column to copy. Possible with iLogic? I'm selecting now manualy copy and paste but it would be nice to have automatic.

Several times, we generate a drawing, and the text widths in the columns vary greatly. Some have text that is ten characters long, and others have thirty-plus characters.
Is there a way to be able to select the table (or perform the command to all tables in the current layout) and have each of the columns expand to the appropriate width, that depends on the longest string of text in that column, for each column. The problem I see, is that some tables have two columns, some have six, and of course other with any number in between. The same is also true for the amount of rows.

I've been having this issue happen repeatedly, but not consistently. In a new file, I adjust the width of an mtext box so that the text wraps into multiple lines. When I next open the file, all mtext boxes are back at a wider width so that the text is all on one line. The start of the text is also usually in a different location. This was happening on 2011/XP and now on 2012/Windows7.

Most annoying thing, the VP Freeze and New VP Freeze columns in the Layer Properties Manager keep resetting themselves to original position. I've done all the proflie stuff, re-save it after changing it, re-load it when I find the error, etc.. and still it reverses every time I restart AutoCAD.
What is it with the columns in dialog boxes? I've posted how the column widths in the File Dialog box reset everytime too. How they don't follow windows folder options. Is this some Windows issue or AutoCAD issue?

I’m currently in the process of creating new tool palettes and all the components blocks I’m storing, I know the weights of, is there a way to add a custom field in the properties box say the weight for example, so I know how much something will weigh by clicking on its properties .

If you can set the column widths to remember their positions in EATTEDIT? Take the below as an example, the prompts are truncated and the custom column sizes are never remembered when I adjust them.

I am a little new to assigning attributes. My company had a block with two attributes that I need to alter. When the block is inserted, it asks a quantity. The other attribute is titled location. I am told if needed, all these quantities can be totaled per drawing. It has a title of "location". Two things: How to replicate this action? And is there a way to show all properties of a field for an attribute?

I am trying to publish to the CC a guide rail. The vendor of the rail gives me the option of entering the desired length of the rail. After that he gives me the option to choose between the length that I entered and a shorter and longer standard length witch can be delivered faster.
I want to do the same thing with my published part, but I cannot make a key parameter to change depending on the entered custom parameter. I want the user to make the next steps when inserting from the CC: 1- select the size of the rail; 2-select the type of the rail; 3- enter the desired length of the rail; 4- choose between the desired length and the 2 recommended lengths (I need these 3 lengths to be shown)
Is this possible?

problem I am having is with the text fields. I want my text field to be a specific width to fit within my layout - and have the text expand or contract based on the width of the text layer. What happens now is the Last Name (for instance - could be the First Name, Team Name etc) for instance comes in very long and I have to manually compress the text layer width (the height is always good) to fit in the layout (or comes in really short and I have to expand it).
Going through 100's of PSDs after the import of the dataset really slows down the workflow....is there a way to "lock" a text layer to a specific width (and height) - therefore having the text expand/contract as nessessary when the import occurs?
I have looked at couple of scripts - but I am new to JavaScript (use VBS quite a bit at work - but not familar with JS). But this may be what I have to do...

I am unsure weather to post this in Dyn Block technical or Fields as it comprises elements of both.
I am trying to get a field to return a 'lookup properties' value...
Actually, what I am trying to do is use a field to display either a + or a - depending upon upon the state of a flip parameter.
How I have been trying to achieve that is by using a lookup table to assign:
Input Properties.....Lookup Properties
Not flipped........=............+
Flipped.............=............-
Then I'm setting a Field to look at the Object 'Lookup Parameter' and return 'Lookup Action'.
The field then displays '#########' when testing the block.
When I return to edit the field it complains 'the object referenced y the field has been erased'. Both the table and parameter are still there, so I don't know what the problem is. Is there a better way of having a field return a specific value based upon a parameter state?

Illustrator CS6. Is there a script that inputs in a text field the width and height of an object. I do proofs and for a printing company and we always have to write the size of the artwork for the customer to approve. It's easy to do, but when you do 100's a week, it gets old and annoying. I do scale the image down to be visible on 11x8.5. I would think if there is a way to input the size of artwork, there would have to be a way to write the script so it can multiply the scaled down artwork for proofs to the actual W and H of the object. If the art is 13"W x 20"H and I put it on the proof at 10%, I want the script to input in a text field the 13"W x 20"H.
