I´m running Inventor 2013 under Windows 7 64-bit.
Nvidia GTX 680 did not work with GPU accelerated ray-tracing in Inventor 2013. I replaced it with a GTX 580 GPU card, exact same result. Either I´m just doing something wrong, or it plain does not work.
Are there any consumer grade GPU cards that work with the ray-tracing functionality in Inventor 2013?
So I've been using ray the realistic view with ray tracing enabled for a while now for quick renders, but I recently had to reinstall Windows and now it wont work. I've installed all of my drivers and everything is up to date, but when I click on ray tracing it starts to do it for a couple of seconds then just disables. After that first try whenever I click the button it simply wont enable.

By default the system assigns GPUs automatically to the applications - in this case it was Intel Graphics HD 4000. It works with the Intel GPU. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit version), I've tried Autocad 64bit 2013 and Autocal Civil 3D 64 bit and it happened in both cases. how to run it with nVidia?
When I copy and paste an image from Word .docx files they comr in blurry. I have a client who sends me drawing images that have been scanned and pasted into word .docx files. In Word the images are of high resolution, crisp and easy to read. When I copy the images and paste them into AutoCAD 2013 they are quite blurry and almost un-readable. Any way to retain the image resolution

Quadro cards designed for PS CS4 were simply way outside what I could afford. Just like I could not afford faster (above 7200 RPM) harddrives.
I figure, that is the experence of most PS license holders who visit and post in these forums.
My lay research tells me that "possibly" the biggest difference between, say my Geforce latest and greatest, and your Cadilac Quadro is in what the respective drivers are programmed to do.
Got a rather large ipart that I haver been using in 2013. When I try to check this in, Inventor runs through the "analyzing members" thingy and fails about the 8000 member mark. Actually get a CER.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a brand new HP Mobile Workstation (See spec below sig) with a NVidia Quadro FX2800M graphics card and I have had the blue screen of death 3 times in the last week while running IV2012. I think it's a graphics card problem and when I try to find driver detail on the AutoDesk or NVidia website it looks like my card isn't certified.
Does the FX2800M isn't supported and if not why?

I have a Nvidia Geforce 7800 gt/PCI/SSE2 card. I downloaded the latest drivers (178 released October this year).
But how can I tell if PS CS4 is utilizing it, and if it is not, what do I have to do.
In Edit/Preferences/Performance, the Enable OpenGLdrawing is checked. However, it just seems as if it is not really working.
I have an issue with anti-aliasing.I have had a K5000 for a couple of months now and tried various updated drivers but still have an issue with my Autodesk Inventor setup. I have now updated from 2013 to 2014 (Inventor) and still have the same issue.
I have Inventor set to Quality on hardware. The anti-aliasing then works ok. I can rotate the view using my 3Dconnexion mouse fine, and the anti-aliasing continues to work. But as soon as I move the mouse I loose the anti-aliasing. The mouse driver is standard windows. I have no other software installed on this windows 7 64 workstation, only Inventor and Excel.
I also have a laptop workstation using a Quadro FX 2700M. The anti-aliasing works fine on this machine.I have a mouse attached to laptop. It's the same brand but slightly different model to the workstation mouse (both Razer). I have both machines with the standard mouse driver, not the Razer driver.I use a 3Dconnexion SpacePilot Pro on both machines with the same driver (v3-16-1_r1342).
When I open a file in Inventor, and the mouse is either over the ribbon menu or the top title bar, I can rotate and zoom using the 3D mouse and the model is perfectly anti-aliased. If I move the mouse in the ribbon menu or top title bar the model in the workspace is still anti-aliased. But as soon as the mouse passes over the workspace or side Inventor explorer menu the model reverts to standard non-anti-aliased view - as if I had Inventor set on Performance rather than Quality.
Also, if the mouse is positioned over the workspace or explorer areas and I rotate the model, the anti-aliasing 'switches back on' so to speak. I can rotate and zoom again and the model is perfectly anti-aliased - even though the mouse is over the workspace or browser. But as soon as I move the mouse I the model reverts to non-anti-aliased again. Until I re-use the 3D mouse.
One thing I did notice, was that if I change the Inventor view settings to use an IBL environment then I do not get this problem. The anti-aliasing does remains even when I move the mouse. But unfortunately, this is not a perfect solution as it means every time I open a file (which is every few minutes) I need to re-apply the IBL setting, to which there is a time delay.
I am also getting artifacting/glitches in the Inventor IDW Drawing environment. Every horizontal inch up the screen I get a pixel shift, a sort of mis-alignment where the pixel 'row' of the screen has shifted horizontally by a pixel or two.I have contacted Nvidia who suggested using the Autodesk certified driver, currently 307.45, but this has not had any affect.
Ray tracing disables when I use the half section view, when I turn it on again it disables the section view. Is there any way I can see a cross section of my assembly in realistic mode with ray tracing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used Inventor 2010, but after a change of our Domain, I had some issues with export and mouse customization (one worked with IV running privileged, but the other didn't and vice versa). Reinstalation didnt solve the problem, so I hoped, that a newer version would solve it. Unfortunately the problems remained the same, but I could get it to work (running mouse software also privileged).
Now I noticed, that the 'select other' menu doesn't pop up, regardless of the delay choosen in the settings. Also some function keys don't work: F7, F8, and F9 don't show any reaction, while all other F-keys work.I'm using Inventor Professional 2013, 64 Bit (Build : 200, Release 2013 SP2 Update 2) from our Education Master Suite.
Just started having a play with ray tracing in Inventor 2013 Pro & I'm quite impressed how quickly you can get a rendered view of a model. However, it seems no matter how I set up the lighting or the shadows in the 'Settings' menu when I click on 'Tay Tracing' it seems to default back to some original settings. The shadows & lighting in any of the drop down menus don't seem to be applied. eg. I select 'Two Lights' from the menu, then select 'Settings' I then adjust the shadows & the lights from within the menu. It all looks good on the screen & click Ray Tracing & everything that I've done doesn't get applied? However, when I cancel & stop the Ray Tracing the shadows & Lights are still there.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy goal is to get it so that I can just turn on realistic visual style and ray tracing and be able to get usable screen shots for product datasheets/ marketing material without having to resort to rendering in studio. (If possible and I think it should be) All my products feature a black powder coated enclosure (think DVD player shape/size). When I enable ray tracing all I basically see is a black blob with no good definition between surfaces,etc.I'm assuming now that I need to do 2 things #1 increase/modify lighting and #2 modify the colors in the style library to work better. For that black color in the style editor I basically have all 4 colors (ambient/diffuse/specular/emissive) set to black. Is there something I should do to allow "more realistic" colors instead of just all color options set as black? I've gotten very decent renders from studio that worked just fine in the past but I've got roughly 400+ screenshots that are needed now for new products. I can play around with settings till I'm blue in the face but I was just looking for tips to have a decent baseline to start with.

The question is; our office is divided between Designers that use the regular AutoCAD edition and our Engineers that would like to use Mechanical (rather than the regular CAD). Are there any conflicts resulting from sharing drawings between the two editions on AutoCAD (regular & Mechanical)?
If so, what would be the optimal method for these two departments to collaborate?
I keep running into a situation where I would like to be able to create an edge or a work axis at the intersection of a work plane and the surface of the part. I figured out a work around if the surface is flat, but I haven't figured out a work around for a curved surface.
How do I create work axis where work plane intersects curved surface?
Or put another way: How do I project intersection of work plane and curved surface onto the work plane in a 2D sketch?
I need to be able to draw a 2D sketch on the work plane, but get a perfectly matching projected line onto the work plane, from the curved surface, at the intersection of the curved surface and the work plane.
The attached jpg shows the intersection in question. I circled it.
I am wondering why RPC content in Revit Architecture 2013 is not exporting, or linking when I open up the project in 3Ds Max Desing 2013. I have tried FBX, and linking that, as well as linking an .RVT file, =either "imported" the RPC objects.
Why doesn't 3Ds Max Design support these objects and is there any way to get them into 3Ds Max.
I must be missing something on how Linetypes Work. I created a folder where I store all my shape files for linetypes, and added it as both a support file search path and a working support file search path. I tried to provide as much information as I could with the images below. When I try to bring in a linetype I constantly get a bad definition error. proper way to store and implement Linotype standards.

In the file there is a hyperlink to open the file in AutoCAD (click the Drawing Name). It has worked fine till we upgraded to 2013. Is there a setting or security issue I need to address to be able to open the Hyperlinks?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have many directories, each with many drawings and each drawing has either one or many custom entries in its properties (File > Drawing Utilities > Drawing Properties.) I want to remove all the custom properties and it looks like the PROPULATE command should do this...but it doesn't work on a directory. It does work nicely on the current drawing but like i said, there are many drawings in several directories.
Is there any ~working~ way to remove all custom properties from all drawings in a particular directory?
I took the Windows 8.1 upgrade, and now AutoCad LT 2013 crashes just as the window starts to open up. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and have applied SP1.1 and SP2.

The isuue is dwg related. It only happens when i paste to some of my dwg (usualy the most important ones...). All the drawing files that are affected are in 2013 format, but if i save them to older version the problem persist.

to no avail.
Tried many other solutions sa well, but nothing worked. What on earth could be wrong with DWG to prevent pasting from another drawing? Those drawings have been saved to lower formats before.
I have my settings in my PC, like PGP shortcuts, user preferences, etc. When I logged in another machine, which is a clean install btw, I expect that my other machine's settings will come here. But it is the opposite. My original machine gets default shortcuts, etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am upgrading the AutoCAD 2009 X 32 systems to the 2013 X64, and I have this vab code that won't work on the new system. I try to move the search path that contain the file up to the top and also got all the missing libraries, but the code still won't work.When I run the code it will give me error message like: compile error:
Function or interface marked as restricted, or the function uses an Automation type not supported in Visual Basic. The code work perfectly without any error on the old system so I sure the code is causing this error.
I am using Autocad 2013 on a 64bit PC.
I saved and run the Civil OE 64Bit. All the items shown have been selected and installed.
I can only see squares when I open a drawings that comes from the civil engineers.
this thread confirms that Autodesk broke the surface transparency functionality in 2013. I imagine by the lack of response to the original thread that this is either a little used or not well published feature....
