AutoCAD 2013 :: Hyperlinks Don't Work After Upgrade
May 9, 2013
I have recently upgraded from AutoCAD 2012 to 2013 and we have an excel file that keeps track of all our drawings. In the file there is a hyperlink to open the file in AutoCAD (click the Drawing Name). Â It has worked fine till we upgraded to 2013. Â Is there a setting or security issue I need to address to be able to open the Hyperlinks?
Do hyperlinks work when exporting to PDF with X6 without service packs? I created a hyperlink and it is showing up in the document but not when I export the PDF. I checked the box on the Document tab. Not created a hyperlink before so I may be missing something.
I just ordered the CS4 upgrade as a download because I wanted the serial number right now because I'm going on a 6 week trip. This is the first download upgrade I've done for this product because I've had trouble with download upgrades for other products. I won't have trouble with this install, but what I'm curious about is what happens when I get a new computer and want to install Photoshop. Most upgrade products ask for the previous CD and a serial number. In this case, I have it, but when I upgrade next time, my previous will be a download. I'm hoping that Adobe took care of this problem with download upgrades.  Obviously I prefer not to have to install old products on a new computer in order to get a current product to work. Â
My computer with Windowsxp has AutoCad LT 2005. It's locked up and I can't get to my files. Fortunately, I have most of the AutoCad drawings I created backed up. I'm looking at a new laptop with Windows 8 and will purchase AutoCad LT 2012 or 2013. Question: Will I be able to load the drawings created in 2005 into 2012 AutoCad?
I'm so excited to recieve my new CD in the post but... I am halfway through a design project, and if I install the new latest version Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 7
1. Will my old Xara X1 (cd version) files work in latest version if I upgrade/install XP/GP7?
2. and will they be 2 stand alone programs and can switch between the two? or overwrite each other>?
At this time I am unable to locate my original cd, which has been in mass storage, so I fear installing just to find out, otherwise I wouldnt have asked this forum, backed up my design project and tried this already.
Because the new Building Suite Design programs won't run on windows vista, I've been upgrading some of our older computers to windows 7. Â Most are working fine but having problems with one computer. Â
Specs of this computer (it's pretty old I know) Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad  CPU  Q9300  @ 2.50GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz Asus P5K SE/EPU NVIDIA Quadro FX 570 8gb ram
So I formatted this computer and installed windows 7 64x pro, installed all the software etc. Â This computer is also part of a domain. Â Problem now is opening some AutoCAD files on the server, edit the file then hit the x in the corner to close it, we hit yes to save it then the whole computer just freezes. Â It doesn't happen with all files, just some and I can't work out what the problem is. Â ALSO when copying some CAD files from one project folder on the server to another project folder on the server it freezes. Â No problems copying files to the local computer/desktop, just server-server. The graphics card driver is up to date etc.
What is the use of "regular" AutoCAD 2013 as compared to 2013 Mechanical. The question is; our office is divided between Designers that use the regular AutoCAD edition and our Engineers that would like to use Mechanical (rather than the regular CAD). Are there any conflicts resulting from sharing drawings between the two editions on AutoCAD (regular & Mechanical)?
If so, what would be the optimal method for these two departments to collaborate?
I use the command 'hyperlink' I select the object and the program crashes and is 'not responding'
Now the tricky is that this happens both in Autocad Map 2010 and 2013. And happens also in files I already have hyperlinks and new ones. If I run the software as an administrator in my pc, the command works excellent.
I insert hyperlinks in the files for many years and till now everything worked fine.
Using C# (VS2010, Acad2012) i've created a block, imported it, given it the required attibute tags and values, and then created an array out of this block for a total of "x" identical blocks for our purposes. As these blocks are desigend to represent real-world products, is there any way that one of my attribute values can reflect a hyperlink to the manufacturers datasheet?
So essentially
Product Info [URL] ....
Also, one of my functions lists all of the blocks in the current drawing and tallys them up and drops them into a table where it reports the block name, details, and quantity. I would also like this block name to be a hyperlink as well...is this doable? Â AttributeDefinition attDef15 = new AttributeDefinition(new Point3d(0d, 0d, 0d), productinfo, "Web Link", "", db.Textstyle); attDef12.Invisible = true;
The IT department here wants to use AutoCAD LT 2010 to create a floorplan that has hyperlinks to pictures (jpg) of their equipment in the plant. We want to know if AutoCAD LT 2010 has hyperlink capability before they purchase the software.
When I a have a drawing with items wich contain hyperlinks. They work perfect in autocad. Also in DWF they work great! But when I plot to PDF. The items are not clickable.
I guess this is a "problem" with the PDF plotter. Which PDF plotter CAN recognize hyperlinks and put's them on the PDF.
I'm plotting a Township Dimension sheet that has links to corner tie sheets on each section corner. Ideally I'd like to plot this using the "DWG to PDF" plotter and have it saved as a PDF so when it's put on our website you can easily pull up each relevant tie sheet from the links.
If I plot this as a .DWF file the hyperlinks work great. However, I highly doubt too many people can easily open DWF files so I'd like to keep it in a PDF format. Is there any way to plot to PDF using AutoCAD and keep the hyperlinks? I'm starting to think the only way to have hyperlinks in a PDF document is to create them manually using Adobe Acrobat (which would be A LOT of work).
I am wondering why RPC content in Revit Architecture 2013 is not exporting, or linking when I open up the project in 3Ds Max Desing 2013. I have tried FBX, and linking that, as well as linking an .RVT file, =either "imported" the RPC objects. Â Why doesn't 3Ds Max Design support these objects and is there any way to get them into 3Ds Max.
I must be missing something on how Linetypes Work. I created a folder where I store all my shape files for linetypes, and added it as both a support file search path and a working support file search path. I tried to provide as much information as I could with the images below. When I try to bring in a linetype I constantly get a bad definition error. proper way to store and implement Linotype standards.
I have drawn my model and am trying to put it into viewports. I have followed the tutorials provided to the letter, but when I create the viewport nothing shows up.
The below adds a hyperlink to the selected object. How might it have to change to add multiple hyperlinks?
(entmod  (append (entget (car (entsel)))      (list       (list -3          (cons "PE_URL"             (list              (cons 1000 "..\..\90 Submittals\90-3 O&Ms\fig83-clevishanger.pdf") ; Relative Path to a pdf file.              (cons 1002 "{")
I am inserting hyperlinks in an mtext object using the following commands:
1. Within the mtext box, right click and select "insert field" 2. Choose "linked" 3. Choose "Hyperlink" 4. Type in the web address in the box to allow autodesk to load the website 5. Choose "insert link" 6. Modified "text to display" 7. Exit text editor.
We have many directories, each with many drawings and each drawing has either one or many custom entries in its properties (File > Drawing Utilities > Drawing Properties.) I want to remove all the custom properties and it looks like the PROPULATE command should do this...but it doesn't work on a directory. It does work nicely on the current drawing but like i said, there are many drawings in several directories.
Is there any ~working~ way to remove all custom properties from all drawings in a particular directory?
I took the Windows 8.1 upgrade, and now AutoCad LT 2013 crashes just as the window starts to open up. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and have applied SP1.1 and SP2.
When I use copy or copy with base point and paste or paste to original coordinates in another drawing, nothing is being copied.
I use autocad 2013
The isuue is dwg related. It only happens when i paste to some of my dwg (usualy the most important ones...). All the drawing files that are affected are in 2013 format, but if i save them to older version the problem persist.
I ve tried -purge r, purge a, audit, save -wblock explode, purge a, audit, save to no avail.
Tried many other solutions sa well, but nothing worked. What on earth could be wrong with DWG to prevent pasting from another drawing? Those drawings have been saved to lower formats before.
I have my settings in my PC, like PGP shortcuts, user preferences, etc. When I logged in another machine, which is a clean install btw, I expect that my other machine's settings will come here. But it is the opposite. My original machine gets default shortcuts, etc.
I am upgrading the AutoCAD 2009 X 32 systems to the 2013 X64, and I have this vab code that won't work on the new system. I try to move the search path that contain the file up to the top and also got all the missing libraries, but the code still won't work. When I run the code it will give me error message like: compile error:
Function or interface marked as restricted, or the function uses an Automation type not supported in Visual Basic. The code work perfectly without any error on the old system so I sure the code is causing this error.
this thread confirms that Autodesk broke the surface transparency functionality in 2013. I imagine by the lack of response to the original thread that this is either a little used or not well published feature....

Got a rather large ipart that I haver been using in 2013. When I try to check this in, Inventor runs through the "analyzing members" thingy and fails about the 8000 member mark. Actually get a CER.Â
