View 31 RepliesI'm so excited to recieve my new CD in the post but... I am halfway through a design project, and if I install the new latest version Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 7
1. Will my old Xara X1 (cd version) files work in latest version if I upgrade/install XP/GP7?
2. and will they be 2 stand alone programs and can switch between the two? or overwrite each other>?
At this time I am unable to locate my original cd, which has been in mass storage, so I fear installing just to find out, otherwise I wouldnt have asked this forum, backed up my design project and tried this already.
I have tracked this problem with different versions of everything but can't seem to zero in on a cause. This problem seems to randomly occur when I start up After Effects with other apps already running. I haven't isolated every scenario because sometimes it works, other times it doesn't, and still other times I don't need ray-tracing anyway.
Â
If I then go about clicking things off and re booting, etc, it will eventually work. This past time I started AE after I already had Photoshop and Premiere Pro running. Safari, Outlook, Power Point, a couple of Finder windows and VLC player were also running. After I closed everything and then started AE first, it recognized my CUDA drivers and card.
 Â
Then I re opened everything I had open before ... loaded them full of content, went about the business of editing, ray-tracing, rendering, etc. with no issues.
Â
I guess I should be happy with a solution that depends on the order in which I open applications and I am certainly glad there seems to be a work around (albeit a workflow stopper). Are there settings in my other apps that are blocking AE's ability to recognize CUDA? A conflict with VLC player?

With a relatively new iMac, gobs of RAM (some say is way more than needed), a fancy subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud with timely updates, I'd like to get into that comfort zone where everything just works.
I just did the latest CC upgrade and my Illustrator keeps crashing. I use Astute graphics, so figured it may have to do with the plug-ins, but after Iremoved them from the plug-ins folder the issue persists.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi just upgraded the driver for my nVidia GeForce 680 graphics card from the nVidia website. the specifications are shown below. Photoshop CC now says that it can't detect my graphics card.
nVidia verstion 327.23 WHQL
release date: Sept 9, 2013
operating system: windows 8 64-bit

will adobe have to issue an update to photoshop CC to fix the problem?
I just installed Photoshop CC v14.1.2 x64 on a box and it grumbles at me when I launch the program. It says "Photoshop detected an error in your display driver. Update or reinstall the driver and check Use Graphics Processor to retry."
Â
Checking the graphics driver it is indeed up to date.Â
Â
Setup:
Win7 Pro 64 bit
Video cards: mv video hook driver2 (disabled)
Nvidia Quadro K4000, v9.18.13.2902
Â
The graphics options in Photoshop are simply greyed out.
This only happens when PS CS6 (x64) is opened (fresh). If I create a blank doc, I get a top left "blank" rectangle. If I start up CS6 and select a file to open, I get the same blank square. After this, if I open or create a new doc, the files look fine. If I zoom into the blank space, it will eventually draw in properly. This is on any file I open. The files are intact. This is on Win 7 x64, Updated CS6 x64.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a user who is using Photoshop CS4 on a Dell Optiplex 745, with onboard Intel video. Since I read that Photoshop now uses OpenGL heavily in its operations, and also understanding that OpenGL support is pretty bad on Intels integrated video, we put an Nvidia GeForce8400 card in the PCIExpress slot, and loaded the latest drivers from Nvidia (version 182.50 currently). The user reports he periodically gets the attached error message, "Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video card manufacturers website for the latest software"... Knowing that some other OpenGL-enabled software is picky about what version of Nvidia graphics drivers are installed, I wonder if this is what we're seeing here...

So I have 64-bit Windows 8, 64-bit Photoshop CS6 and an ATI Radeon HD 4770 GPU. When I go to the settings in PS, it tells me that there is a problem with my display driver so I cannot use GPU graphics processing. I would really like these features to be available to me, especially since my GPU meets the recommendations by Adobe. I installed the latest driver from AMD.

Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU Enhancements. Check the video card manufacturer's website for the latest software.

GPU enhancements can be enabled in the Performance panel of preferences?
I've got a Lenovo Thinkpad R500 running Windows Vista.

I seem to be having an issue with my display driver. Everytime I open Adobe Photoshop, I get an error that photoshop has encountered an error with my display driver, and it does not display images properly (they seem to be very low resolution).
Â
I checked my drivers, and everything is up to date. I even ran Windows Update just to be sure.
I recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 8.1 and now from time to time, I am receiving the error above on the right side of the screen and my photoshop files won't open. Instead it just freezes and becomes unresponsive so I have to close Photoshop from going to 'End Task'. I am using CS6.

I have the latest graphics drivers installed, but this message does not always occur when I start Photoshop although the driver does not change. So, I guess there might be some other reason causing this error message.
I am running Photoshop on a Thinkpad with Windows XP Professional.
I am receiveing this message every time I open Photoshop. What dose this mean?
Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancments. Check the video card manufacturer's website for the latest software.
GPU enhancments can be enabled in the Performance panel of Preferences.
BTW. I am using Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended.
How can I get a twain driver to work on PSE9 (mac)?

I've been working with a firm for 6 weeks now, and had no major AutoCAD problems for the first 5 weeks. We're running AutoCAD 2010 on my machine, and it crashes quite often when I close drawings, which is quite annoying. But last week after opening a series of drawings to print some stuff for the boss, and CAD crashing after every 1 or 2 prints, I got the message:
A display driver file (.hdi) is missing or has been corrupted. The program will be closed.
This problem may be caused by missing .hdi files in the following location:
C:program filesAutoCAD Architecture 2012drv
I ran a repair, then did a reinstall, and when neither of those worked I just uninstalled and reinstalled the whole program. I still got the error message, but I had opened AutoCAD Architecture and was using that instead for a bit and saw Autodesk do an update in the background. So I booted up AutoCAD 2010 and it was working again so I guess it fixed the problem. I used it for a few more days then yesterday I had to open and print another series of drawings for the boss and it crashed again after every one, as usual, and when I sat back down and tried to open up a drawing to work on it I got the same error message again. Frustrated and angry, I switched over to AutoCAD Architecture and imported my Classic setting and used that for the next day. But this morning I had to open and print 3 more drawings for the boss and Architecture crashed after every one, then it started giving me the same error that regular AutoCAD has been giving me about the missing .hdi file. I copied the drv folder from a co-worker's computer and replaced mine with the working one, but neither version of AutoCAD is working again.
So I ask, what do I do now? I can't keep uninstalling and reinstalling AutoCAD every week because of these crashes and missing .hdi files. I need a real fix, something to fix the constant crashes and missing files. Sometimes I have to open multiple drawings to pull blocks or whatever from an older drawing, and I can't risk CAD crashing after I close these drawings and me possibly losing some work on the file I am actually working on at the time. this is making me way less productive at work spending all this time trying to get AutoCAD to work.
I have a brand new HP Probook 4530s with the correct requirements to run LT 2012 as well as a certified and tested graphics card and latest drivers, but as soon as I try using offset or trim functions while drawing, my screen goes blank for about 4 seconds and an error message below tells me my Display Driver has stopped working and has recovered.
No matter the screen resolution settings, it still does the same, also the laptop is still cool, so can't be a heat issue.
I've recently installed ACad13 and it shuts down on me at least once, sometimes twice a day - A message appears that says "Display driver fail to display". I have also installed 13 onto a brand new computer using Windows 7 (64 bit). Or is it a problem relating to the new pc - everything else seems to work ok on the computer

I own an excellent Bosto 19mb tablet, which is a cintiq clone (but much cheaper) which alas only works for pc. You can see it here: [URL] However, I'm a good mac/iOS developer so I've written an open source driver for it. Source is here: [URL]...
Â
It works really swetly with all but 2 applications:
Corel painter 12 and
Photoshop Cs5.1
Â
I'm downloading a trial of CS6 as I write this but I imagine it will have the same problem.I have the bosto tablet monitor and my wacom tablet both plugged into my system (driver conflicts don't exist on mac). I also pretty well understand all the HID events etc, needed to make the driver work. I'm generating identical events to my wacom tablet, which is why I can't for the life of me figure out why i have problems with photoshop.
Â
The problems are as follows:Photoshop CS5.1Holding the pen down and drawing does not draw a line, it will draw a dot, or a straight line from thepoint where the pen touched the tablet, to an approximation (looks like a mean) of the end point,In photoshop, in the brush dynamic settings, I get the "pressure not supported" icon. When my wacom pen generates an "enter" proximity event [that is, when I put it near the wacom tablet], the triangle dissapears,When my bosto pen (for which I'm writing the driver) enters [that is, when I put it near the bosto screen], the triangle appears again.
Â
These are my questions:How on earth does wacom get photoshop to treat it as a pressure sensitive device? Is photoshop listening to different events,or are there undocumented transactions going on which allow the wacom tablet to work, but cause my one to draw dots or straight lines?Where can i go to for support on this issue?
I've got AutoCAD LT 2010 and I can't run it due to either a DLL missing or a Display driver file not found. Anyway I get an error message window pop up then when I click ok there is a second window that appears and then it shuts down. I've tried both a repair and a reinstall but the issue keeps happening.
These are the messages I got;
1st window - DLL not found: C:Documents and SettingsShane.RichardMy Documentsgdi10Res.dll
2nd window - A display driver file (.hdi) is missing or has been corrupted. The problem may be caused by missing .hdi files in C:Program FilesAutoCAD LT 2010Drv

Currently my display card is a NVIDIA Quadro FX 500/600 PCI. One of the reasons I chose this card is it supprted dual montors. Now that I have upgraded to CS4 Extended I need to upgrade my display card.
When I went to Adobe's List of tested graphics display cards for Photoshop CS4 and seen such a long list of cards for Windows.I thought I would come here and ask if any body else has upgraded theirs. I would perfere to go with a nVidia card. Do any of these cards support dual monitors? Or how can I keep using my two montors? Price wise $250.00 is the highest I can go.
which card to get?
With all the hoop-la over Photoshop being able to work with a 1:1 native pixel operation at the Apple WWDC, I'm wondering if it will be available as a simple 'upgrade' to the existing Photoshop CS6 package or if there will be a separate app available for a premium upgrade price. I'm told that it's spectacular - running Photoshop in native Retina display mode - it might even convince me to my a MBP-Retina.
Â
But I'm confused about the 'upgrade' path - I know that the capabilities have been announced but have read nothing about the upgrade - will it cost anything?Â
The problem is every time a file dialog is displayed (like, file/open or file/place) I immediately termintaes with the "Could not complete your request because of a program error." message. Nothing in the logs or console messages.I contacted support, but they were apparently reading from a script - they had me change /Library (not ~/Library, but /Library) to global read+write - NFW. I did it temporarily and it still didn't work.
Â
I believe my issue stems fromt he fact that my user account was created years ago, back when the default user group (its gid) = its uid. When I look in Users/Groups, it shows "staff" (which is gid 20), but the directory (and I assume its execute permissions) is set to 502, same as the uid. I tried to change the directory group ownership (the entire /User tree for this user) to gid 20, but it still wouldn;t work.
Â
Since it works for the other user (created in Mountain Lion), I assume it must be related to this legacy permissions situation, but I can;t figure out what I need to change. CC loads, and I can load a file from Lightroom, but it will not display the file dialog.
I just ordered the CS4 upgrade as a download because I wanted the serial number right now because I'm going on a 6 week trip. This is the first download upgrade I've done for this product because I've had trouble with download upgrades for other products. I won't have trouble with this install, but what I'm curious about is what happens when I get a new computer and want to install Photoshop. Most upgrade products ask for the previous CD and a serial number. In this case, I have it, but when I upgrade next time, my previous will be a download. I'm hoping that Adobe took care of this problem with download upgrades.  Obviously I prefer not to have to install old products on a new computer in order to get a current product to work. Â
