I'm trying to place some pictures (.jpeg, bitmap, whatever) onto an inventor drawing but it won't let me. I see when you create a sketch in a drawing there is an "image" option in the insert tab, however this option is always grayed out for me no matter what I try.
The way I insert pictures on a drawing now is just to create a part, put the image as a decal on that part and create a view in a drawing with a shaded view. However with this option the lighting shows up and kills the image quality and it seems too complicated to be the correct way.
I am running inventor 2010 suite with service pack 2 and when I try to insert a JPEG or BMP into a Drawing Sheet (not a sketch on a part file), the image does not appear. I have done this on previous versions numerous times and it worked perfectly fine.
The message which appears on the screen says "TEMPEMBED.BMP" and it has a photoshop CS4 logo. When I do a print preview, nothing appears on the page. I have opened up a previous drawing sheet, which has a JPEG & BMP inserted and the image is shown, but when I try to insert another image on the same drawing sheet, the same thing happens.
I am running a pretty fast machine, with an intel i7 processor and a pretty hardcore graphic card.
I want to know how to create name, date, drawing no. ETC,=.... automatically, In title block in inventor. i don't know how to give type and property in that its not accepting, its showing what i am typed
I could not get the code to work for me, and I am not a programmer or pretend to be. I need to take a model and create a dwg with ilogic. It only needs to be one flat pattern view and one isometric view.
I also need it to have center marks for all the holes and I need to add certain dimensions.
I've got some IGES files, which I want to place into an assembly, and then create a drawing of the assembly.
If I open the IGES and place it in a drawing it works. If I create an assembly, place the same part, and then try and put the assembly into the drawing it doesn't work.
Attached is the IGES file. I'm using Inventor 2011.
I'm attempting to create a model that autmotaically derives ready-to-go drawings. I've gotten pretty far in doing so but have a few issues with regards to dimensioning. As I'm sure you're aware, when the model changes, a dimension to that feature, which has been removed, is also deleted and some those dimensions do not return once the model is changed back.
I have looked into using different view representations, but have found that they do not accommodate feature supression.
Is there a way to program in the dimensioning of a view.
Create center points for of the holes and center lines.
And for a feature note such as "Hole and Thread" dimensioning, when the model expands, the leader and text length do not change and proceed into the view. Is there a way to fix or anchor the text to a certain spot on the drawing, and have the leader length expand and change accordingly to that point.

I am trying to create a new base view in drawing-document.
I can get hold of the view but cant find a way to set reference data --- would like to set the "Line Style" to "As Parts" and "Hidden Line Calculation" to "All Bodies".
I was just asked to take an existing drawing and "fudge" the drawing with new dimensions to create a variation. So I over rode the dimensions and edited the title block date/drawn by.
I replaced the model reference HOWEVER......I have not been able to CHANGE the title or drawing number (despite the fact that the replaced model has the iProperties that I want).
I suspect this is due to the fact that the drawing is set to NOT update (I have red lightning bolt).
Can I get away with doing what I want without recreating the whole drawing?

I'd like to add a sketch to my drawing - a sketch that is independent of any other views. Is it possible to make this sketch have a scale associated with it instead of being 1:1?
Right now I am just overriding all of my dimensions.
From a VB.Net program, I'm trying to create a dimension on a drawing document between two parts in an assembly. I can get the parts using component occurrence. The line marked below throws the following error: The parameter is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070057 (E_INVALIDARG)).
As you may see, I have allocated memory for both "Edge" and "Face" (Dim oEdge1 As Face) albeit one is commented out. Attached is the screen shots from the attribute helper add-in. In it, you will notice that the attributes are of type: "Face".

I use the same sketch to create a break out view in one type of drawing. I may be blind, but I can't seem to find a way to save that sketch and reuse it when I want to create a break out view.
As I know, the balloon in Inventor drawing (.idw) is always associated with partslist or BOMview, is it true? But the result is not always what I want. I have to override the partslist generated balloon manually many many occations.
Can I create an independent balloon where I can assign the number (or even alphabet text) directly. Is there any API to create such independent balloon which can attach to a drawing curve?
I have assemblies that are comprised of reference parts - the assembly is a purchased part such as an air cylinder. I have them as reference only in the assembly (ie right click on the parts in the model tree->BOM Reference->Reference). I do it this way so I can adjust the air cylinder how I need it, but still only asign one part number to the whole assembly - as an example we'll say "cylinderX" is the part number, and filename is "cylinderX.iam"
The problem arises when I put cylinderX.iam into other assemblies and try and make drawings of those assemblies. Even though cylinderX.iam is not a reference part (but all it's sub components are), it shows up in an IDW just like reference parts. I am able to make it show up how I want by editing the view properties (Edit View->Model State Tab->Reference Data Line Style "as parts"), but I still cannot balloon cylinderX.iam. It shows up in the parts list, but I cannot attach a balloon to it.

API enhancement/fix in SP1: Cannot create a radius dimension on circular drawing curves projected from spline edges.Does it in some way trying to refer to the issue with nonplanar arcs turning into splines in drawings saved-as AutoCAD .DWG?
I am using AutoCAD LT 2009, and am having some problems.
I want to have some jpeg images on my cad drawing, so i just insert the image, which is fine. I can print this fine, and allis good. however, when i go to PDF the drawings, using a standard downloadable DWG - PDF convertor, the jpegs dissapear. everything else is fine, but the jpegs are no longer on the PDF'ed drawing.
I tried to use the "import" under file, but it didn't see the jpegs that I want to import. In fact, it didn't see anything that's in the file. It said "file empty".
I have a company logo that is a jpeg, I can insert it in a title block but when i print the drawing in black and white it is a blur due to the dark colors in the logo. Is there a way to convert it to a drawing so I can adjust colors/size to plot properly?
I am having trouble now resizing my jpeg after I have dragged it into my CAd drawing. I usually do this and am able to select the jpeg in my drawing and then grab the corner and resize it to fit in the space I need it to fit in... but I am not allowed to even select the jpeg after it has been inserted int to the drawing...
I am working on the layout space in the dwg, I thought if I worked in model space it would allow me to select the jpeg, this does not work ....
today client send me one drawing which is on jpep file format so i want to convert that file into autocad so can you people refer me some go0d converting software....
I have a script that makes PDF-file with suffix revision. Now I want to expand this script so it even makes a STEP-file of the 3d-file connected to the drawing. This would make all manufacture files in one button. That should be nice..
How will i manage with this since the active document is the drawing not the part. (see code below)
Set oDoc = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument Call oDoc.SaveAs("C:UsersGoranWeDesktop est estfile.stp", True)
we have just upgraded from Inv 2011 to 2013. I am trying to create the drawing templates in 2013 by using the blank 2013 template and then copying our border from 2011 onto it. This works a treat apart from 1 thing.
The i properties do not get copied over as well so the sheet is blank from drawing number, title and the custom properties etc.
I've an old countour map (hard copy drawn ages ago) which now I want to digitize.
I've scanned this map (can be saved in JPEG, PDF etc format) however I don't know if there is an easy way to create contour lines from this JPEG image.
I am self taught on acad 2008, and have created a complex 3d drawing over the last year or so. But I need it to be represented in a mechanical drawing. I tried flatshot, but this is not true to form. Is there a way to do this? (an easy way)
