I have created an iLogic panel which allows me to control my revision a lot easier and puts my entered data into the parameters of the sheet itself, is there a way to have this show up on the drawing itself for a template?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSetting up a tabulated ipart drawing template. Which is better...one drawing file with a table or individual drawings for each tabulation? Also does one method work better than the other when introducing vault?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently made a new drawing template with ilogic prompts for entering data for all fields within the template. It also sets view sizes etc. I have lots of master drawings, which are reused when sizes etc change for a contract, which i would like to transfer to this new template. Drawing Resource Transfer Wizard does not offer this function.
I could get all drawings in a folder copied to specific sheet size on the master template. As the template will probably be developed further in the future I'm very loathed to do this take manually.
A way to create a copy of an open part by starting from a template part file and recreating all the features?
Is there a simple way to copy a sketch definition from one part to another using either VBA or VB.net? Is there a way to access the browser so the order of feature creation can be copied?

View 7 Replies View Relatedthere is a way to change the template used for a part or assembly. The problem is that I created a template to fit my needs but I had to update it and the update doesn't effect the parts created with the old version one. How do update the templates of the files created using the old template?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am working on creating a new part file Template. Any useful and productive iLogic functions those are already available.
A while ago, I had seen one that would simply triger when part was checked in or saved. It would check if the material feild was utilzed or forgotten at Default.
share if there are any good iLogic functions that we might benefit from.

To create my new part, i used the deriven part of another part, and used only ‘Body as work surface’ before inserting in my new part.
When I create the drawing of my new part, why is it that I still see all the ‘Body work surfaces’ of the direven part?
When I make it on my other computer I dont see it... so it is surely an option…
We just installed the new version of 2012 Product Design Suite. I've spend many hours creating great little ilogic dialog boxes to populate iproperty fields using custom iproperties and then automatically place this data on the .idw file when the view is placed on the new drawing. All works great when the part is created with my new 2012 part template and then placed on my new 2012 idw template. The trouble is with parts that were created with 2011 Inventor. Obviously, the old template does not have the ilogic data built into it. Is there a way to upgrade/migrate the part template file from 2011 to 2012 on an existing part?
I think I'm asking for a miracle here, but I have an assembly with 40-50 parts that I created in 2011 and now need to build the idw files for them and would really like to be able have the customized iproperties added to the existing part files.
I am using inventor 2010 sp1. I have a content center part that I want to replace the family template. I am having problems doing so on random components. Sometimes it lets me and sometimes not. I cannot pinpoint any differences or irregularities between the different library parts.
I am recieving the message indicating..."Import Part Invalid"
Here is my process
Open from content center and save to another folder with or without the same name.
Open Content Editor
right click and replace family template
Recieve this message. "Import Part Invalid"
Note that i made no changes to the file.
I've got an error everytime I try to replace a Family template in my Content Center (I work with Inventor 2011).
I try with a simple part. Here's the steps:
1- Create a simple part (cube with Width, Height and Depth parameters)
2- Create an iPart with 12 members
3- Publish the part in the Content Center
4- Modify the part (add a column in table)
5- Save
6- Open Content Center Editor and click on Replace Family Template
Got the error: "Import Part is Invalid".
I tried "Save As" instead of "Save" and got the same result.
i.e., is it possible to create a custom iproperty which would enable the user to attach a particular attribute to every component within an assembly without manually going through each component.
For example, If I have a pipework sub-assembly within a manifold assembly. I want to create a custom iProperty for 'Component Type' which would be called 'Pipework' for every component called up within that subassembly.
Likewise for a frame could you have the above custom property attached to every component but called up as 'framework' instead etc.
I have crated a drawing of the part. Now I must be updating the drawing template. How I can update the drawing templates to old drawings?

When editing the Title Box in a Drawing Template and attempting to insert a LOGO (bmp file) the logo file justs show an icon for the Logo and not the Logo
On my company's default drawing template, I have a text block on there with some drawing notes. We often edit some of the notes on the end at each drawing so I didn't create it on the "title block" layer, rather it's on the "top" layer. I also added (in the template) a revision table with Rev. A being "Released for Production" (because we are weird). How can I constrain those on the sheet so when I change sheet size, they stay in the same position relative to the corners of the sheet?

i am having a BOM template for the parametric modelling i have created using the excel sheet input link.
when i create the drawing from the model the default Bom part list is coming, instead of that i need to get the Excel Bom Template i have created based on the input excel link.
How to get the Excel Bom Template in the drawing.
We are going to be using autodesk vault and it is my understanding that vault searches the iproperties defined in inventor documents. Is there a preferred way to set up the iproperties in the part, assy and drawing environments.
If I do a search in vault and the iproperty is only defined in the drawing, the main search results will only give me the drawing(s) and I will have to show dependencies to find the associated model or assy, right. If I define the iproperty in the part, model and drawing I will have to fill in the value of the iproperty possibly in three places. If filling in the value in three places is preferred is there an easier way to fill out the values.
I made iLogic for assembly and drawing, now i want to update drawing template parameters thru ilogic, as i already linked Fx(parameters) & iProperties to Template, but for updating template i need to close file and open again that file,
currently m using this method.
What is the solution for updating drawing template (like Model Description, Drawing no.).
Is there a way to have a part, which is a part of a larger assembly, get the title, subject, etc. from its parent assembly? I have my template set to use the "Title" property in my title block but I'd like each individual part drawing to pull that "title" from the assembly, not from the part itself.

I'm trying to automate the drawing-creation in our company. Steps I've taken:
- create new drawingdocument with template
- Save new drawingdocument
Problem: Creation of new document works, but the next step, saving it to a specific location, fails. Error handler is initiated and displays error: Invalid procedure call or argument.
Used
Dim DXF_DWG as DrawingDocument'Create new drawing based on templateSet DXF_DWG = ThisApplication.Documents.Add(DocumentTypeEnum.kDrawingDocumentObject, ThisApplication.FileOptions.TemplatesPath & "Folded and Flatpattern DXF.dwg", True)
'Save new drawing to specific locationCall DXF_DWG.SaveAs("C:TempTest.dwg", False)
As told, the VB-code raises an error on the last command. What am I doing wrong? What are the correct steps in VBA to create a new drawing document based on a template and save the newly created drawing to a desired location?
