AutoCAD Inventor :: Constant Not Responding And Freezing
Aug 7, 2013
Ok, so I just got a new computer after having to deal with "Not Responding" from my old computer all the time just to find out I still have this issue with a brand new computer. It's really frustrating because it will do this all the time with small assemblies, big assemblies, parts, it doesn't matter. It also can be at any random moment from rotating the model to adding a constraint to saving. It doesn't seem to have any real pattern it just seems to happen all the time.
I have just loaded the student version of AutoCAD 2012 onto my brand new HP Pavilion Notebook which has 8 GB of memory - Processor AMD A8-3530MX with HP Graphics 1.90 GHz - running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
I have created a file in Adobe Illustrator which I converted to a vector image and exported it to AutoCAD. I have loaded the image and have cleaned it up. I am now trying to re-scale it and my session keeps freezing. When I look at the task manager I see that the program is not responding. I have ended the task many times now!
The program works fine until I try to edit the boundary of the topography. As soon as I click "edit boundary", the screen goes black for about an hour, then comes back with about 25% loaded. This cycle repeats until the loading is complete, so it takes me a few hours just to enter edit mode. The file is only 17, 280 KB, and Ive been running 240,000 KB files without an issue whatsoever.
I recently upgraded from Elements 9 to Elements 11. Now when I work in the Organizer or Editor the program frequently freezes up and then displays the message "program not responding". If I wait long enough - several minutes - it begins to run again. I never had this problem with Elements 9
I am trying out the free trial of LR4. My OS is Windows 7. The program is constantly freezing up and posting "Not Responding" at the top of my screen. I really dolike the program and would like to purchase it at the end of the trial, but only if the "Not Responding" stops.
why I might be seeing this error? I get this as soon as I select the "Constant Speed" option. I haven't input any other values yet. I've already set the "constant speed" option on the animation timeline menu. I also only get this error when this sub-assembly is inserted into a higher level assembly. If I animate the same components in the sub-assembly file, it works fine. What am I missing? There are no parameters holding these components in place in this upper assembly either, that was the first thing I checked.
I have just upgraded to 2012 and I get a brief freeze when I enter a command such as line.
It only appears to happen when dynamic input is on or while I am in ortho mode. It seems to freeze while computing the coordinates for displaying. I have looked up the help files on direct entry thinking it might be linked to that but that didn't find any solution.
One of the computers at my office keeps randomly freezing, i.e. Windows freezes, not just Inventor, when working on a simple frame generator assembly. The freezing seems to be completely random, it can happen 2 minutes after opening the assembly or it can happen after 2 hours.
This only happens on this one computer with this one assembly.
The computer in question is a new Dell Precision M4600 (like a week old) running Autodesk Factory Design Suite Premium 64 bit (including Autodesk Inventor standard edition). Installing Service Pack 1 had no effect on the problem.
We just installed the Autodesk Package. AutoCAD works fine, Revit seems to work, but we are having the display drive not responding, when we try to start a sketch in Revit.

I´m having a problem with the Inventor 2012 Task Scheduler. I´ve done a couple of migration tasks over the last 2 months, actually quite some big tasks on our Vault Server.
Now I´m getting no more access to the application, it´s either showing a message that the server is busy and not responding or the application starts up and sits for a minute in the task bar and then opens up but still I can´t click any menus or create a report to control the tasks I've done earlier.
But I need to check the last couple of tasks to see which files have been successfully migrated and which are not. I know that I can view the logfiles manually but that still leaves me with no more tasks that I need to run to fix our database and Inventor files.
Let the application run with administrator rights doesn't work either. What else could be done to get the task scheduler back up running?
Every time you work on large assembly or drawings inventor goes not responding and in the task bar an ADApplicationButton could be seen which is running in the background while inventor hangs.
I just installed Autodesk Inventor Pro 2014 as a student for my engineering class and I have yet to get it to work properly. Every time I try to open the program, it will open to the main selection page. But the first click I do on the screen causes it to say 'not responding'. I have to close the program and try opening it again. The second time, it does not even get past the opening screen. It freezes and I end up having to log off of my user and log back in. I have the 64-bit version that matches my computer.
I have looked at all the discussions relevant to this problem and can't find an answer. I am doing the TOOLING TUTORIALS for Inventor 2014. My O/S is Windows 7, and my Graphics card is a Gforce GTX 570, so I know my equipment is up to doing these tutorials. But, every time I click OK to start the pattern in the section "Patterning Mold Assembly Components", I get a message saying "Pattern (not responding)". I have tried and retried at least a dozen times to be sure I followed all instructions to the letter.
The model tree browser is freezing multiple times per day. Even if I close the browser and re-enable it in the View>User Interface menu, it is still frozen. It wont unfreeze until I close Inventor completely and re-open it.
Haven't figured out the trigger yet but after working in INV for a little while the "Application Menu" (used to be the File menu) does not respond to clicking on any buttons..Flyouts work but when you press the actual button nothing happens..
All other ribbon bar buttons function properly. Simply closing INV and restarting fixes the problem temporarily.
-Inventor 2013 SP1.1 (Issue) -Inventor 2011 SP2 (No Issue)
Templates have been coverted up from 2011, keeping copies of the old templates in separate folders all under the same parent directory.Have 2013 mapped to the folder with updated templates located on a network drive. Total of 18 temolates including the standard templates.
The Issue:I start Inventor 2013 or open an .ipt/.iam ect. I now want to create a new file so I click the "New" Icon.Inventor freezes for 10-15seconds and finally shows the templates. After that if you click on any of the templates it freezes instantly. Or if you scroll the browser bar down to navigate the folder. 15-35 seconds
After selecting the correct template it freezes for about 15 seconds. For those keeping track Thats 40-65 seconds just to open a drawing...
For Inventor 2011.Click, Click, Click. Open...Takes maybe 5 seconds.
How I would be able to grab the block constant attribute by searching via tag.
e.g. block has a constant attribute 'Color' with value of 'red' and I wish to attain 'red'
I am currently obtaining non constant attributes using:
Dim attRef As AttributeReference = DirectCast(tr.GetObject(attId, OpenMode.ForRead), AttributeReference)
and grabbing the '.textstring' when looking at the '.tag'
How do I go about this with similar logic but pointing to constant attributes? I have tried searching thoroughly and almost all results for me were in VBA.
I have a client that wants to put in a constant flow into an inlet and have SSA calculate the HGL downstream of that (as well as add additional flows at additional inlets). Is there a way to do this? I tried adding an "Initial flow" to a pipe but after running the analysis, that flow wasn't the peak of the pipe (I used 1cfs for the initial flow and the peak was 0.77 cfs).
I have a polyline that has been inserted into a block. I want to scale the block so that the start and end points of the polyline can change but the width of the polyline remains constant.
C3D2012..I have an assembly with left and right curb subassemblies, they are spaced about 1 m apart. I want to connect the BOC's with a constant slope median. I bring in the median and connect it to the Left BOC and it attaches, but shoots the median for 20 m across the assembly to the right. I tried to put a marked point on the right BOC prior to bringing in the median assembly, but the same thing happens. I changed the marked point name to RTC (Right Top Curb) and also changed the name to match in the median subassembly, with the same results.
Any proper way to insert the median and get it to connect properly.
in order to obtain a seabed profile for a school project, I need to get the Y coordinate of a polyline on several Kilometers with a fxed X step of 2m between each point.
For the moment, the only manual solution I have found is to create a vertical line every 2m and to get the distance between the intersection of this line with my polyline and an horizontal line representing the mean sea level.
Is there any way to automatize it because it is very long to do manually and I don't have enough time ?
I did not succeed in doing this with dataExtraction. I also found on the internet a LISP file which extract the coordinates of points contained in the window. Nevertheless, I was told it is not possible to create automatically points on a curved polyline with a fixed x step.
What I need at the end is an excel file of this type to use it in another software:
Getting a lot of message pop ups about not accessible dst file. In conjunction with this is constant slow down if the sheetset is open with the blue cursor wheel constantly thinking. If the sheet set is closed, this immediately fixes this.
Ruled out network problems as 2012 works fine. I believe this to be isloated to 2013.
I am trying to determine whether or not the following is a bug:
1. Begin creating a new block using the block editor. 2. Add an object (circle) for reference. 3. Add an attribute with the following properties: Constant, Visible, Value (i.e. "34"), Justify: "Middle-Center." Make the tag 4. Save the block, exit block editor. 5. Insert the block into model space.
At least on my system, the constant attribute always shows up left justified. If I explode the block after inserting it, the constant attribute shows correctly. In addition, the constant attribute seems to be left justified with the TAG label from the block definition itself.
I've got a block that I want to scale in pspace, but I would like the attrib height to remain constant even at different scales. I have used annotative blocks in vports with much success, but I would like to do the same thing only in pspace.
I know it can be done usign Pipe networks and feature lines and a massive waste of time.. But I just want ot offset my FG to show a line constant offset. Can this be done? If so how?
