Jul 11, 2012Is there any auto generate command to retrive the part drawing from assembly drawing rather than open part one by one to retrive the drawing?

View 9 RepliesI have created a very simple yet effective tool for starting a new manifold assembly using iLogic. The rules and windows essentially fill out the size of the block, material type, description, project and part number.
Below I have a hydraulic manifold I have designed and from that I created the final .ipt of the internals. The way I did this (which may not be the best method) was to create a second .ipt matching the LxWxH of the original manifold, next I inserted and aligned both into another .iam file, lastly I derived a third .ipt from a subtraction resulting in the third image below. This is a bit time consuming to create, but has been very useful in error checking our designs. I would like to see if iLogic is capable of allowing me to automate this so we can easily create these internal flowpath .ipt's for every manifold we design.
The last feature of this L-Bracket is a fold. When I create the flat pattern it is only unfolded, not completely flattened. Prior to INV 2009, I could get a wireframe flat pattern with the part still folded. Since then, I have to unfold to get a flat pattern. The only way to show the formed part and flat pattern in IN2012 is to use a derived part with the base component supressed and the base component with the fold supressed.
How to be able to simply flatten this part so I don't have to do extra work with two parts
I am wondering if Inventor can generate a Derived part in Sheet Metal Design? Then we can still keep and edit the sheet metal features ? It will be a sweet convenience for the symmetric design.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm want to reproduce a differential housing. Therefor I need a part which is identical to the inside of the housing. In other words, I need a positive part inside of the housing.
I've tried to do this with Derived parts by placing the differential housing in a large block. But then I get a block where lining of the housing is missing. So i can't do anything with this derived part.
I have attempt to upload the file, but it is too large. Even when i try to compress it.
I am trying to generate automated drawing for my assembly and iam trying to run the following code
Imports Inventor.ViewOrientationTypeEnum
Imports Inventor.DrawingViewStyleEnum
dim oDrawingDoc as DrawingDocument
dim oPartDoc as Document
dim oSheet as sheet
dim oTG as TransientGeometry
dim oView1 as DrawingView
[code]....
but when i run the code its asks me whether you want to generate the drawings, but when i say yes shows runtime argument error as show below
Error in rule: Rule0, in document: pin
The parameter is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070057 (E_INVALIDARG))
when i ask for more info it shows the following error

After Part is inserted into an assembly and after the Part is changed ( say the length from 16.25 to 17.75), How do I auto change the "Part Number" to match this new length in the parts list?

There is an ID field set as the primary key. Map wants me to manually enter in the ID. How do you auto generate this field?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to set up my cad so that when I save a file, a *.pdf file (with the same name as the saved *.dwg file) is automatically generated and dropped in a specific folder. I think that the auto publish should do this for me, but have been unable to get it to generate anything. When I hit save it is prompting me to do the publish, then after I say yes, it shows a brief status bar as if it is working, but when I try to go to the folder to which the publish option is mapped it is still empty.
View 9 Replies View RelatedTo create my new part, i used the deriven part of another part, and used only ‘Body as work surface’ before inserting in my new part.
When I create the drawing of my new part, why is it that I still see all the ‘Body work surfaces’ of the direven part?
When I make it on my other computer I dont see it... so it is surely an option…
We are using iPart - iAssembly workflow with Inv-2013 and Vault Basic 2013
My question is related to released state of iparts. Currently we are generating/ releasing
all the iparts when new member is added in order to manintain the parent child version relationship
Example : say i have a ipart 41020.ipt and i have members 41020- 001 ~ 008 . I check out the parent
from Vault and add 009 member to it.
Question :
Do I have to generate all and check those in to maintain the version relationship between the child and parent inside
Vault 2013 ?
Or
Only generating 009 will maintain version relationship inside Vault 2013

i made a sheet metal part.ipt but that file is not updating immediately, i have added
iLogicVb.UpdateWhenDone = True
InventorVb.DocumentUpdate()
also tick marked in parameters for IMMEDIATe update
I am working for a company right now and we design cases. The design process involves creating a rectangle of length and width, extruding it to height and than building a case around it. the sides are 20mm offset from the item itself and the top and bottom are 27mm offset from the item itself.
Is there any way I can avoid having to repeat what im doing over and over every time i create a case. We also have standard latches and handles. The top is also standard being 60mm panel height. There is also standard for spacing between the top panels and bottom panels to allow for tongue and groove.
I would like to know if there were any way to generate a drawing (.idw) using given parameters from i.e. macro, VB, or etc. What am trying to do is set up a template for a mass produced component that we manufacture that has many different variations. Usually the dimensions that changer are the OD, ID, and length. Is there anyway for me to accomplish this in Inventor Premium 2012?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a sheet metal part with a fully dimensioned drawing made for it. I then make a mirrored (derived) part out of the original. Is there an easy way to get a fully dimensioned drawing of that mirrored part?
I have tried making a copy of the original parts drawing and then replacing the model that is referenced in the drawing but that just gets me a drawing with a bunch of pink dimensions and I have to drag all the dimension points to reattach them.
im using inventor 2012.im trying to put a part list on my drawings.but for some reason, the part list is using a Gost Form. ( diffrent layout and polish/ russian text )How do I go back to default.I have allready tried to reinstall inventor, no go.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way without deleting the part from the assembly to make said part not show up in the drawing? I need to be able to do this in the model and not in the drawing. Suppressing the part create a level of detail, but I would have to create new views in the drawing and I don't want to do that.
The part is used in some cases, but not in others so I don't want to delete it from the assembly.
I set up default tolerances in my part and would like to have them displayed in the drawing. I used the "Retrieve Dimensions" tool but they aren't showing up. I have the Tolerance Method set to Default.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhat would be best work flow for showing a part and having drawing for the different stages of machining, I would like to have a print with different sheets at say a lathe stage, than a broached part stage, then a milled stage. Should I do a part for each stage, just save to a different name or Start with a part from the first op, than derive it to another part, and make that part complete on second op, than derive it and make a third part, and so on.
Would like to do this, because we make special shaped part from round stock, so need print's to tell floor people rough blank form. Than mills machine it into final form from that lathe blank.
Similar to casted and machined drawing
I am trying to move a component within a part drawing, not an assembly. When I do "move bodies" it wants to move every extrusion within my drawing. If I click move face, then I have to click every face that I want to move (which is time consuming) and then it often times doesn't work? Sometime it works other times it just moves the origin indicator and doesn't move the faces I have selected.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Inventor 2010 and would like each view of a drawing to show a different machining step. I.e.. A rough cut dimension and then the finish cut dimension. Is it possible to create the part as it would be machined and then use the EOP marker to set each view. Would like to model one part and get all views.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to update an existing drawing to reference a new part or assembly file while maintaining associated views and possibly the annotation also?
I have tasks which require frequent subtle changes to assemblies. These assemblies will then be given a completely new file name, so it is no longer just a revision change but a new part altogether.
Is it possible to get the "actual" calculated area of the face of a part from a drawing view? I looked at the drawing view object in the api but didn't find what I was looking for. What my goal is, I want to calculate the actual square foot of this piece and then subtract it from the overall square foot so I can calculate waste. Perimeter's of pieces can be in multiple forms, radial, straight or a combination of the two. See image below.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently working on a product where I want to make 2 part lists in my drawing of the same assembly. The first parts list has to view all the parts that are always delivered with our product, and the second one has to show the optional parts and features that could be delivered with the product.
I want both lists to be categorized the same way (comments, material, name), I want the numbers of the list to be chronological (also I don't want the second parts list to start the numbering at 1) and I want both lists to stay connected with their balloons.
Is there any way this can be done, like adding or removing part links to the list manually?
I wonder if it's possible to see with ilogic if a part exciste in all others view (in assembly) of the same sheet?
