I created a library of Dynamic cabinets in AutoCAD LT 2013. I have tested them and used them in drawings. I just upgraded to 2104 and when I insert those same dynamic blocks into a drawing, the parameters do not show and i can not use the dynamic block as intended. when I click on it...tons ot grips show up and no parameters.
View 2 RepliesI am drawing a block that containes a number of other blocks which I want to control parametrically. For example. In one block, I have set the diameters of a circle restricted to 10 and 12-mm. I have a second block that also contains the circles which have similar restrictions. I now want to control the diameters of the circles from a single source - similar to shared parameters in Revit. Am I able to share a global parameter between blocks?
Eventually, I want to control a 2D drawing from a table only. Should I be using .Net or AutoLisp for this.
I used object snap tracking for years.Since I upgraded to AutoCad 2014 why does object snap tracking only work with Dynamic input turned on?
Personally I do not like to work with Dynamic imput on, when I use object snap tracking with out DI turned on it doen't work right. Past versions worked fine. What do I do to get this back?
I recently updated our CAD Library to dynamic blocks. In the process of updating our drawings, we realized that we could not use BLOCKREPLACE to replace dynamic blocks with another dynamic block (with new name) once the dynamic element has been changed. I realize that this changes the state of the block and anonymous block names are created.
I need a simple solution so that members of my group can easily replace dynamic blocks with new dynamic blocks.
I have an employee in our office with Autocad LT 2012, none of our dynamic blocks work on his machine? We have another machine with Autocad LT 2009 and the blocks work just fine? I can create dynamic blocks on the the machine, but when I close out of the block editor, none of the dynamic block grab-point show up. Is there a setting or somthing that needs to be turned on?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulty figuring out how to get my detail callout block to work properly. What I would like the block to do is scale/stretch the circle so a larger area can be detailed. Linked to this function I would like the attributed tag with line to stay on the outside of the circle once it's adjusted.
Another function I can't figure out is rotating the the text/line so it can be located anywhere around the circle. I currently have a vertical and horizontal flip but the attributed text doesn't remain on top of the line. So, I guess there are 2 things I can't get to work in that one.

Our office created a library of blocks for use in our dwgs in the early days of Autocad. Since installing MEP2013 when inserting the blocks many of them have mysteriously changed from inches to millimeter units. We have to go back to each block(dwg) and change the units and rescale the blocks. We upgraded from MEP2012 and they were working fine.

attached is a file with 2 blocks called Drain and Drain X each have the same visibility states I want to replace Drain with Drain X to purge out Drain from my file.
I have opened an exported .dwg file from Vectorworks. I have been able to hide most items I wish to. My difficulty is that I have (what I think from reading and Youtube) is dynamic blocks (light instruments). They are on a layer that is turned off, yet they are still visible. I've played around in the block editor, but I really don't know what I'm doing. If need be I can delete the light instruments, but I'd rather not. If there is a command to hide all blocks? I tried to use the properties editor to change the color to white so they would disappear. That didn't work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a drawing border block for my users to insert into their drawings. Within the block there are dynamic blocks which have visibilty states. However when you insert the border block with the dynamic ones you can't do anything with them? Is there anyway of making the border 'flexible' or something so that it maintains the fact that it is a block with all the attributes but you can use the embedded dynamic ones. Other than the obvious edit block in place or block editor?

What i'm trying to do is have a block that contains a field linked to an object (Polyline) and read its length. My problem is that when you put a field in a block you have to define what it is looking for so if i select "Object" in the field its asking for that object while i'm in the block editor, is there any way to have it pause for user input so that i can select the object after the block has been inserted?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a dynamic block that contains a quick leader. The problem I have is when I go to my layout views the leader in the block does not show up. If I edit the block, change the layer of the leader and save it then the leader will show up in viewports. Other parts of the block are on the same layer and show up, it is just the leader for some reason.

It's just blank grey (where OSNAP, DUCS, and other fun stuff's icons should be).

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy company just upgraded to 2013 from 2012, and we are having problems copying and moving dynamic blocks. As we try to re-insert the object(s) after using the copy or move command, they disappear from the screen. If we save the drawing and restart AutoCAD, the objects are there where we inserted them, but we cannot figure out how to make the objects reappear without restarting the program (Undo does not work).
The objects in question are dynamic blocks created with AutoCAD Civil3D 2012. We suspect this might have something to do with conflicts between the two different versions of AutoCAD but we're not sure. There are 5 or 6 of us who have this problem.
Dynamic blocks not working on one new office computer with AutoCAD 2013 - The problem seems mainly with the stretch feature. some features like flip and visibility states seem to work. The blocks are good, they work on other machines and on saved files from that computer.
We have tried doing a repair with the disk and updating with service pack 1.1.
Other computer have AutoCAD MEP 2013, but these are not MEP features.
I read an older post (2007) regarding the blocks not working due to the shortcut menus in drawing area no checked in the options, but that does not seem to be the issue.
I've made annotative blocks and I've made dynamic blocks... My intent is to integrate both but I can't find a way to move dynamic block parameters separately at different annotative scales.
In other words, if I insert an annotative dimension and add multiple scales I can move the dimension grips independently at each scale. If I insert a dynamic block I want to be able to use the dynamic block's action "grips" to do the same. However, with a dynamic block, if I move a stretch action at one annotation scale it moves the action at all annotation scales.
The attached file shows a simple example.
Is it possible to select visibilty states of a dynamic block in a drawing, for ex. to count how many of each visiblity are in a drawing?
Ex.:
I have a drawing of a big pile plan with al lot of various piles in there. I made one dynamic block of the pile in which i can select what kind of pile i want to have visible. Now i want to count how many of each pile is in the pile plan.
If all different piles would be different blocks i could easily count with 'Block Reference' in 'Quick Select', but i dont know how to do the same with a dynamic block (which has one block name only) and its different visibilities.
What I would like to do is find a way to use a dynamic block, which has already been created, and once I put in the proper length, speed, type of conveyor, etc., it will automatically update an excel spreadsheet, for example a power estimate, or cost estimate sheet. Is this possible, if so, what is the quickest, and easiest way to do this?
Also, what formula would I use in excel to link back to the DWG?
We have just recently install Building Design Suite Standard 2014 and the tool palettes DO NOT work.
Clicking on the standard palettes that load with ACAD will not even work. We have also tried to make new ones and the will not MAKE (for lack of words).
Here is the Autocad warning it gives us:
Unable to execute the tool. Possible causes are:
-The tool is not registered properly. Please check your installation.
-the tool is from another application and is incompatible with the current application.
We are running a new copy and it IS registered.
I have created a dynamic block with several visiblility states. The block works great for what I need it for. however, I am trying to add one more action to the block but am having issues.
This block is essentially a 24" retail cabinet with the visibility states showing the different drawer and shelf configurations. I want to be able to lengthen the cabinet in 24" increments and have the visibility show for each 24" section.....e.g. I want a 10' cabinet so I bring in the 24" starter block. Then stretch the cabinet to the 10' mark, then I can chose any drawer/shelve config for each 24" section (they are all different).
I can get the block to stretch in 24" sections....no problem.....i just want the visibility state to be duplicated as well for each section. Now as it stretches, there is only one Vis state and it only populates the first cabinet.
I could do this by copying the block over and over 5 times.....but I am hoping there is a way to make this dynamic.
I have a block I am making into a Dynamic Block. I will be adding in different visibility states. Depending on the visibility state the block would need to be inserted from a different point.
My question is, is it possible to add multiple insertion points to a dynamic block so depending on the visibility state it defaults to the correct insertion point?
Noticed that the Dynamic Blocks in the Annotation Tool Palette are missing? Let me rephrase that, in the Tool palette they show up, but the dwg's that they reference are missing. I have 4 users that are currently testing Civil 3D 2013 and all of them are missing the files.
I'm sure I could copy them from 2012, but still.
we have moved from AutoCAD MEP 2012 to AutoCAD 2014 recently using Dynamic blocks with multiple visibility states.
in 2012 we could select a dynamic block with a specific visibility state and select similar, it would only select the visibility state that was previously selected.
in 2014 that is no longer an option WTH?
i have tried a couple of system variables to no avail (pickadd, selectionmode)2014
selectionmode is not a valid SV in 2012
the layer order will not function as soon as the block is made dynamic. I have been creating my blocks the harder way and still have more to do, so what to do.
The last time I asked the Autodesk technician, I was told it is a program (Autodesk) issue which I call a bug. I have tried the draw order and the Textofront still, no better result.
I found an interesting dynamic block. It has a clipping boundary but you can drag the 'leg' out of the boundary. How can I make such block?

I am trying to insert a block into a file in Acad 2014 and it comes in too large. If I insert the same block into the same file using Acad 2012 it comes in at the correct scale. Doesn't seem to matter if insunits is 0 or 1, or insunitsdefsource or insunitsdeftarget are also 0 or 1.
There must be some variable or variables I'm missing.
is there a way to make dynamic blocks stretchable similar to a mleader,
the blocks i create are only stretchable by grips, and not by crossing
(i am using linear or point parameter stretches)
