I am trying to get the door swing arc to scale correctly as the width of the box is changed.
But the block is defying logic by scaling the arc radius exactly 5 units short of what it should be.
I've tried deleting, recreating, and chaining the parameter over and over only to have the same problem each time.
I'm working on a dynamic door, that has specific parameters to change its size and orientation. Everything works pretty good, only the arc for the door won't react the way I want it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am looking to create a dynamic block that changes in scale, ex. If I have two (2) viewports in paper space, one 1/4"=1'-0" the other 1/8"=1'-0" I want my blocks to appear to be the same size in paper space.
Also, I would like my blocks to change attributes/features ex. If I have a "light switch block" I would like to have the option of switching the block from a 3-way switch, 4-way switch etc.
I would like to add a automatic property set definition for door "swingdirection" in my door schedule and replace the “left” with LH, “right” with RH and if neither (N/A) with DBL (for double leaf doors).
I thought I remembered being able to view source code in 2004 ADA for how to change and replace but I’m lost in 2013.
I have been creating dynamic blocks within a drawing by:
-creating wblock
-inserting wblock into drawing
-editing block to add dynamic properties
I have noticed that this is only keeping the dynamic properties for this one drawing! when i try inserting the block into a new drawing it's only a standard block.
How do i edit these so that they are insertable to any drawing?
Can you show the direction of swing in the door schedule?

Short of starting from scratch, is there a way to change the hinge side? Some restrooms have the hinge on the right side and others on the left. I'd like to be able to change this via a parameter. If I could figure out how, I'd add the param to the family. URL>...
I cleaned up my block and I am trying to use a field to reference a polyline for it's overall distance. The distance changes with my lookup action. After rotating and going back and forth from "On" - "Off" - "Both Off", then back to "On", the red polyline doesn't stretch back on it's original plane.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am currently running Revit Architecture 2011. I have interior elevations in my project, which include doors. The door swing lines show up solid in elevation. In fact there actually appear to be two of them. I want the elevation swing indication to be a center line style.
I have changed the swing elevation line type in object types to center (which is what I want).
I go to the elevations and there is no change in the swing indication line except that there still appear to be two lines (one on top of the other) where now one is center linetype and the other is solid. Seems like progress except that there is no actual visual difference.
There is only one symbolic line in the family. If I un-check the draw in foreground box the elevation line disapears entirely when reloaded into the project.
This is an OTB door. I can place it in a completely new template and it displays fine. So it I am thinking it is NOT the family. There must be some setting in the actual file itself controlling this and I am stumped.
Exploring a new field in LT here, was wondering if it's possible to use a flip-grip kind of parameter to control the scale of an object, kind of like an on/off switch.
In this case I have a straight line that is about 15mm. What I want is to be able to click a grip and it disappears ( scales down ) and when I click it again it reappears ( scales up ).
I know that this is possible through a lookup parameter or just a similar effect with a stretch grip, But I want to be able to just click a grip like the one for Flip and it re/appears.
I have 3 circles, randomly spaced. They will always be the same size. I want to resize them all about there centre points using just one parameter in the properties fly out. I've created individual linear/stretch for each circle, but I can't work out how to combine them.

I have a dynamic block that contains both geometry as well as text. I don't want the geometry to scale up based on the drawing scale but I do want the text to scle according to the drawing scale. I have tried making the text both annotative and non-annotative in the block and get the same result. I can get the text to scale properly if I make the entire block annotative but that also scales the geometry which is not accurate.

I would like to use a Y scale of 10 rather than a block with 10x the length because I have a field that returns a length parameter and I don't want that value to be 10x what it's supposed to be, and it would make things much easier to not have to multiply my values by 10x each time I use the block.

I am trying to design a column block, but following the above instructions for the root radius the radius moves when I test the block!
1. "move the center point to the center of the radius" What does this mean. I am selecting a liinear parameter, selecting the mid point of the arc first and then the arc center point.
2. "Add the Scale Action to the Move Action". How do you add the scale action to the move action.
Any way to get a scale bar/title block text to reflect plotting at half size?
We use the common (24x36) sheet size for all projects, but when plotting we send out half size (12x18) as well. This means the scale bar reading 1"=40' is no longer correct. It should read 1"=20'. I would like to automate this.
I've made annotative blocks and I've made dynamic blocks... My intent is to integrate both but I can't find a way to move dynamic block parameters separately at different annotative scales.
In other words, if I insert an annotative dimension and add multiple scales I can move the dimension grips independently at each scale. If I insert a dynamic block I want to be able to use the dynamic block's action "grips" to do the same. However, with a dynamic block, if I move a stretch action at one annotation scale it moves the action at all annotation scales.
The attached file shows a simple example.
I have created a dynamic block with several visiblility states. The block works great for what I need it for. however, I am trying to add one more action to the block but am having issues.
This block is essentially a 24" retail cabinet with the visibility states showing the different drawer and shelf configurations. I want to be able to lengthen the cabinet in 24" increments and have the visibility show for each 24" section.....e.g. I want a 10' cabinet so I bring in the 24" starter block. Then stretch the cabinet to the 10' mark, then I can chose any drawer/shelve config for each 24" section (they are all different).
I can get the block to stretch in 24" sections....no problem.....i just want the visibility state to be duplicated as well for each section. Now as it stretches, there is only one Vis state and it only populates the first cabinet.
I could do this by copying the block over and over 5 times.....but I am hoping there is a way to make this dynamic.
I have a block I am making into a Dynamic Block. I will be adding in different visibility states. Depending on the visibility state the block would need to be inserted from a different point.
My question is, is it possible to add multiple insertion points to a dynamic block so depending on the visibility state it defaults to the correct insertion point?
I have made two outer wall and joined them together. Door cut correctly both walls but Window does not do it. What's the problem.

Is there anyway to link standard AutoCAD Grips and there commands to Dynamic Block Actions? I want to stretch an arc by its midpoint grip. This accomplishes something that no other commands do.

As the block has door frame section on both ends, i need to place the linear distance parameter near the door hinge (and not on the basepoint for block insertion). This extends the door by 4" from the value of door opening i manually enter. Suppose i enter 42", the resultant opening will be 46". how can i make the block to accept only predefined sizes like 2'9", 3'0" etc

Once it is placed I understand the swittches which adjust swint, door width and jamb thickness, but I usually have to use rotate and move command to get the door where I want it.

I have drag-and-dropped a door onto a new layer of my drawing (units = mm).

The blue lines are the hinge corner of the door. I can't find a way to bring it down to a manageable size. Block Editor doesn't indicate any constraints, I just can't find a control which will reduce this thing's size.
I have created a pretty nice dynamic door block with flip parameters - size changes - and visibility parameters for jamb/no jamb. However I would like to add an option for changing the door from 90 degrees, 45 degrees and closed. I can't use the visibility parameter since I am using that for jamb/no jamb option. I was hoping to add a rotate parameter, but am having issue with the arc line. Is there a way to have the arc move with the swing in the door? If so, I can add that to the more refined door block. I have attached Drawing 2 (Door with just the rotate parameter) and Drawing3 (More refined door dynamic block without the swing option).
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I've done a reasonable amount of work with dynamic blocks. I have a block with a rotation action and grip to arbitrarily align it. However I realized when trying to combine it with an alignment grip (which actions on the basic or fundamental block rotation angle) that there didn't seem to be a way to some how link a dynamic block rotation action or one of the custom angle properties to a the fundamental block rotation angle. Thus there are two additive rotations at work; the dynamic block one with its grip and the fundamental rotation property.
This can cause some confusion when one person aligns with the grip and another via rotating the block's fundamental property and would also be problematic in the generalized sense if one was trying to select or programmatically read back the net angle alignment.
I have a dynamic block, that represents a stirrup.
I inserted in the block a Block Propreties Table, that have some preset dimensions for the stirrups. The grip of this table I decided to put in the top right corner.
The problem is that I can't make this grip moveable )
