AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Way To Override Connection Rules Of Pipes
Mar 22, 2012Is there a way to override the connection rules of pipes so they can connect to the flat side of an eccentric cone?

I'm using Sheet Set Manager in Autocad 2011. I'm using 'page setup override', and as plot area 'print extents'. So far, so good. Until someone forgets something outside the title block, and the extents feature is not good anymore (several people working in the same projects).
So, I decide to use as plot area 'Layout' instead, typing the X & Y to determine the area to be plotted.
Now, the setup "override" doesn't override. It’s using the drawing plot area from the drawing itself, which completely defeats the purpose. Am I missing something?
I created a pipe rule and applied it to my 6" HDPE pipe in my parts list. The rule is followed close but not exact. Here it is:
I created a "cover only" rule for my 6" HDPE pipe. I have the maximum and minimum cover set to 3.50'. I have it the same so it will draw my pipe 3.50' deep. I don't want it to vary. It for drawing in existing underground power so when we cut profiles and sections the existing power shows up. We want it to show up 3.50' deep. I created a label style for my pipe that tells me start cover and end cover of the pipe so I can see it right there on the screen. The numbers range from 3.50' deep to 4.70' deep.
Why does the pipe not get drawn in exactly 3.50' deep?
I'm trying to modified (override) the surface label components using vlisp, similar to using text override, I pick the label, and found the text component, but it's seem I found the default, they all changes, plus I didn't see the override text.
where the override text and/or indivisible label property are stored?
I'm creating a utility template. Earlier in the day, I'm able to assign pipe and structure rules to a network and create the network based on these rules. Within the past 30 minutes, however, it completely ignores the pipe and structure rules while creating the network.
I make sure there is a surface assigned to the network. I make sure the pipe rules are set correctly in the parts list. I'm using no null structures. NOTHING HAS CHANGED EXCEPT THE POSITION OF THE MINUTE AND HOUR HANDS ON THE CLOCK! It's like the Civil 3D went out to lunch and forgot to tell me that it's going to lunch.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing with polylines that are set to color 6 in model space and are also set to color bylayer.
When I go to my layout and click inside my viewport and pull up layer manager and change the viewport color for that layer to color 12, only parts of the polylines change to the color 12 while other parts remain color 6.
If while I'm in the viewport I change the model color as well to color 12, then all the polylines turn to color 12.This is a problem though, because in some layouts I what that layer to be color 6, and in others I want it to be color 12, or 4 or 5 or whatever.
I could not match this situation even if I wanted to where you draw a line, and half of it is one color while the other half is another color.why the viewport color overrides are behaving like this.
I was wondering if you can create rules for a pressure pipe network similar to the rules that you can create for a pipe network. I would like to create a cover and length rule for my system. So far I saw that you can set a cover before drawing out the pressure network but I do not know how to edit that after the pressure pipes are drawn in.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to model a gas network using the pipe tools (Civil 3D 2011). The problems I'm having:
1) The pipes are coming in at all depths (mostly too deep), rather than at the constant 3' cover I would like.
2) Pipes all have zero slope and "stairstep" at null structures, instead of sloping with the surface.
My pipe rule set is:
Cover only, min/max 3'
Match pipe-to-pipe, inv 0'
I tried adding a slope rule, it dropped pipes lower.
For structure rules, I have tried both 0' drop across structure, and no rules (hoping pipe match would take over). All are null structures.
I do have the surface referenced, and it is being recognized (structure rims insert at grade).
How I would replace the Elevation label on a point with Alphanumeric text on certain points in a point group (or if it can be done at all)
Some background info:
I work with site diagrams that have monitoring wells and each one has a groundwater elevation value that gets updated every year according to field data. Our current setup is that the monitor well name and elevation values are displayed using point labels and looks like:
x 12-1 (Monitoring well name)
788.432 (Groundwater elevation value)
However, sometimes the monitoring well is dry and we need to display 'DRY' instead of a numeric elevation value. Autocad won't let me put 'DRY' as an elevation because it's not a number. Is there a way to override this, or somehow make the label display 'DRY' if elevation of 0 is entered?
Another use to overriding point label elevation is that sometimes the groundwater elevation that we get from the monitoring well is so far off from the general contour pattern that we will put the elevation value of that well in brackets such as (788.432) and indicate that this means the elevation was not included in the groundwater contour flow map.
Is there a way to do this override, or is there another method I should be using to label my monitoring well elevations? I know I could just MTEXT everything, but that's double the time to update the point elevations for the contours and then updating the mtext to display the numerical elevation values.
I've been able to publish and then import valves, flange adaptors etc. with no problem, but if I create a flanged (metric) pipe using the Content Catalog Editor and then draw the pipe in C3D it shows blank ends, no flanges. I've split the pipe in the drawing to see if that forces flanges to appear, but nothing.
Do I need to create the flanges seperately and then add them to the end of pipes?

I am modelling a sewer pipe network in SSA. At some stages we use varies pipe materials with different wall thicknesses. So I want to know how can I assign inner diameter of pipes in SSA so I just deduct wall thickness from pipe diameter and then assign it to the pipe. Or is there any possibility to make a pipe list with specific properties like part builder in civil3d?

What the best way to draw multiple parallel pipes that cross a corridor. In my example I have a track with 4 pipes crossing the track corridor on slightly different alignments (from perpendicular to skewed). I have drawn the pipes on as individual pipes under the same network.
However I cannot get them all to display on the profile. I have tried "Draw Parts in Profile" but it seems to bring up only 1 pipe. managing multiple pipes.
I have two pipe networks and two profile views, one for storm and another for sanitary. I would like to show the crossing pipes on each of the profile views. When I select the profile view, add a pipe and change the style to crossing the style is change to crossing on the other profile view (ex. on sanitary profile view I set storm pipe 3 to crossing style, on the storm profile pipe 3 changes to crossing style and does not display). Isn't there a way to display the styles for pipes different in each profile view?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to do profiles in Civil3D and I have created a profile from the surface utilizing a miscellaneous alignment. I have also taken one 12"RCP and made it part of a network along with the catch basin and manhole at its start and end. When I click "draw parts in profile" it places both structures and the pipe, but in reality only a portion of the pipe crosses the alignment. I'd like to only display portions of pipes that cross the alignment at a fixed width form that alignment, say 2' to each side of it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm a bit of a Civil 3D newbie. I've got a project that involves addition of storm drain to existing storm pipes. I'd like to be able to use Civil 3D to include existing and proposed pipes in the networks, but be able to show existing pipes differently than proposed pipes on plans and profiles, i.e. screened. I can't seem to figure out a way to do this--I can effect changes to all networks, but not invididual pipes.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI received some dwg files to show existing utilities from a local municipality. I thought the files would come as shp files, but they are dwg files. The drawings/dwg files show the layout of pipes, but the pipes are polylines. The polylines have data attached to them. The properties show material, size, length, slope, etc. I am trying to label the pipes/polylines and I can't figure out how to get the information from the polylines.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBack in 2010, I created several optional properties in pipes for labeling purposes.
The file I modified is: AeccPartParamCfg.xml
I have migrated this file to 2011, 2012, 2013 without any issue. In 2014, I am getting a run time error for one of the optional properties and therefore that option is no longer working.
Created optional properties and run into problems in 2014? Works fine in all my previous releases of Civil 3D using the same parameter file.
Attached is the Parameter file and error at start up.
In order to have a data band at the bottom of my profile label the station and invert of my sewer pipe I just created a profile along the pipe and then have a data band in my profile that labels that profile. I have that profile style set to not plot so this way I can leave it on all the time. This is all fine and well. I have labels every 100' that label the station and invert elevation but at times I want to label miscellaneous locations along my pipe such as a bend or something. How do I add an addition data band label to achieve this? Everything I have found only lets me have these labels at a specified increment set in the band style.
