Jan 10, 2014I am building a surface and started looking at the triangles and found that some are going to non-existant points. I have unfrozen, checked, etc. all of my points to make sure they are not in the drawing.

Oct 2, 2012I am issues with DEM files that I am downloading from the USGS website.I download 24k, elevation for the area I need. I then choose staged 1 second, add a surface to a blank drawing, then upload the DEM files to the surface.
The surface imports correcty, but when I try to import points taken by a surveyor on the same drawing, they plot incorrectly.The DEM surface and the points from the surveyor do not correspond. Also, the DEM surface is in meters, not feet. I have tried changing drawing settings, datum types, coordinate types, etc.
AutoCad :: Adding Client Logos To Drawing Title Block?
Apr 20, 2012I am about to recieve an order to provide drawings to a new client who has requested me to author an new blank drawing title block for the required drawings. The company does however have a Logo and other necessary details.
My question is: What format should the logo be in and how do I transfer this into the drawing title block, bearing in mind that I will most likely have to change the size to suite the various size drawings sheets, namely A0, A1, A2 etc?
I have attempted to search for this information on CT and having found the topic been denied request to open whatever. This is a copy of the notification receive when attempting to open a topic:

Feb 10, 2012I customized a surface style to show relative elevations, with lighter tones representing higher elevations, and darker tones representing lower elevations. With a single glance, I know the high and low spots in my project area.
C3d provides several default surface elevation styles. None of them comes close to providing the instant, data-at-a-glance information that my customized style does, which I use to design stormwater systems. Again, it's really useful to see, with one look, where the high and low spots are in my project area.
I can't figure out how to export, transfer, copy, whatever, my customized style from one drawing to a new drawing. If I want to see my customized style, I have to recreate it from scratch in each and every drawing where I want to use it.
How to transfer a surface style from one drawing to another? By the way, I tried opening up both drawings, with both toolspace/settings windows open. Tried dragging and dropping the customized style to the new drawing. Didn't work.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Surface Drawing Triangles Across Breakline
Jan 6, 2014i am trying to add as a breakline. i have not been able to get this particular line to work as a breakline and the surface keeps drawing triangles through the line like its not even there. The figure properties show that it is a breakline. The figure prefix database brings the line style in as a breakline from the start.

Aug 28, 2013I am working on roadway project where I am using Pipe Networks to layout the drainage infrastructure. I have set my working dwg up so that I am data referencing the existing surface and proposed alignment. I have set my pipe network up so that it is also referencing this surface and alignment. Everything was working fine. Labels were pulling the correct information from my surface elevations, and stations were being referenced as well, until I got a message that recommended that I recover my drawing.
I ran recover and my surface and alignment data shortcut disappeared. My pipe network now shows questions marks where there were once stationing and it appears that the surface and alignment have completely disassociated themselves from my drawing, however they appear in the prospector, but cannot be refreshed. Again the data shortcut symbol is no longer next to my surface and alignment, but there is a symbol telling me that those objects are being referenced by another object in my drawing (my pipe network). I have tried refreshing, resetting the working folder, all to no avail.

Dec 19, 2013How can I make sure the annotated surface labels spot elevations from my 3d design drawing which is being xrefed into a new Precise Grading Breakout Sheet plots screened?
The Label Style which I created for the annotated surface label spot elevations has all its properties set to be ByLayer for example its color and lineweight. The Layer I assigned the Label Style was assigned to a layer with a color and plot style that should plot any object screened. Color 8 and Plot Style Screened.
What other steps am I missing to assure myself that this Label Style will plot screened in my new Precise Grading Breakout Sheet?
I also made sure that the xref drawing in which this Surface spot elevation has the correct colors and lineweights and Plot Styles in my new Precise Grading Breakout Sheet.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Novel Client Thrashed Text Display
May 17, 2012Installed the latest Novel Client 2 SP2 for Windows (IR2a). On the first restart C3D froze. I rebooted again and I got Civil 3D going. It looked a little different and I had to import a backup profile. The biggest thing that didn't fix is the display. Our standard font is Tahoma, a TTF that appears filled. It now looks like this:
This affects both MText and text in Styles. So far I'm only having this show up in the drawing I had open just before the install and opened immediately after. I've run Audit and Recover, repaired Civil 3D, checked that the standard text style was still set to Tahoma, added the windows Font folder to the path, verified that FillMode is on. I've tried opening the drawing in a stock profile with the same results.
I reinstalled the video driver, downloaded and installed the latest from the Nvidia site and downloaded and installed the latest from the Autodesk hardware site. That's what's installed now. I've turned hardware acceleration off and back on. I've gone through each tab in Options looking for anything not set right. I've turned Windows Clear Type Text on and off.
The text also flashed in and out of visibility as I zoom in and out. So not all of the text may be shown at any one time. I'm also getting a lot of Fatal Errors. I found out that if I remove the Background Masks the text shows as filled, but it's still terribly jagged.

Apr 19, 2013My Civil 3D 2013 client application (COM C++) suddenly will not build:
error C4772: #import referenced a type from a missing type library; '__missing_type__' used as a placeholder..fatal error C1084: Cannot read type library file: 'C:/Program Files/Common Files/Autodesk Shared/AecXBase70.tlb': Error loading type library/DLL.
The type library is imported in the following way in StdAfx.h (as I have done for several years now, though with different version (60, 65, 67 etc.) each year):

I have tried to reinstall Civil 3D 2013 but that did not work. I probably also should mention that I have installed Civil 3D 2014, but that was over a week ago and I have been able to build since then.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: No Exist In Profile Using Publish
Sep 5, 2012I have profile sheets I set up using our template. If I plot the layouts one at a time. I can see the existing grade line in the plot. If I publish all of the layouts at once. The existing profile doesn't plot.
I've checked the layer freeze setting and made sure there is a defined page setup to use in Publish. It's the same setup they plot individually with. I get the same result if I plot directly to our Toshiba printer or to PDF using the CutePDF driver.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: ETransmit / Export Drawings To Send To A Client
Jul 23, 2013I am currently trying to etransmit or export one of our C3D drawings to CAD 2007 to send to a client. Every time I estransmit or export a lot of boxes appear on the exported file. Does anything know what they are or how to get rid of them? it won't let me freeze them, they all seem to be one block together.

May 13, 2013If I have calculated the superelevations and then edit the alignment (for example,I modify the length of spiral), the superelevations doesn´t recalculate. Why?
The guitar (superelevations) in profile view is old. If I load again the style profile view, the data are the same about superelevations.

Jun 1, 2012I have created existing and proposed surfaces in Civil 3D 2008 and I'm trying to create a volume surface to produce a cut & fill map. The problem I'm running into is everything I try to follow mentions choosing Elevation Banding (2D) as the style. The only style I have to choose from is Standard. Does the Elevation Banding (2D) style normally come with the program? Or is this something you have to create?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Running Parcel Area Report Generator - Execute File Not Exist
Jun 13, 2012I am trying to run a parcel area report generator, and I get the above error message, along with the path xslParcel_Area.xsl and an advisory to reinstall the program.
I think it is pointing to the full path location of C:ProgramDataAutodeskC3D 2012enuDataReportsxsl.
The file (Parcel_Areas.xsl) exists in this location.
NONE of the parcel reports that I tried to execute work - they all return the same grammtically painful error message.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Reference Surface (x) Not Found In Reference Drawing
Jul 28, 2011I am getting this error in my production drawings.
My setup is as follows:
- EG.dwg has my existing surface in it. I create a data reference to use it in other drawings.
- Level One.dwg has the EG surface data referenced in, and I use this to create alignments, profiles, and finish surface. All of these are turned in to data references.
- Storm Sanitary.dwg has my pipe designs. I data reference in the two surfaces, profiles, and alignments, and create pipe networks. I create references for these networks.
- Plan Profile.dwg is the production sheet I'm getting this error from. Every one of my civil objects is data referenced in to this drawing. Everything is inserted correctly, the pipes show correct FG surface elevations for their rims, etc.
BUT when I open this drawing, I get this error. I assume it's because my FG surface is not directly in the storm sanitary.dwg.
How do I get rid of this error, without combining drawings, or promoting the surface to one or more drawings? Isn't this exactly what data references is made for?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: How To Correct / Manipulate Surface To Show Proper Flat Surface
Dec 2, 2011I often have to do storm pond surfaces that (for the purposes of planning) are flat on the bottom. These surfaces are created from a combination of survey data and grading groups and the tin of these surfaces is perfectably acceptable. However, when contours are shown, the flat bottom is shown with contours jig-jagging all over the place.
The attached image shows a comparison of the same pond. The top was created with survey data and grading groups; the bottom was created using contour data only. The generated surface on the top shows the bottom contour going in different directions and has parts where the an expected contour is missing.
How to correct/manipulate the surface to show a proper flat surface?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Reduced Maximum Length For Surface Triangles Causes Surface Holes
Oct 22, 2012Has instances where you set your tolerance for the maximum triangle lenth to say 50m to reduce the amount of triangles along the edge that run at long distances. When I do this I end up with multiple surface holes and I'm not sure why as there are points in the area.
I thought well maybe it's because i should've reduced my max triangles first then added breaklines. Would this matter? I also thought I could add a line to the surface to fix the holes vs. deleting surface lines along the entire edge of a surface for many many miles.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Editing Existing Surface Using Edit Surface Command
Nov 14, 2012I am trying to add points into a surface. I have done this before without any problems, but now I am having issues.
When I ID points which makes up the surface it gives me the correct Z level e.g. 24.5m, however when I hover over the surface it shows me the surface name and a different z level e.g. 0.65m. What is the reason for this difference in z levels? I think this may be causing the issue I am having when I add new points.
I select the surface and use the 'edit surface command' in the ribbon, choosing add point.
When I add a point at the level I require(23.89m), it puts it in a lot higher than the surrounding area, so I tried to put the point in to the lower z levels (0.4m) it puts it in a lot lower!

Do i need to create alignment offsets?. Alignment 1 profile view is also attached. Then Alignment2.
What about starting with alignment1 profile view? Since I have created a polyline as the design profile ?
how do I shrink labels? Where is it in the settings ; the Align folder had been check.
