View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have multiple clients and each client has multiple projects. Each project gets its own master assembly that contains multiple equipment layouts. This allows us to show everything together. In each master assembly, we create LODs to display equipment layouts side by side for connecting things one to another and to avoid collisions.
Example: The master assembly may contain 8 equipment layouts. Each layout is for a sub-process within the whole process. We create LODs for different groupings of layouts so that we can zero in on anything in particular that we wish to focus on. By choosing an LOD in the open dialogue box prior to opening the master assembly, performance is improved because we're only opening what we need instead of everything.
Within an equipment layout are any number of assemblies. We can create LODs to show the layout without conveyors or to show different options we've developed to present as concepts for approval prior to detailed design. Sometimes we are adding assemblies to an existing layout so we'll create an LOD for existing, one for as built, one for purposed.
how to create or modify LODs. Therefore, we are getting LODs with users' initials or a date or "doohickey". We've got to come up with something that makes sense now and will make sense later.
Any guideline for managing LODs in a multi-user environment?
For some reason, the tool palette I usually use is not accessible. I opened a drawing that a co-worker was using and my tool palette now looks like an old version - it doesn't have any of my custom tools in it. How do I get back my tool palette??

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am building sub-assemblies using Sub-assembly composer. The out I get is PKT files. I generally import them and place them in tool palette.
1. Now how to do create deployment package like a setup file where the user can install and restart to find working toolpallete.
2. Also how do I create road cross sections using Sub-assemblies and them as an entry in tool palette. when the user click and create c/s.
I work for the IT department of a company who uses Civ3d 2011.
We've a problem that when the software is deployed to machines it doesn't display the tool palettes. After some investigation and following steps on this website I've identified that the issue is the tool palettes are installed inn to the profile of whoevers account installs the software. if its deplyoed this will be the Sys Admin account and not the profile of the relevant user account.
What is the location of the tool palette settings within the registry or the relevant configuration files in the profile so that I can either script or embed it in to the package?
I've got a tool palette that I use which has about 5 or so tabs with about 10 to 50 standard blocks, tables, etc in each tab that is organized by text headers and dividers. It's such a productivity booster I exported the palette to a place on our server that everyone can import them from. My problem is that when they import the tool palettes, the icon images dont come in. We're left with manually updating all the images which is a problem when certain people "don't like change" and don't want to take the time to deal with the technical problems. Maybe I'm missing something, but shouldnt the images come in when you import the palettes?

Is it possible to create a tool pallete with label styles, like station & offset label styles? I have a million of them - alignment, profile, surface, etc., labels.
I know you can put them in a template. I searched the group but did not see anything.

I am working with a client who has a standard tool pallete with blocks. I already have imported/customized the tool palletes as per their manual. The blocks show up in the tool paleltte, but when i drag to insert them. It can't locate the symbols file and gives me this error : Source drawing "H:MASTER-SYMBOLS.dwg for block "X" not found.
I have the master symbols drawing as indicated and pathed the location through optionsfiles tool palletes file locations.
I've begun to create tool palettes to organize my blocks and often-used items. I have no trouble creating the tool palette, inserting regular blocks, export/import of the tool palette and groups, however my problem involves Dynamic Blocks and the fact that I keep each seperate dynamic block in a different file. I do this so that I can easily insert the block into a new drawing.
I'm able to drag the dwg file onto the palette (from explorer to autocad) just fine, that way the block's reference in the palette is the original file. Although when I take this method, I don't gain the lighting bolt to signify a dynamic block.
To get the lighting bolt I insert the block into an empty drawing, save it, then drag the block over to the palette. The problem with this is that the tool palette references the saved blank drawing, not the original block's file.
My endgame is to have a tool palette that contains my dynamic blocks and that will be eventually exported/imported to other computers everytime there is a major change. I also want to be able to change the original block's file and have that change be reflected in the tool palette.
Noticed that the Dynamic Blocks in the Annotation Tool Palette are missing? Let me rephrase that, in the Tool palette they show up, but the dwg's that they reference are missing. I have 4 users that are currently testing Civil 3D 2013 and all of them are missing the files.
I'm sure I could copy them from 2012, but still.
How do I specify the code set to be used on subassemblies when creating an intersection? I want to specify this in a command setting so that the intersection is built correctly without me having to edit feature lines in the corridor properties for th intersection.
View 9 Replies View Relatedhow subassemblies work, vis a vis pkt files & all the files created in the ProgramData folder (.atc, .cfg, .dll, .emd, .pvd, .xaml, pdb)? Here's our situation:
A user will make a subassembly, save it locally. The subassembly is used in a corridor. A different user tries to access this file: the subassembly is there (shows in plan), but the parameters are empty and that part of the assembly doesn't run. The subassembly doesn't appear in the Tool Pallet. You do get a .NET error when trying to look at the subassembly.
How we fix this is to open up the C:ProgramDataAutodeskC3D 2013enuImported Tools folder on the computer which made the subassembly, copy everything, and paste it into the other computer's C:ProgramDataAutodeskC3D 2013enuImported Tools folder. How/why doesn't the drawing which has the subassembly in it just work?? And moving forward, how can we share drawings with custom subassemblies? Remap everyone's .net search path to a network drive?
I wan´t to delete a palette from Autocad Tool Palette. How can I do?

Is there any way to have or to create a "mega-subassemblies-ribbon" ?
issue with my Corridor. It involves the intersection of a main road alignment and a secondary road. Thing is my main road has a 6' shoulder whereas my secondary road doesn't have a shoulder at all. I used the Intersection Wizard to create the Intersection, but the two templates don't align. Without the shoulder the ditches don't line up. I tried drawing a polyline between the two ditches and targeting it and that worked, but then realized that going from 6' shoulder to no shoulder wasn't working either so when I tried to target a polyline from the 6' shoulder to the edge of pavement all kind of stuff happened that didn't make sense to me.

I have a ditch and a road that need to follow separate profiles but be integrated with each other as a single corridor and the ditch's 3:1 slope needs to meet up with the road's 2% slope. Is it possible to have the two subassemblies target each other without having to create a dummy surface or a feature line for targeting to?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there is a way to add labels to assemblies/subassemblies. When I use generic subassemblies or subassemblies I have created in SAC there aren't labels such as slope or offset/elevation. At this point I am stuck creating labels in each of my section views and this can become very tedious.
I am using C3D 2011
When I attempt to import a PKT file from SAC, C3D crashes. This includes custom ones that I created as well as samples from the ADESK site.

Of course I can recreate them -- but I'd rather not start from scratch (ESPECIALLY where it comes to the codes).

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe are just starting with Civil 3D 2012. We are doing a pilot project, and the engineer wanted to make a custom curb subassembly matching the exact dimensions (angle from bottom of curb to top of curb) as the county detail. I didn't think that was necessary and thought we could use one of the generic subassemblies. usually use the basic or generic subassemblies or do you create your own to match specific municipalities' details exactly?
Do you find that the parts that come with Civil 3D are usually sufficient for design or do you make a lot of custom parts?
I need to create a corridor that has this section. So I'm using this assembly:
on which I put 3 conditional fill subassemblies on point A, one for fill conditions of more than 2 m that would daylight at 2:1 until it reaches 2 m down and then daylights at 1:3 until it reaches the EG. Then I have another for fill conditions of less than 2 m that only daylights at 2:1 to the EG, and the last one is for all cut conditions.
As expected I have the following problem in some stations that have fill conditions on A of less than 2 m but more than 2 m on B:
Is there any way I can make B the comparison point without having the following problem on cut conditions?
Or that I could create an assembly with the condition that when I have a fill of more than 2 m on point B it daylights, from point B, at 1:3; but when B would be on cut conditions it daylights from A?
The help file for user-supllied text added to dimensions says, "To add user text above and below the dimension line, use the separator symbol X. Text that precedes this symbol is aligned with and above the dimension line. Text that follows the X symbol is aligned with and below the dimension line."
How do I get the same effect from the dimension Properties Palette later? Would I have to re-create a dimension to do this in another session? I need text below the dimension on a new line, and have not been able to do it using the Suffix field in the Properties. Adding text there only appends it on the same line. (Or, am I missing a trick here?).
I am trying to set up a corridor with multiple materials with multiple pavement sections. For example, I have concrete and asphalt surface pavement, about 4 different kinds of base material and 2 different sub base materials to use. It doesn't seem like you can get quantities divided up like that. It seems like you can only get the 'base' material counted up with the quantities and you can only assign one material to it. Is the answer to create multiple corridors for each pavement type that has their own Code Set to assign to each corridor?
View 9 Replies View RelatedHave a question regarding multiple daylight subassemblies, don't know if it is possible. So I have an assembly with a trench SA in cut condition and a project to surface in fill condition, I built the corridor with this assembly and most of things look fine. However, there is a short stretch (in cut condition) of the corridor that I would like to modify such that a trench is not provided. I know I can create a new assembly with my desire condition, then create a new region and drop that assembly there, but I am wondering if there any other way to achieve my goal without another assembly.

Along my corridor I have different assemblies I used. My sidewalk is curb side in some locations and in different locations there is a boulevard between the curb and sidewalk. I want to transition between these different assemblies and I want that transition to show up in the cross sections I cut. Isn't there a way to tell Civil 3D to transition from one assembly to the next one as you could in Eagle Point?

Is it possible to edit a sub-assembly in the Corridor Modeling Catalog (Imperial.NET) see attached image.
The company I work for has several users working off one network server. I would like to make a revision to one of the dimensions in the sub-assembly "UrbanCurbGutterGeneral" (the default gutter width is 16" I would like to make the default 18"). I'm assuming I need to change this in the Catalog so every users tool palette will be updated also.
