AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Library For Pipe Network Parts For Items Such As Standard Type
Jan 22, 2013I was wondering if there exists a library for pipe network parts for items such as a standard type 1 catch basin that I can add to the existing autocad pipe network parts library. Basically I'm trying to find a shortcut so that I don't have to build all of the catch basins that I need.

Jul 10, 2012Is it better to implement the title block of an electrical drawing in the model space or paper space? I have a co worker who implements it in the model space as shown below. On the other hand, I was taught to implement it in the paper space and then bring in the drawing via viewport.

Jul 15, 2013Little disconcerted by the new setup of 'Image/size' menu? Its lost one whole parameter that used to be there by default... Now you have to go find it by click on the drop down and selecting inches.... If I recall it used to show:
height Pixels
width pixels
Height inches
width inches
Overall there appears to be MORE information available and more functions one can exercise than the old format. I guess I'll grow to like it better than the old layout.... but first time out... I missed the old setup.
Photoshop :: Displace Filter Alternative Implementation?
Oct 4, 2012In my work I am using Displace (Filter>distort>displace) filter to create fake parallax shift, to create stereograms. I make two copies of image- one using positive-value horizontal displace filter, the other negative. When viewing those images as stereoscopy pair, you perceive them as projected on 3D surface defined by grayscale displacement map (a.k.a. depth-map).
My problem is highly specific: I need to be able to precisely control which pixels are displaced and by what ammount (ammount defined by greyscale value of map pixels). Current implementation of displace filter makes if very difficult.
My goal is this: every pixel of image will be shifted left or right by distance defined by greyscale value of directly underlying depth-map pixel.
The way actual displacement filter works can be described as such: If depth-map pixel is <50%grey, it 'fetches' and becomes bitmap pixel from left. If depth-map pixel is >50%grey, it 'fetches' and becomes bitmap pixel from right.As a result-I cannot, by comparing image pixels with underlying depth-map pixels predict what distance will given image pixel travel. Shift distance is not defined by directly underlying dept-map pixel. Instead, image pixel is 'fetched' by undefined depth-map pixel.
I realise it is highly specific requirement without an easy answer. I am willing to spend long time working on software side if need be and learn in process. I am becoming quite proficient in scripting (JavaScript). I need to know where to start and if there is a solution simpler than coding new filter from scratch.I am using Photoshop CS6 and work cross-platform (primarily windows).
Illustrator :: CS6 Not Opening EPS File / Implementation Limit
Aug 3, 2012I'm having a bit of problem with my CS6 Illustrator and it started in illustrator CS5, I can create an eps file within Illustrator save it as CS6, but when i go to open it again i get an error " Can't open the illustration. The illustration exceeds an implementation limit. I get an option to click ok and when i do i get a blank artboard with nothing on it.
I can see the artwork preview in the finder window when i select the eps file, I can open it in photoshop, convert it in preivew and if i place the file back into illustrator i can see the artwork and click embed to edit it.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Building Standard Tool Palette
Apr 26, 2013I've got a tool palette that I use which has about 5 or so tabs with about 10 to 50 standard blocks, tables, etc in each tab that is organized by text headers and dividers. It's such a productivity booster I exported the palette to a place on our server that everyone can import them from. My problem is that when they import the tool palettes, the icon images dont come in. We're left with manually updating all the images which is a problem when certain people "don't like change" and don't want to take the time to deal with the technical problems. Maybe I'm missing something, but shouldnt the images come in when you import the palettes?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Annotation And Standard Scale Of Viewport
Jan 22, 2013The properties palatte has both these scales listed. In theory, they can be different.I would love to be able to plot my drawing at 1:1000 with the civil objects & labels scaled to 1:500 so they don't overwhelm the plan. It would seem I should be able to simply set the viewport to have a standard scale of 1:1000 and annotation scale 1:500 and be done. But it doesn't work. It will always scale the annotative objects to the standard scale.
My workaround is to scale my sheet double size and plot it half size, to trick the Civil objects & labels.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 3D Faces In Standard Export Option
Nov 25, 2013Just downloaded and installed this pack as was keen to see the Export Civil 3D drawing functionality but can't see any great advantages over the standard Export to AutoCAD option.
In fact in the drawing I tried all the surfaces were ignored whereas they were exploded to 3D faces in the standard Export optionAre there, in fact, any advantages to using the Productivity pack version of the Export to Autocad routine?
AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Link Text Items Between Pages And Items In Drawing?
Apr 17, 2013I am hoping to link text items between pages and items in the drawing such as elevations?
So, ideally, I would have a front page to my drawing set, and this would have a 'Contents' type table on it, with the title name of each drawing in one column, then the drawing number in the next column. This is the tricky bit, someone must know: If i was to change the name / number of any item in this table, could it change also (linked to) the following items:
Drawing title (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Drawing number (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Elevation call-out (on the plan view)
And possibly:
Excel reference cell
Drawing layout tab title (this might be pushing it!!)
Perhaps this could be done by linking to an external Excel spreadsheet with these titles modified in there? I'm not sure. This would be ideal as typing into excel is a lot easier than the triple click text modify method required currently.
I waste a lot of time renaming and updating sheet names / titles / numbers. Are there standard templates for drawing sets that may have this built in available anywhere that I could try?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Hydraflow Import Changes All Parts To Standard Style?
Jun 19, 2013one would think that you could just export the .stm file into hydraflow, make some changes, and import, and all would be fine. when i export, all of the structures in hydraflow come up as drop curb. how can they come in as what they actually are.. aka, when the part i use is a 2x4 box, it should come into hydraflow as a "grate inlet", or a st-mh will come in as a "manhole".
and then likewise, when the changes are made, and its brought back into autocad, they all come in as a "standard" style. except the outfalls, which show as a "standard" style, but come in with a different block, and get a whole new label (outfal - x)

I can't find a pay item that fits for the fittings.
Are fittings normally included in the LF of pipe or are they assigned their own pay item?

Jun 12, 2008The structures I created in my part list aren't available when using the Network Layout Tool. I can select the custom pipes i created, however the structures aren't available in the Structure List pulldown. They show when editing the part list, but not on the layout toolbar.

Mar 1, 2012We have a template that opens with extra Prospector items. For example, we have point groups Design Points, Design Points.1, Design Points.2, etc etc. See attached image. We have gone into the template and deleted all of the duplicate items.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Profile Entities Vista Items Shaded (unable To Edit)?
Mar 19, 2013Civil 3D 2013, trying to edit a FG profile through the Profile Entities vista and Profile Layout Parameters dialog box. All entities in the vista are shaded (locked) and will not allow me to edit. Is there something that I am missing here? I should be able to edit the PVIs (or entities) correct? I couldn't find anything in documentation as to why these are shaded and not allowing me to edit them.

Dec 20, 2012I was wondering if after drawing an alignment, creating a profile, and profile view, is there a way I can mark items along the alignment so they could show up in the profile view. I am laying out a pipeline and want to have the profile display a marker for items such as tees, elbows, reducers and other items. The marker I would like to use will be something like the vertical style grade break markers.
Also on a side note, as each of these items will have a different name, is there a way that I can add these markers and then have each one with a unique name?

Dec 24, 2013I'm having some problems with drawing paths in Illustrator. Everytime I draw a new path, this new path shows up in the standard settings. The 'brush defenition' turns back to 'basic' and the 'variable width profile' back to 'uniform'. It would save me a lot of time if I could change those standard settings into what I prefer.

AutoCad :: Standard Text Is Always Too Bold?
Dec 21, 2011the text always appears bold both on screen and printed in my student work. My tutor has now commented as it detracts from the thickness of picture lines. So i need to figure out how to change this. I have never selected bold.
In the 2D diagram I am working on at the moment i am using single line text, dimension text and text within a table key on the side. It is all the same in terms of boldness. I have seen other students work with less bold text and i need mine to be like this.
I have selcted standard style, size 6.000 and it is not annotative. Is text affected by lineweight or layers?
AutoCad :: Restore Standard Menu Bar
Jan 17, 2014I'm in AutoCAD Architecture 2010. I've lost all menubars and need to reload. I was perfectly happy with the 2010 ribbon. When I search other forums it seems the answers are all geared toward restoring the older format of menubars because people are unhappy with the 2010 ribbon. That does not apply to me. I just want to restore the default 2010 ribbon menu bar.
I've tried the "Menu bar" command and have not found the original 2010 default menu bar. Maybe it's there and I'm not figuring it out. Steer me to a path to reset and re-establish the default 2010 setup?
I prefer to not have to uninstall and re-install the program to get back to the default settings if I don't have to.
AutoCad 2D :: Creating Non Standard Linetypes
Jul 28, 2013I am trying to create graphical linetypes. But after many hours of Google & YouTube I have found out that AutoCAD LT can not produce these. Even the add on software that is available is only for full AutoCAD and not LT.
where I could buy/download such line types, I would be grateful, or if you know how I could create them in LT.
I will attach an image of the type of thing I'm looking for. Various "Block" types & sizes making up the line. The colors I can change "I assume?"
