View 3 RepliesIs there an easy way to rotate my drawing 90 degrees clockwise in model space, but leave it in it's orginal view in paper space. The reason is for drawing elevations - north, south, east, west from construction lines pulled from a plan. I've tried using UCS and was able to rotate, but it won't let me copy objects after doing
View 7 Replies View Relatedhow can i rotate a drawing view in model space and paper space? UCS -> new -> 3 point -> and saving the view works, but trying to figure out how to do this with paper space now. My purpose if for pulling construction lines from plans, for elevations. In the past I simply rotated the drawing, but if i had a layer turned off it would mess up their positioning.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically I've got a detail specific to my design, I've extruded all of the layers up to their desired levels etc, but now I want to be able to rotate it all so that instead of these layers being orientated vertically, they are orientated horizontally, if that makes sense. I understand that there is something involved with the UCS but I'm not sure how to get this to work. This may be an issue with my computer as I know my laptop graphics card is pretty rubbish and impacts a lot of 3d programs such as Rhino and SketchUp so this could be the issue here
View 2 Replies View RelatedACAD 2010 text doesn't view the same in MSpace and PSpace! Model space is the acad default text: txt Paper Space it appears as it should as Romans. The drawings print as txt and not as it should Romans! When I change the text in model space to Romans, save the drawing, enter PSpace and the return to MSpace, it seems to 'reset' back to text!
This is specific to my workstation BTW, when I open the dwg file on a colleagues PC it opens Romans in both Model and Paper space.
CAD-Newbie working in paper space zoomed in close. I want to return to page extents but am zoomed in so close I can't click outside paper space to move view control toolbar to model space. is there a simple key command to perform this function?

Are there any commands other than DVIEW that allow you to rotate your model space ONLY in the active viewport?
Can't figure out where to find the viewcube to rotate 2d model space in 2014 LT.
View 3 Replies View RelatedLet’s say you have a large building plan in model space but there is only one small area of the building that the view port is looking at. Is there a way that you can draw around that viewport and then take that into model space and paste it in the same place so now you have the same area located in both views?
At the moment I need to try and work out where the view is by drawing a rectangle around the correct area of the building and this is time consuming.
I could then trim/delete everything else outside that box.
CIvil 3D 2013 / My drawing opens in layout view and all model objects are appropriately coloured by layer. If I hit plot at this point, my colour dependent .ctb file works fine. However, once I swtich to model view, all my linework turns white and if I switch back to Layout view it remains white and plots each line with the weight assigned to the colour white.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a site survey that I am having rotation issues with.
In the model space the drawing is rotated so when I draw a vertical line it points up (which is what I am used to). However in the paper space, the drawing is automatically rotated so that north is now pointing up, and if I attempt to draw a normal vertical line as i did in the model space the line now points NE.
How can I rotate the view of the viewport in paper space so that my lines as vertical and horizontal. This would not be such an issue if it was just a plan, but I have drawn sections that just look ridiculous.
Some time ago, I used Adobe Reader (the basic one) to view and rotate a 3D model from Autocad. Yes, I know that I can export a Revit model into a DWFX and view it in Design Review, but that requires a ferr Design Review download. Some clients don't have administrator rights, are too lazy, don't have the computer savy to install, etc..., so a PDF 3D model would be nice.
---Is this possible with Revit?
---Is this possible with Autocad?
I have Adobe X Pro where I can enable this if Revit and CAD have the ability to print a 3D PDF.
I am a landscape architect trying to xref in civil backgrounds. I have noticed twice now from two different civil firms that some of the civil symbols (dynamic blocks) are having visibility issues in paper space. No the viewport layers are not turned off or frozen. No the views weren't placed using the sheet set manager. Yes the blocks are created on layer zero and yes the associated layer is not off or frozen. I don't believe these blocks are annotative blocks. They appear, as expected, perfectly clear in model space. I just toggel over to paper space and "poof" they've disappeared.

While in a view I make a "New Model Space View". After I tag this MSV it seems that being able to see the border of each MSV that is in my view dwg would be a useful thing. Is there anyway to turn this boundary on?
We have had a reoccuring problem in autocad architecture 2012 where model space views can no longer be dragged into a sheet. It just shows a circular cancel icon.
The sheets are set up fine and it may even have several MSVs already in place then out of no where the ability is lost. We have tried allt he usual fixes (checked the layers, restored the .bak file, tried on other computers, installed service packs) but it seems once the file is "poisoned" the only fix is to recreate the sheet and delete the old one. Not a terrible solution but it is not efficient.
We have a dozen computers all with acad architecture 2012 and it seems to happen on random computers and we can't pinpoint any specific differences between them.
We did not have this problem with Autocad architecture 2009.
It could be something with the project database.
When I go to model space I am unable to adjust the view scale. Although I can get to the prompt for a new scale value, the program will not accept my changes. Is this locked somehow?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with my template that I created from an old drawing: the quick view layout thumbnail still shows the old drawing in model space. View 4 Replies View RelatedFirst off, here is what i want to do:
- in model space
- 3 model space view ports (ai_tiledvp 3 "_V")
- different layer state visible in each view port OR different saved view visible in each view port.
I cannot for the life of me figure it out. At the moment, every time i change the layer state (or saved view) in one view port, it changes in all 3 view ports so that they all show the exact same thing.
How do i rotate objects, plans...etc on model space in a view port.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe're testing some new machines running Windows 7 64-bit with both AutoCAD Architecture 2011 and 2012 64-bit installed.
When dragging and dropping a model space view onto a sheet, instead of the folder with paperclip symbol, we're getting a circle with a line through it prohibited symbol. This only occurs when our project files are on our network. When we use them on a local machine this does not occur.
We cannot drag and drop onto new sheets either.

We are running on a Novell Linux Open Enterprise Server network. We previously had a problem with not being able to open any sheets if another drawing was open, which we resolved by disabling Novell File Caching. We are also now experiencing unhandled e06d7363h exception errors with any type of file access in the Project Navigator. This crashing also does not occur when the files are on the local machine.

I am trying to work on a previous file in my office, and when it opens on mycomputer, it does not display as it should.
In general, the purpose of the project is to reinstate the side slopes of a road abutting a river. Cut & fill sections have been generated on 20m station increments along the road corridor/surfaces in order to calulate cut and fill as well as to reference the design to flood levels.
When I open the file, all of these sections (and there are alot) have relocated themselves to various locations in model space, none of which are aligned with the viewports that are being used for printing.
Could it be software and/or hardware incompatibility with the computer they were originally created on? (I believe it was created with C3D 2010, or C3D 2011 - I am currently running 2012)

AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 SP4
Windows 7 (64)
I am having some troubles with Civil 3d. I went from a 32-bit windows XP machine with 4 gigs of ram and a dual core 2.8 GHz processor with an older radeon graphics card to a 64-bit windows 7 machine with 16 gigs of ram, core i7-2600 (3.4 GHz) quad core processor, and an nvidia quadro 4000 2GB graphics card and I thought my life would be easy. But apparently great hardware will not solve all of my software issues.
When I try to switch to model space from paper space in C3D 2012 (sp1) it hangs for maybe 5 minutes before finally switching over. I have only worked on two drawings with the new machine, but it does it on both. And not every time, just half the time in one drawing and most of the time in the other.
When I drop a profile into model space, what happens when I move it? Like if I have ten different profiles, I'd like to square them all up and organize them to fit neatly into my plan views. I just scale my border drawing and drop one of those into model space, then fill it up with profiles until it's full.
I know that I should be working in layout/paper space for this kind of stuff, but this seems easy enough.
