AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Draw Polyline From Point To Point Using Imported Points?
Aug 16, 2013Im still new to Civil 3D and i would like to know how to connect inported points using 3D polylines. I imported my points from Excel in a PNEZD format. How do i get the 3d poly line to snap to my points so I can Connect them? someone mentioned using a feature line to connect the points but im not sure how or what that would do.

One thing that I can't seem to find information on though, is how to use the default AutoCAD command line options in my code. For instance, I would like to be able to prompt the user whether they would like to snap the polyline to an insertion point, everytime they create a new verticie.

Dec 19, 2013I am trying to get point 1234 to show a label that says Point #1234 and then in a grading plan have that same point show up as a spot elevation. I have tried making two point groups "Point #" and "Spot Grades" which include the same points in them with two different label styles for each group, however the point seems to only want to take one label style at a time.

May 3, 2011I want to create a 3d ployline from a 2d polyline with curves. When I use the convert 2d polyline to 3d polyline command it places a bunch of vertices along the curve so when I go to place elevations on the vertices it takes too long. I want to be able to give an elevation at the pc and pt and have it place elevations along the curve from this info like it does on the stright lines.

You said that there is no need to flatten, but each method I have tried does not produce a polyline with curves.
I tried:
survfig.BaseCurve
survfig.BaseCurve.GetProjectedCurve
survig.BaseCurve.GetOrthoprojectedCurve
If if manually flatten the figure using a dummy suface with the AeccFeatureElevsFromSurf command, the polyline derived from survfig.BaseCurve will then have actual arc segments.
Is there another method or a way to flatten the figure programatically first?

In this code line:
oFtrLn.InsertFeaturePoint(punt, AeccLandFeatureLinePointType.aeccLandFeatureLinePointPI);
always catches the same Exception "the value is not within the expected range" .I have translated it because I get "El valor no está dentro del intervalo esperado". Perhaps is this: " Value does not fall within the expected range.".
I have tried it with different point3d values but always catches Exception.
With pol3d I have similar problem.

In the past, I have used profile grade lines to do this - with a customized Marker Style for each alignment. On projects with 40+ alignments, this leads to a lot of blocks and marker styles to wade through. What I'd like to know - Is there a way to display a point name (read from a MarkedPoint) in section view using marker labels? Here's how I see it working (theoretically):
Define the following two point codes for use in my Code Set Styles: ALGN and ROW. Each would be assigned a Marker Label Style (let's call them A & R) in the Code Set. I'd like this label to display the point name in section view. For example, I'd like to insert a marked point on the centre line; Point Code = ALGN, Point Name = L100. However it doesn't seem that the Marker Label can read the "Point Name" field. Am I missing something really simple, or is this just not doable?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create Sheets Generates Duplicate Point Groups
Aug 7, 2012C3D2012. We have a master C3D template that includes a number of point filters (let say 20 of them) and a number of layouts (again, let say 20 of them) to accommodate our two sheet sizes.
Here is the issue that I am running into, when the Plan Production tools use a layout to create plan and profile sheets from the same master template that is used to initially create the file, the whole process will duplicate each point group 150 times for every group (see attached). So, what I ended up with is 20 point groups X 150. In my example, I ended up with 3000 duplicate point groups.
The end result is a file that is somewhat unusable do to the number of point groups. The other issue is now that all of these point groups are in the file you are unable to delete them all at once without "crashing" C3D. So you are left to deleting a handful at time. It is also best if you turn UNDO off while you do it.
I have been able to duplicate this in multiple files; however, from the same master template. As a test I did create separate templates (which are pretty bare bones) for the plan production and all works well. Therefore, there is either an issue with C3D and Plan Production and point groups or it is our template.
I would really like to nail down (as best I can) what is generating the 150 duplicates/ point group name to see if there is a way "around" this.
Currently, I am unable to share the template, but it shouldn't be too difficult to re-create. Take any template, add some point groups to, add a plan and profile sheet to one of the layouts, create a new file from this template, finally create plan and profile sheets from the layout in the very same template.

Feb 14, 2013Is there a way to create a block with attributtes that automatically complete x, y, z, lat, long for the insertion point of the block?
I am trying to complete text in paperspace that will automatically fill in the lat long of a point in model space without using a table. I have tried field insertion with reference to a cogo point, but it doesn't give options for position on a cogo point. If I pick a block with attributes, it will let me pick any attributes, and x,y position for the block.
Cogo points show all the information I need to propagate in the properties....but how do I get that to translate into the text using fields or some other method?
