AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Corridor Surface Not Using Correct Subassembly Point
Apr 29, 2013
I have created a new assembly that uses a HMA dike rather than your typical curb but my surface always begins at the top of the HMA pavement rather than the top of the curb subassembly. See Picture. Where's the setting to fix this (is it a daylight setting) or it is a bigger problem in that I didn't create the subassembly or assembly correct to begin with?

When I paste the proposed surface with the corriodor surface and I check the profile the proposed surface ties to the bottom of the kerb ignoring the footpath. Also in the same drawing file I can't seem to export it to ACAD.

I have created a surface from a corridor. I set the boundary of the surface to the daylight of the corridor. In some areas of the corridor the surface does not triangulate see attached.

We are trying to edit a small portion of an existing corridor by adding a generic daylighting subassembly. The add subassembly tool in the Corridor Section editor works, but we get an error because the new sub doesn't have a target surface specified. how to add a target for a sub that is added after the corridor was created?

My corridor surface is not matching my corridor top links. see attachments. this is affecting my volumes!
The section-plan(surface red).png is showing the section editor and the plan view. the red highlighted line in section is the corridor surface and as you can see in plan view the surface is incorrect and wiggly.
The pdf is all my sections with the red linework being the corridor surface.

I am working on implementing Chad Studer's techniques from his presentation at Autodesk University for corridors with conditional subassemblies at the driveways. Basically I created a corridor with two driveways for a test run. When I select the corridor and look at the object viewer, there are several lines going to who knows where at both driveways. But a look at the properties of the finished grade surface generated doesn't show anything out of the ordinary. I had the conditional subassembly look for a polyline on layer "driveway." It appears that there may be a gap in the corridor at each end of the pollyline. I've attached the drawing file.

Anyway, I'm trying to build a corridor that targets the existing surface with a linkslopetosurface sub. It works just like I want it to, but there are areas where I want to override the target and have it target an existing curb return alignment. Is there a better sub I should be using that will target one first and then a second if the first doesn't work right?
Also, with my corridor section editor, can I adjust the vertical scale to be exagerated? It's really tough to edit the 1:1 ver./hor. scale.

I'm using the Ditch subassembly in my corridor and am running into a problem when using realistic mode to view.
I've applied a render material to L3, L2 and L4 which is fine but when I assign a material to L1-L5 (i.e Top) it overdraws (or otherwise fails to display) the previously assigned materials for L2, L3 and L4.
If I set the Links L1-L5 (i.e. Top) to no display then L2, L3 and L4 display as expected but when IMX'd to Infraworks the existing terrain shows through at Links L1 and L5.
Is it possible to stop this from happening and have a seperate material for L1 and L5 whilst retaining L2,L3 & L5 materials?

I often have to do storm pond surfaces that (for the purposes of planning) are flat on the bottom. These surfaces are created from a combination of survey data and grading groups and the tin of these surfaces is perfectably acceptable. However, when contours are shown, the flat bottom is shown with contours jig-jagging all over the place.
The attached image shows a comparison of the same pond. The top was created with survey data and grading groups; the bottom was created using contour data only. The generated surface on the top shows the bottom contour going in different directions and has parts where the an expected contour is missing.
How to correct/manipulate the surface to show a proper flat surface?

I am trying to visualize a road project. The problems is, whenever the corridor surface goes below the EG surface (when the road is in cut) the EG surface is the only visible surface.
I sort of need to subtract the corridor surface from the EG surface, or merge the both surfaces into one.

I created one section with two assemblies. Main line assembly and offset (second line) assembly. Each assembly has its own alignment and profile. In strait its all ok, but in curve I get strange situation, that I try to solve. (look to the picture)
I add Mark points on Point 1 and 3. Then connect them using Link Slopes Between Points. Knowing that Point 2 is not static, but moving point I can't find any way to connect subassembly edge point to that Point 2.
So how can I connect subassembly to Point 2? Or maybe there is a smarter way to connect points 1 and 3. Slope from 1 to 2 should be 50:1 and from 2 to 3 should be 1.5:1

I can import my SA fine, but the problem is that the top of it needs to be cut off 1 m above the existing ground (which is already a surface in civil 3d). How do I setup the target surface so that when I import the SA into my drawing, I can link it to that surface and have it cut off 1 m above the surface?

I need to make them my best friend because the Subassembly Composer is basically useless unless you use the proper point coding for your SAs. This I know... I've attached an image from the Autodesk file that shows multiple point codes per link and point for the DaylightStandard Civil 3D Stock SA.
Which point codes must I use in my subassemblies to ensure I can create corridor surfaces properly down the road? For example the DaylightStandard SA shows...
P3 shows: Ditch_Out, Hinge, Hinge_Cut
P3 also shows: Daylight, Daylight_Fill
P4 = Dayltight, Daylight_Cut
If I'm building something similar in the Subassembly Composer what the heck do I focus in on for my point code. I will have issues with my Corridor surfaces down the road if I don't do this properly up front. I've seen examples where the Input / Output Parameters you define a string for the coding, is this to apply multiple codes to a point or a link?

I've to make a tunnel on my project. I get some subassembly on web but all the tunnel subassemblies have the target point on Width or Offset Target and Slop or Elevation Target. I don't know whats happens but only my region that owns the tunnel subassembly isn't recognizing on corridor, and isn't drawing on my sections too.

I'm trying to create flexible model of a penstock with different ground surface elevation scenario.
In case if both top points of trench below or above EG, there will be cut/fill case to EG.
how to connect P1'/P2' and AX1/AX2 via EG? Basic link wouldn't work because it will be just a straight line.

I'm building up my assembly and I want to add a daylight sub-assembly in order to grade my proposed surface to the existing surface. Typically I would have a 1:3 slope up or down. I have choosen the DaylightGeneral for this and although there is quite a few parameters to play with, I'm only interested in the up/down slope but when I put anything sleeper than 1:4 it doesn't work, I get this red line and circle.

I am trying to create a surface from a corridor. I have a sub-assembly attached, which I believe is working correctly. I managed to create the empty surface and when I try to add surface data nothing seems to happen. I keep changing the specified code to Base which is my finished gravel structure and hit the + but again nothing seems to happen.
Ultimately I am trying to determine a volume between my corridor and original topo.

I have one corridor with several baselines. I have asked it to generate a corridor surface but it has left out several baselines from the surface. I have ruled out assemblies. I am not sure what is going on. I am also unable to get feature lines from this portion of corridor as well. The corridor builds just fine and I can see what the daylight lines are etc. What's going on. Yes I have audited the drawing.

After you go thru and setup all of the links and feature lines that you want to use to create a corridor surface, is there any way to save that particular setup to be used on other corridors? That way you would not have to select all of them again and again, every time that you wanted to create, say a datum surface.

When I create a corridor surface I usually create a suface boundary automatically by daylight.Half the time this works fine, half the time it doesn't work at all. If I view the corridor in 3d view it looks fine.
I tried to create a shrinkwrap polyline to use as a boundary but when I picked the corridor in the shrinkwrap command
it locked up my computer. These are just simple corridors with no intersections. Why the automatic boundary only works intermitently? Is there a better/easier way to create the surface boundary?

I created a surface corridor, called STAGE 1, that I would like to target with a second corridor, STAGE 2. In a new file, I data referenced in STAGE 1 surface. It is showing up as an option for me to use as a target in my STAGE 2 corridor properties. Once I look at my sections it shows there is nothing targeted on that side.

I've created a corridor with kerbline widths targeting featurelines. I've created the corridor at 1m centres and have added a number of individual points to ensure it properly picks up all of the geometry of the target featurelines. However, the surface that has been created has numerous holes in it along one side and I can't understand why.
