AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Corridor - Forcing A Fill Daylight
Jan 7, 2014What is the best method of forcing a fill daylight using an assembly? Though I've played with several links, I'm not managing to get the results I desire.

when I look at it in 3d it looks ok but the plan view the jumped lines show up.
I have problem with corridor surface boundary , in curve boundary line is jumping on daylight fill , but i have created surface on wearing layer ,also when i am adding boundary there is only 3 types of adding , corridor extends , polygon and interactively , photo attached.
I am using Civil 3D 2014
I am creating a corridor with a simple assembly. On my assembly, I have basic lane and daylight Multiple surface. My target is existing ground.
View 9 Replies View RelatedCannot get corridor surface boundary from daylight points. Is there another way so that I do not have to trace the outer limits?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a corridor design and the corridor daylights very close to the pavement. I need to have rock from the EOP out beyond the daylight point to a 30' offset from the alignment. I need it to follow the EG and show a depth of 2' throughout.
I had to draw the rock shapes manually. But I'd like to figure out how to do it using the corridor if possible.
Please see the attached image. Everything beyond the daylight point was traced on top of the EG and then offset 2' to get the bottom.
I'm having a random issue with the daylight ties lopes not tieing to the EG surface at all stations in the Corridor Section Editor. Some stations daylight fine. In plan view the daylight lines vary left & right as expected but don't display at all in Section Editor.
Some background info:2012 Civil 3D SP1 / 64 bit / WIN7Simple corridor used1 alignmentSame fg profileSame drefd EG surface (set all targets for daylight LT/RT)Only one assembly applied to entire corridor Attached are 2 captions of the issue I'm having which each have a cut & fill occurrence as well as a caption of the entire align. & corridor. I did try deleting corridor & recreating and even recreated a simpler assembly and still have the daylight issue in same areas of corridor.
I like to create a daylight assembly with following criterias
Fill/cut Condition
1. Target to surface 2.5% slope
2. If the surface is not met within 19 m from centreline, then till 19 m 2.5% slope and 33% slope afterwards till it hit the surface.

This seems like something that should be really easy but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I even started looking at using the Subassembly composer to create a custom SA but that seems like a ton of work so something that would seem to be a common problem.
I need to provide a v-ditch with 2:1 side slopes at the toe of a 2:1 fill slope. The flow line of the ditch should be 2 ft below the daylight point of the roadway pavement section.
My problem is that the conditional subassembly seems to evaluate the height of fill directly beneath the attachment point of the conditional SA (pavement section daylight point in my case – “Daylight_Sub” Point code). Instead I need it to evaluate the difference in elevation between the catch point of a 2:1 daylight fill slope and the conditional SA attachment point (Daylight_sub). If that difference is less than 2 feet, I need to provide the ditch, otherwise I can just use the daylight slope for the ditch foreslope and the existing surface for the backslope.
how to do this? Maybeits as easy as using a predefined daylight subassembly that I'm overlooking?
Here’s my current assembly attempt:
And the resulting behavior. It is solving the 2nd fill condition when I would like it to solve the 1st fill condition:
I have created surfaces for my original ground and my corridor. Both have appropriate boundaryies and the TIN looks good for both. I am trying to create a volume report through Volume Dashboard. I am able to create the volume surface with no issues but the numbers it comes up with do not seem correct. I can see from my profile that there is a small fill but the software seems to create a fill that is almost half of all the material when my profile shows there is more cut.
I tried creating a sample line group...it also shows the majority is cut. The only thing I can think is that there are about a dozen areas where my daylight does not work. how to do this volume correctly?
I have created a surface from a corridor. I set the boundary of the surface to the daylight of the corridor. In some areas of the corridor the surface does not triangulate see attached.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCopy a corridor successfully? I'd like to try this just a little worried about the explosion of evil this may cause to my Civil 3D session.
Even all the properties of the corridor setup from one to another would be useful. I'm building one corridor and an 2nd one that matches everything except I need to replace my Assembly with one meant for stripping.
My corridor surface is not matching my corridor top links. see attachments. this is affecting my volumes!
The section-plan(surface red).png is showing the section editor and the plan view. the red highlighted line in section is the corridor surface and as you can see in plan view the surface is incorrect and wiggly.
The pdf is all my sections with the red linework being the corridor surface.

Is there a way to force the Low Point or High Point in a vertical curve to a specific and precise station?
I can do it with grips, but it's imprecise. In the project I am currently working on, I have some leeway regarding the slopes into and out of the vertical curve, so I have some flexibility, but some of the LPs and HPs need to precise.

I have a corridor with conditional assembly for all 200 sections. One conditions which stretches 200 feet I can not get the daylight link to show in the sections.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhy I can't mirror the Daylight Inside ROW Subassembly? For some reason I can only place it on the right side of my assembly and in the subassembly properties there is no option to flip it to the left. In the Modify Subassembly section when it's selected the mirror option is greyed out.
What I am trying to accomplish seems simple enough:
I have a utility easement in a drainage ditch that is 30' wide with a sewer line designed down the center, we need a very simple 10' access road on the uphill side of sewer line with 4:1 Cut/Fill slopes on either side when possible, however when the 4:1 won't catch within the easement I need it to daylight within.
At first glance the Daylight Inside ROW seems to be the appropriate subassembly for this instance but I can't get it on the left side of my road.Is there a way to set up this parameter with a different subassembly because I can get other subassemblies on the either side just fine, for example, the Cut Slope Layout Mode subaasembly works but when I build my corridor with it the slopes tie outside of the easement in several locations.

I wonder is it possible to have a daylight (or other function) that can give a different slope for datum and for the top. This would be useful for if you have different rules (e.g. because of geotech) with regard to temporary and permanent batter slopes.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to make a bench right before the daylight line meets the top surface (Original Ground)?
The Road prism is a tylical shape that has a u-shaped ditch on one side. The daylight line from the outside edge of the ditch follows a series of comlicated benches at set elevations and then terminates at OG with no trouble but I'm trying to get an additional bench to be generated before OG (see attached + yellow lines).
how to add this extera bench?
I'm modeling a simple corridor (12' lane 2%, 6' shoulder 6%, 4:1 to match EG). I used the "LinkSlopeToSurface" subassembly for the 4:1 to match the EG. Unfortunately our EG isn't always wide enough for the 4:1 slope to match it somewhere.
Is there an assembly that would use 4:1 as a standard daylight slope, but where necessary adjust the slope, max. 3.5:1, to match EG surface?
I am working on a project where some of the corridors require different daylight slopes. I need to transition between a region with 2:1 slope to a 10:1 slope. My local civ3d support said something about using grading tools to achive that.
What I understood was that my assemblies should not have any daylight sub-assembly and that i should grade the corridor and than add a transition zone between the different gradings. Did I understand correctly?
I have a list of offset distance from centerline on both sildes (left and right). I want to use this to create a polyline that represents the daylight. these offsets are taken from an old hardcopy drawings of cross-sections. is there any way to draw this polyline that follows the alignment?
file can be .txt or .csv
I need to daylight to an offset, to create a clear zone/fall zone, but it must have a maximum slope of 6:1. If no daylight is found at the offset and maximum slope, then grade at the maximum slope to the offset then daylight to the target suface at a steeper slope.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been asked to put a feature (a diversion berm) at the daylight line of a roadway where cut conditions exist off the proposed shoulder. Because of the length of the project, it would be useful if this could be done automatically as part of the corridor, rather than creating a feature line from the daylight line and grading it separately.
Is there a way to continue an assembly past the initial daylight line and make it conditional to cut situations?
Original intent was for daylight to have 4:1 slope and keep within the R/W. This causes some areas to hold water as shown circled in the image. I know I should be able to give it parameters or targets to avoid this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave a question regarding multiple daylight subassemblies, don't know if it is possible. So I have an assembly with a trench SA in cut condition and a project to surface in fill condition, I built the corridor with this assembly and most of things look fine. However, there is a short stretch (in cut condition) of the corridor that I would like to modify such that a trench is not provided. I know I can create a new assembly with my desire condition, then create a new region and drop that assembly there, but I am wondering if there any other way to achieve my goal without another assembly.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI need to rough in a drainage pipe network that connects several structures around a site. The pipe inverts need to be 6.5' below the finished floor of each unit and must maintain a minimum 2% slope. The network needs an outfall at some undetermined point on the site. The pipes must follow some existing roads, so they are not interconnected directly to each structure.
How can I go about determining the potential outfall locations?
I'm building up my assembly and I want to add a daylight sub-assembly in order to grade my proposed surface to the existing surface. Typically I would have a 1:3 slope up or down. I have choosen the DaylightGeneral for this and although there is quite a few parameters to play with, I'm only interested in the up/down slope but when I put anything sleeper than 1:4 it doesn't work, I get this red line and circle.
