In working with various styles and commands within AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008 we are receiving a text error message that reads, "CANNOT DRAW TEXT". This has had an effect on our style looks and sometimes effect text that is already in the drawing. Not everybody in the office gets the error, but most do.

I am having a huge problem with two of our projects. Whenever you try to make modifications in the file, it has this error "ERROR: Could not draw text!" in the command line - HUNDREDS of times. (As a matter of fact, it maxes out the amount of lines that the command history will remember.)
Mainly this occurs with ACA objects like walls and doors; does not do it for lines. It will also do this if you "undo" a command involving an ACA object. It also does this if you run an audit on the drawing. THUS, making the drawing very slow.
We have tried to copy out the objects and paste them into our clean template, but it follows along with it.
Is there something that I can delete or remove from the drawing? I need to get this fixed as we are just at 50% and 95% on the files, so I will need to be able to use them for a while. Projects are too big to redraw the files.

I don't do cross sections very often, so when I need one, I draw a second alignment perpendicular to the first and profile that alignment to give me a bare bones cross section. I'd like to do these cross sections on a given interval, and at every change in direction. How should I go about it?

How to draw this object?
I want to draw an object similar to the dimension that contains two arrowheads with TWO “text dimension” to indicate the range each “steel bar” covers. This is important to indicate the range the two bars cover with the same dimension object.

I have a list of offset distance from centerline on both sildes (left and right). I want to use this to create a polyline that represents the daylight. these offsets are taken from an old hardcopy drawings of cross-sections. is there any way to draw this polyline that follows the alignment?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat I want to do is to have an area label where the text background mask obscures linework but does not obscure the parcel fill (hatch). I think it looks bad when you have a light hatch where the background mask cuts a big hole in it.
Usually I would use draw order to do something like this. But since the fill and text are part of one object that won't work. I looked to see if there was any way to affect the order in the Parcel Style but didn't see any.
What are the options for drawing utilities (namely water lines) in plan view and having them properly show in profile view?
I'm familiar with creating a polyline, turning it into a feature line, weeding vertices, etc. That works all right but is lnog-winded and really doesn't work well when dealing with lots of curves.
I have to repeatedly draw a circle with 3P option.
I first invoke the circle command, choose the 3P option.
In my second and subsequent cycles, I click "enter" and have to click "3P" again.
Is there a way my chosen option of "3P" is invoked by default on one or two clicks of the spacebar or enter button?
How to make the process of manually drawing a boundary around a topo so that you can add it as a boundary in a C3D surface? Sometimes the topo's we recieve already has a boundary in it, but often, there is not. So we have to manually draw a polyline around the whole extent of the topo, which can take a long time.

The only problem that I have is that the automated fill hatch that I'm using between my existing and finish profiles is showing up behind the grid lines. Unfortunately, we use "lines overwrite" as a standard, so I can't just switch to "lines merge". Any way or a setting that would allow me to move the draw order of the fill hatch above the grid lines?

I am trying to separate out a number of layouts to different drawings and want to speed up the process.
When I label contours by "Contour Multiple", I get a line going thru my contours. I can remove this thru the Properties pallette.
Is there a setting somewhere to make it default to not draw a line?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created a profile. I have my surfaces, projected other surfaces onto it, looks good. So then, I want to do some simple drawing on my profile. Everything looks good in model space. Create a viewport for the profile and things(basic linework) appear in a different location than where I drew them. I figure I need to project an object to make it work because they are associated.
So I draw my simple arc ( arch culvert) with footings and block it. great its where i want it and its a block. Gave it the appropriate elevation when creating the block. go through the project objects and it added. But now its added it in a different spot.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe draw order toolbar icon is displayed on screen. When I try to change the draw order, I hit the toolbar and get an AI_Draworder unknown command. I even moved the toolbar in a different part of the screen. The only why I can now change the draw order on an entity is the type in the word draworder in the command line. Is there any way to reactiviate the draw order toolbar?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI need to lay one of our existing blocks ontop of every power outlet on a floorplan (the power outlets are currently shown as a simple shape (eg. either a rectangle, triangle or circle) with text next to it.
There are hundreds of power outlets, so if there is a lisp routine for replacing any part of the power outlet with the block, eg. replacing text/mtext with a block or replacing a pline with a block.
I have found a very successful lisp routine for replacing circles with blocks, but this obviously only works on the power outlets that are shown as circles. So a simpler way of looking at it could be a lisp for drawing a circle around mtext/text then I could simply use the circle to block lisp to place the blocks.

I have a number of Sites in my drawing. I want to be able to set a Site current (in LISP) so that when you create or draw a feature line, the site is set to the desired value. I haven't seen a variable or setting for this.
I have a very frequent need to draw lines that radiate out from a point on different bearings and distances. I think of this as a sideshot.

Civil 3D’s sideshot command acts differently. It draws lines between the radial end points.

Do you know what command is needed to do what I want? It is not the Create Line by Side Shot command.
There are a ton of lisp to match text rotation to a selected line, but not vice versa.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI created a text using the "chip away" filter and really liked the way it looked. Then I wanted to glowing hot filter to add some cracks into the text, to make it look like lava was coming out of it, but every time .
I try this the background turns completely white, or the text just becomes "glowing hot" and the "chip away" filter disappears.
