AutoCAD Civil 3D :: 2013 - Create A Quick Profile Using Points Method?

create a quick profile using the Points method?
When I am asked for the Profile Origin the cursor is like a standard Windows Arrow pointer and won't let me select a point for the origin. If I use a polyline for the quick profile all works as expected...

I have 4 points/corners (with XYZ-coordinates) of a square shape created in the DWG of my AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 program. I want to create 2 "triangle-shape" parcels (one parcel connects Points #1-#2-#3-#1 and the other parcel connects Points #1-#4-#3-#1. How can I create these 2 "triangle-shape" Parcels from the 4 points/corners of a squre shape?
I have an alignment label that I normally use to show the PVI's of a profile in the plan view.
This is a little unusual, but in a specific case I wanted to design my profile at one alignment, but show it at another. I designed my swale profile in the pathway profile view and then superimposed the swale profile on the swale profile view. I then went back to the swale alignment to add these labels.
It's a no-go AFAICT. The only profile available for me to select for these labels is the original ground profile from the surface.
Not everytime but very often when I create a quick profile from line, polyline or feature line, my Autocads locks. The only thing I can see is the command prompt asking to specify the point of origin for the quick profile and I can't seem to do anything. The only way to get out of the command is by trying to close the autocad window in the task bar or task manager.
To fix this it takes various steps: regenall, zooming out, but still the odd time I get it to work. This seems to me like a video card issue, but I had this problem with several video cards and windows versions (7&8). Currently using Nvidia Geoforce GTX 770M.
I had to create a boundary map and place points to all corners. How to export these newly created points back into my data collector (Ranger) and also I'm trying to figure out how to print out a points list.
I stumbled on to this thread but I guessing that it's a different CAD year because my modify tab doesn't look like this. URL.....
i have a long alignment going through a lot of creeks. right now the creeks are in xref just polylines but it intersect with alignments at areas.
is there a quick way to show all these lines on profile for design and drafting purposes? ideally want to just show a line at each intersection would be fine.
tried using pipes takes too long to set up. this is one important feature to have in the software.
i can program it again but i have not enough time to finish this project by mid october if i keep programming things.

If if manually flatten the figure using a dummy suface with the AeccFeatureElevsFromSurf command, the polyline derived from survfig.BaseCurve will then have actual arc segments.
Is there another method or a way to flatten the figure programatically first?
I am working C3D 2012. I have a proposed alignment and profile design by another firm that I had to tranfer into C3D. I had no problem getting the horizontal alignment to display from a text file. I tried to do the same with the profile by using the 'create a text file and create the profile from file' command. I got the POB, PI's, and POE to display. I then defined the VC. I wanted to verifiy that the profile was indeed accurate compared to what we were provided. So I tried to execute a profile report PVI Station and Curve Report - I keep getting an error that "No FG profiles in dwg".
I know the Proposed profile is indeed set to proposed in the properties. I have noticed that the icon next to the profile I create from the text file is different than the profiles created from scratch.
Is there a way to convert this profile to be recognized as a FG profile?
The intersection wizard makes dynamic EOP profiles based off of the cross slope from the centerline. Well the intersection tool doesn't always work with funky intersection layouts. Is it possible to manually create a dynamic EOP profile based on the cross slope from the centerline profile?
We have an engineer who is taking an existing surface and wants to show a proposed road 2" higher than existing.
I told him to simply adjust his assembly for his corridor to account for the 2" difference, but the County agency needs to see a profile.
My questions:
1) Is there a way to easily copy a profile made from a surface and "convert" it to a proposed profile? If we copy and explode, it turns into hundreds (thousands?) of tiny pline segments and it would be a mess to convert all those to a profile 1 by 1. If we make the corridor, and choose "profile from corridor", we do not have an option that could be used to represent the centerline.
2) Other than loss of dynamic updating), would it make sense to adjust the assembly so the top surface would be accurate, then copy the profile, explode the copy to a block and simply shift that (as essentially basic linework)?
I am working on a pipeline profile. I have survey information (existing surface) and the horizontal alignment. I have created an existing surface, a pipe alignment, and a surface profile/profile view.
In the profile view, it only showed the existing surface. Now I have taken the design information of the pipeline and drawn in the vertical alignment on the profile view.
I need a surveyor to go out and shoot the top of pipe at high points, low points, and select points in between.
I have placed a pvi for each of these locations.
I need to know how to either spit out a table of these points that will include northings and eastings or create cogo points from the pvis so that i can create a table from the points that will include northings and eastings.
I have projected Civil 3D COGO Points projected to a profile. I simply want to display the Civil 3D Point Number for each point in the profile.
In the Profile Projection Label Style, the only field in the text editor that displays this point number is the "Source Object Name. This shows up as "CogoPoint 124" for point 124 (see attached). How do I make this simply say the point number ONLY, i.e. "124"?
It would be nice to program the label style to display this field, yet delete the first 10 characters of "CogoPoint x", so it only says the point number, "x"
With QP activated, if I select an object (say an alignment or profile view) on the screen and want to pick its GRIP, I have to click the screen FIRST to get focus back to the drawing window (so two clicks). The same applies to the contextual Ribbon, it takes two clicks to 'press' a ribbon button if QP is activated.
Is there a quick method for turning a 13 page Ai file into 13 separate Ai files? I need to resave or RIP them as normalized PDF files, and I need to start with single-page ai files.
If I list one of the objects, it is defined as a block. I have repeatedly tried to explode this but to no avail.
My intention is to convert these AutoCAD "points" as points in Civil 3D to process them further. When I use Points>Convert AutoCAD points commands, it returns me a "invalid selection" message.
How do I explode these blocks and convert them to Civil 3D point objects?
I am working in a .dwg that i have previously created cogo point in, but now when i try to created cogo points manually, it goes through the prompts, but will not create the point. P.S I am using Civil 3d 2011
I have 4 points (from "Points from file", I created Points #1, #2, #3 and #$ in the non-linear fashion).
1) I want to create 4 straight lines (connecting Pt#1-Pt#2, P#2-P#3, P#3-Pt#4, P#4-P#1) by using some Commands. What Commands in the Command Line should I use to create these 4 straight lines from these 4 points?
2) I want to create 1 parcel (connecting Pt#1-Pt#2-Pt#3-Pt#4-Pt#1) by using some Commands after "Parcel Creation Tools" => Draw Tangent-Tangent with No Curve is clicked. What Commands should I use in the Command Line to specify these points to form a parcel?
In previous versions, grip editing a point from one place to another maintained the point elevation regardless of how the point was moved. For instance, drag it from it's current location and snap to the end of a line. In 2013 the point elevation now changes to match the elevation of the point snapped to.
Is there a new setting to control how points react to Osnaps? Or are we now expected to use the .XY filter (without ever being notified of this change in workflow)?
Is there a way for me to display different points in each viewport? I have figured out how to freeze layers and realize I can put the points and labels on different layers but am curious if this is the only alternative?
I was wondering if there is a setting somewhere that can be turned on to display the manual points I am creating as I create them instead of having to go back and update the point group before they display in the drawing?
I have the need to put COGO points along the vertices of multiple 3D polylines in a DWG. I know how to do this individually for each 3DPL via the "Points>Create - Miscellaneous > Polyline Vertices - Automatic" or "CREATEPTPLYLNCTRVERTAUTO" command. Need tip on how to do this in a batch format for all the selected 3D PLines in the drawing without having to select each individual 3DPL and having to hit return to enter a description for each individual vertex? I can do without having to add a description and can leave each description blank or enter the same description for each.
I want to create new vertex points in feature line and 3dpol.
I have this: try { if (obj.GetType() == typeof(Autodesk.AutoCAD.DatabaseServices.Polyline3d)) { Polyline3d p3d = (Polyline3d)trans.GetObject(entRes.ObjectId, OpenMode.ForWrite);
always catches the same Exception "the value is not within the expected range" .I have translated it because I get "El valor no está dentro del intervalo esperado". Perhaps is this: " Value does not fall within the expected range.".
I have tried it with different point3d values but always catches Exception.
With pol3d I have similar problem.

I have created 8 points (from 4 locations with 2 depths in each location) in _All Points/Points. These 8 points are grouped into 2 Point Groups:
Points #1, #3, #5 & #7 for Point Group - (1) Depth#1 and Points #2, #4, #6 & #8 for Point Group - (2) Depth#2.
The "Name" of Point is filled with the SampleID (like cdc-ss01-s1, cdc-ss01-s2,...) - see the attached file. From the HELP of AutoCAD C3D 2013, I have read/studies the "Point Tables" and "Point Label Styles" and I cannot figure out how to label the 8 points to show the "Point Number", "Point Elevation", and "Name" of Point (i. e. the SampleID like cdc-ss01-s1 & cdc-ss01-s2, ....).!!
I'm working as a contractor for a consulting firm and I'm inputting station points using alignments in to my c3d 2013 drawings.
The issue arises when people in the main office need to revise my drawings in their 2011 version of autocad and the station points come out as a surrounding the pline rectangle; a.k.a. crap-o-la.
I've tried saving the station points themselves (or the "alignment", that is) as a block and a wblock but when I input those in to their 2011 version the block comes in as an "OLE" and my lines are incased in a white rectangle and cannot be used further as part of the drawing.
Is there any other way to alignment make the transition from c3d to 2011 regular?
