AutoCAD Architecture :: Title Mark Callout Scale Not Working?
Jul 18, 2007when i drag over a view onto the sheet and add a title marker the scale doesnt show up.... isnt it supposed to update this automatically?

AutoCAD Architecture :: Default View Title From Callout Tool Palette
Apr 6, 2012I've been using Revit a lot more and dont remember a lot about ADT and AutoCAD Architecture.
I've been getting reacquainted with creating sheet templates and smart tags for a project I'm working on. I have the Sheet creating okay but when I placed a view on the sheet and tried to tag it with the default view title from the call out tool palate all I get is the name of the view and placeholders for the view number and view scale. It says "View Number" and "viewport scale." From what I remember it should at least give me question marks if its linking but it doesn't look like its making any connections.
AutoCAD Architecture :: Title Block With Scale Field?
Jul 6, 2011One of the guys here has created a title block which has a scale field in it, this field reads the scale at which the title block is brought in, by use of an invisible attribute (he used the block in model space so that's why I scale them up). When he xref the dwg into my main drawing all is fine and the scales are as they should be but when he prints, the scales all show 1:1 on the print and in the main drawing. Could this be due to the fact that the xref is brought in at 1:1? But we can't see why this would change it as the block is obviously still at e.g. 1:50 in the xref.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Plotting To PDF Scale Not Working?
Aug 21, 2012I'm trying to plot a simple site plan to PDF through the DWG to PDF.pc3 option.
The scale in my model space is 1-1 and in my viewport in paper space 1-200.
The issue is I plot to PDF, and then the scale is way out. For example an object that should be 10,000mm long in model space appears as 59mm (11,800mm scaled) on the PDF. And of course when I print from the PDF to a printer this scale error carries over.

Dec 5, 2013As I continue my learning of AutoCad on the PC after having been a Mac CAD (non-AutoCad) user for 15+ years, another question has cropped up. My boss wants the circular "heads" of the elevation and sectional callouts to be smaller on the finished drawings. How can I control (or override) the default size of these? Or do I need to override on a case by case basis? I've searched these and other forums and what I am getting a sense of is that AutoCad controls those sizes pretty tightly so they remain annotative and AutoCad sets them at the size it thinks they should be and changing that size is not a simple process.

Jun 4, 2012As far as I know it does not happen all the time, it had just started. I checked another drawing and I did not run into this problem. The "Pre" image is when first inserting in the block into the drawing. The other two images are that after the drop down option of scale has been changed and when exploding the block and attempting to manually change it to the correct way.

Mar 29, 2011I have a Viewport set to scale 1:100 and the Viewport is locked.The Annotation Scale displayed in the Viewport was 1:50.
When I clicked on the Synchronize Icon beside the Viewport Scale, the Viewport Scale changed, even though the Viewport was locked.
I was expecting the Annotation Scale to synchronize to the Viewport Scale.
Is this how it is supposed to work? and why does a locked Viewport Scale change?

I've been searching and finding nothing on this issue, with exception of Autodesk personnel telling users to use the scale display on the views. I know it's not the "Autodesk way" of doing things, but my company has been putting the main view scale in the title block for over 30 years.
I've been using Patrick de Stobbeleir's "iProperty Collection" utility since Inv11, and it does the job. The thing that bugs me, though, is that I can't figure out how to get the FirstViewScale:x custom properties to work intelligently in my title blocks. I just use the property FirstViewScale in my title block, which displays the scale of the first view put down...no matter what the sheet.
how I can use the FirstViewScale:x property in title blocks such that x is the sheet number? So far we just have the first sheet use the FirstViewScale, and then subsequent sheets use a prompted entry (I know it's an ugly work-around).

AutoCAD 2010 :: Drawing Scale As Defined Attribute In Title Block
Mar 13, 2012Is it possible to create a 'drawing scale' defined attribute inside my title block when brought into paper space? I tried setting it up using 'plotscale' fieldname with various formats and it keeps coming in as 1" = 1' or 1:1 rather than 1" = 20' because that's what my plot scale is inside paper space but my drawing scale is 20 scale. If I bring the title block in model space, it adjusts, but I don't plot from model space. Surely there's a way to make this automated inside paper space.
Also, I just setup a 'Date' attribute inside my title block today. What's the difference between Date, Saved Date and Plot Date? Will 'Date' update if its in a drawing and opened up a month from now and saved or do i need to take 'Date' out and replace with 'Saved Date' or Plot Date'?.

I put a dummy @ base where I measured it with the tape measure.

Sep 20, 2012I want to get up to speed on the whole sheet, navigator, title mark thing but it seems so much more straightforward in Revit. I used to use mview and layouts and would title by hand on paper space layouts. With the functionally of Revit (it seems to be straight forward to drop in field information in title marks, sheet, numbers etc.) I am having problems in the navigator.
My process now in Autocad 2013 is to draw in model space, go to a layout in paper space, insert using 'mview' with the scale appropriate to the paper space sheet (that has an imported border with logo company info etc.). In order to automate the title marks, I use the tools pallet and drag that block into the layout. The title mark won't recognize the mview, so I made vports (using the vports dialog) but these boxes disappear when I exit that vport dialog box. When I insert the title mark from the pallet these vports show up when dragged over, but disappear again when placed or when the cursor is moved away. There appears on these vports to be a title mark location already as the lower left hand corner has a circle (as to show a view number).
So is the mview not a vport? How do I get the current vports to show their borders on the layout or how do I get the mview border to become a vport? I'd like to get the automatic fields to work so that I can enjoy the functionality I am currently enjoying in Revit. 'Why not just use Revit', there are times when our office needs to use autocad when revit doesn't make sense.

No matter which font I pick under "Edit Schedule Table Style" after a selection of the schedule and right clik, the title font will not change. The listed doors font does change. Apr 2, 2012I was presented with a little renovation project and need to setup my own drawing. I've worked on CAD for a number of years while at a structural firm, an engineering firm and took classes in school but one thing I never had to do was setup was my own professional drawing from scratch. I know enough that it's crucial I start off on the foot. The engineering firm I worked at had everything ready so whenever I used CAD it was in an existing drawing or preparing a detail which the drafters imported. When I did some drafting work for an architect, he also had the drawing setup for me.
Since I'm now on my own I need to setup my own template drawing with a title block, layers, etc. Whats the best route for setting up my own sheets?
At my firm we always worked in a 1:1 scale & engineering units but since I'm doing floor plans for renovation work I plan on using the industry standard.
AutoCAD Architecture :: Project Fields In Title Block Sheet Template
Jun 26, 2012I've created a sheet template that includes Fields to populate the sheet with the Project Name and location among others like scale, etc. When I create the new sheet in the project navigator most of the fields populate with the correct information based on the parameters set in the project. However, it consistantly does not populate the Project name and location. When I click the field and ensure that the attribute is set correctly then it renders the correct information. The problem is this ends up being a manual operation yet it still reads as a smart tag. Why do these not populate automatically?
Here's my process:
Create dwt for sheet file and include xref of title block.
Create a block with attributes that link to AEC Project, CurrentSheetTitle, etc. and insert into dwt.
In project navigator I create new sheet and select my template.
Information does not populate.
But when I view the block and close (no edits) it then links.

Aug 11, 2013I need to insert a Key Plan as a small part in my title blocks. I have a key plan ready in my model section. I did tried to play around in the block editor but could not find anything useful. I wish I could insert the key plan like viewport in the layout section.
On the side, my file directory always showed up on the paper when I printed my drawing out. Do you know how I can get rid of this ?

We use the common (24x36) sheet size for all projects, but when plotting we send out half size (12x18) as well. This means the scale bar reading 1"=40' is no longer correct. It should read 1"=20'. I would like to automate this.

Is there a way to have a label return a half size automatically in an effort to have only one view title. Otherwise our current work around is to make each view title for each scale and create a viewport for each scale in our template. I have heard that the labels are hardcoded and cannot be changed.
