I want to transfer or copy the tool palettes (walls, doors, FFE) from one profile to another. I have all my tool bars, set in one profile correctly, but all the tool palettes are in another profile.
Is there a way to copy these tools into another profile? Even if I over-right another palette?
I want to create a profile/wall style or what ever you want to call it for a raised deck flooring for external decking. I am looking at the decking material only. Not concerned about the timber framing sub floor material.

My machine is a 64 bit computer and his is a 32 bit.
Is there a way to convert the xpg to a different extension or will I have to set up his palettes from scratch?
It is a question about xrefing Civil 3D profile style.
The Civil 3D file has a profile view showing 4 profiles, and 4 different profile styles are used for the purpose of comparison. When xrefing this file, the profiles are not shown the way they are defined in the profile style. It seems their appearances are controlled by layer properties. I just wonder if it is possible to transfer profile style through XREF?
How to create a tag and add it to my tool palettes for future use?
I am using AutoCAD Architecture 2012, and I want to be able to tag the bottom elevation of slabs in my drawings. I found I can create a tag by using the DEFINETAG command and I created text in there that is set to display the bottom elevation of slabs. I'm stuck as to where to go from here. I can't actually "tag" anything with this, and I don't know how to add it to my tool palettes.
When I start AutoCad and also if I try to select the Refresh icon on the Pallett, I get a pop up that says "There was an error while refreshing. The palette could not be refreshed" Could there be a path that is broken, if so where would it be?

However adding new items fails despite all files not being read only also if a add a new palette nice though AutoCAD ADT will create one it wont actually allow me to add anything to it...

I attached a file to do the test. Drag the tag to your tool palettes in space and try to apply the design to see the problem.
I've been using the design group in the tool palettes, and adding my own tool palettes as I create them.Today I login and see that my tool palettes is not docked to the left side of the screen anymore.So I push CTRL-3 to bring it back up.The tool palettes that I see there are the "All Palettes" group.
I cannot choose the design group, document group, detailing group, or the visualization group. They are not even selectable in the right click menu of the tool palette bar. But when I customize palettes the 4 groups show up there, but they are useless.And not even all the tool palettes are there. "Design" is missing, Windows, Doors. Any way of getting my palette groups back to the way it was before, other than re-installing autocad?
Got a problem with tool palettes ever since ACA 2012. When ever I start ACA, I have to push cntrl+3 to show the tool palettes. It's starting to get anoying that I have to do this, and I can't find any setting that will let the tool palettes display on startup.

The block showed up properly on everone's computer the day I added it. However each morning when we restart our computers the block is no longer on the palette and I have to redrag & drop it. I thought that prerhaps I needed to export the updated toolpalette, but when I go to the customize tool palettes dialog box and right click on the toolpalette I don't see the export or import options. I am at a loss. We are using AutoCAD Architecture 2013

What's the best way to share tool palettes within an office?
I do it through profiles: I Created an 'office' profile (.arg) that I eventually share with every employee in the office. Whenever I add things to the tool palettes, I simply create a new profile for every user.
However, lately not every palette gets transferred. I've done a major reorganisation of the office tool palette and only a very small amount of palettes actually get transferred.

Unable to Execute the tool. Possible causes are:
- The tool is not registered properly. Please check your installation.
- The tool is from another application and is incompatible with the current application.
I recently had my entire computer wiped clean, upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7, and reinstalled Arch 2012, so no other versions have been on this system. All of my basic drafting functions work fine.
I found an old thread about using Regedit to change the registry of the tool palettes, but that simply made my tool palette empty. I just installed this, so I don't understand why I would need to reinstall.
I have an alignment label that I normally use to show the PVI's of a profile in the plan view.
This is a little unusual, but in a specific case I wanted to design my profile at one alignment, but show it at another. I designed my swale profile in the pathway profile view and then superimposed the swale profile on the swale profile view. I then went back to the swale alignment to add these labels.
It's a no-go AFAICT. The only profile available for me to select for these labels is the original ground profile from the surface.
I'm working with a structure profile label style and it seems like the only way to anchor the position of the label is based on offsets from the structure itself... Any way to position the label based on the top of the profile view, so that I could make all of my labels horizontally aligned above the profile view?

While creating this bandset I see that the text component editor properties only has code for profile 1 elevation and profile 2 elevation in the properties area, which the code for this looks like below.

Ive tried to write my own code using the profile 2 as an example but it doesnt seem to work as a 3rd surface/profile and only seems to mimic the profile 2 elevation when placed in the band
My questions are as follows
1) does Civil 3d only allow 2 surface elevations in any band set? if it does allow more profiles/surface elevations what am i missing to create it?
2) if Civil 3d does alow for multiple surfaces to be shown in the band set how do i get the text component editor to supply the extra profile elevation codes? or would i need to create from scratch
3) if i need to write the code from scratch does any listing of the codes and meanings of each code ie what does RN, Uft, Sn and so forth do and mean .
I have a group of profiles in a drawing and I want to change how one of the profiles is displayed through the profile view style manager, but I do not want to change how all of the profiles look. Is there a way to change the way a single profile looks without changing all of them?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working C3D 2012. I have a proposed alignment and profile design by another firm that I had to tranfer into C3D. I had no problem getting the horizontal alignment to display from a text file. I tried to do the same with the profile by using the 'create a text file and create the profile from file' command. I got the POB, PI's, and POE to display. I then defined the VC. I wanted to verifiy that the profile was indeed accurate compared to what we were provided. So I tried to execute a profile report PVI Station and Curve Report - I keep getting an error that "No FG profiles in dwg".
I know the Proposed profile is indeed set to proposed in the properties. I have noticed that the icon next to the profile I create from the text file is different than the profiles created from scratch.
Is there a way to convert this profile to be recognized as a FG profile?

I try to make curb return profile without profile view like a intersect command.
I was make curb return alignment but I can not find profile command without profile view.
The intersection wizard makes dynamic EOP profiles based off of the cross slope from the centerline. Well the intersection tool doesn't always work with funky intersection layouts. Is it possible to manually create a dynamic EOP profile based on the cross slope from the centerline profile?

I have yet to produce a profile. I created a polyline and turned it into an alignment.
Looking at alignment Sample(3), I see that it is not superimposed over your surface. The polylines are, but the alignment is not. That will disallow creation of a surface profile.
Is the sample5 an alignment that sits on the surface? how come there is still no profile?
differences in elevations of points along Profile 2 (the proposed new road elevation) and Profile 1 (the existing elevation/surface) should be computed and shown right above the Profile 2 line. For example, if at a certain point PT 1 the elevation of the proposed road is 132.44 meters and the elevation of the existing surface is 132.45 meters, the difference is -0.01 meters and it should be shown exactly above the Profile 2 line (or a little bit above it) but not on it. The same should be done for every chosen point along the proposed profile.
So far, I have done this manually, by dragging the difference (already automatically computed and shown in one of the bands below the profiles) to the correct place for every single point. However, I don't know how to do this automatically.
The attached profile is a section from a solid. I would like to create a closed profile in order to extrude the shape into a solid. The polyline command and splinedit don't seem to do the trick.
