AutoCAD 2013 :: Title Block Insertion Causing Abort?

May 30, 2012

Whenever I insert a title block I get an "AutoCAD Error Aborting" message - FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0040 Exception at d69ac126h.

The title blocks have been working fine for months in ACAD2012, and I've even tried saving the drawing containing the blocks as an AutoCAD 2013 dwg to no effect.

The title blocks are 'home-made' and contain a mix of fields and attributes, could this be causing the problem?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Block Insertion From Tool Palette Using Tracking Not Working Anymore

Oct 23, 2013

Since AutoCAD 2013, I'm not able to use tracking when inserting block from tool palette. Example, I want to insert a door at 6 inches from a wall. I click the door from the tool palette, leave a tracking point at the wall corner, move the cursor in the right direction and type 6 follow by enter. The door is insert randomly in the drawing. It was working perfectly in previous release.

Actually I had to insert the door anywhere in the drawing and moving it  at the right place and rotate it if required, it is very tedious.

AutoCAD 2013 :: How To Create Title Block For Drawings

Jun 5, 2012

I'm having some difficulty in deciding how to go about creating a title block for my drawings. I have attempted to create the title block with Document fields from the drawing properties custom properties tab, and creating the same fields with information from the Sheet / Sheet Set fields. Both title blocks used attributes inside the block to house the fields, and both were .dwt files.

Is there a way to take the properties from the .dwt drawing into a newly created drawing, or is there a way to link custom sheet set properties with a newly created sheet set? The main goal is to not have the user manually input multiple custom fields either in the drawing properties or the sheet set manager of the new drawing.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Title Block Does Not Show Up When Plotting

Oct 25, 2012

I made a 24 x 36 title block with attributes and saved it as a wblock.

1) When I inserted the title block into a 24 x 36 paper space, The titleblock does not fit. and the texts are messed up as well. The text are in in their respective places. What I did to create the title block is to basically created a title block border and then created the text. So, I made a block out of the borders and then a block out of the text then I made a block out of the whole thing (text and border). After i saved it as a wblock. When saving as wblock i chose entire drawing and once i chose object.

2) When I try to test plotting with this title block i made (even though it does not fit in) it does not show up in print preview.

How do I make some of the text Bold and others not? but keep them all same style?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Import Title Block From Inventor

Mar 12, 2013

I use Inventor 2013 regularly and only sometimes require the use of AutoCAD, mainly for 2D electrical layout drawings.

I have saved my drawing .idw template file from Inventor to a .dwg

Inserted it into AutoCAD .dwg

Saved as an AutoCAD .dwt

now the only issue that I have, is the image that I had embedded into the inventor drawing template, shows up as an icon instead of my compnay logo:

Is AutoCAD capable of showing images in a title block and hwo would I go about deleting the current icon image and replace it with the logo?

I tried deleting the current image in block editor but it won't let me select it.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Plotting Logo Is Xreffed Into Title Block

May 7, 2013

The incorrect plotted logo is xref'd into a title block. It appears fine on a plot preview. The same titleblock is Xref'd into all other drawings with no problems. I have tried printing both directly from my desk to the printer, and plotting it to a file. I have tried PDFing it in both Bluebeam and Adobe. Bluebeam PDF has lines vertically, evenly spaced, throughout the entire drawing; Adobe is unexceptably blurring.  I have purged and audited all the Xref's in the drawing as well as the drawing itself. I have even created a new drawing and rexref'd everything and brought the work over. Nothing has worked. There is nothing more frustrating then having all the work done but not being able to submit it. I already spent 2 days trying to fix this and the project goes out at the end of the week.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Setup Title-block For Everyone At New Place Of Business

Feb 11, 2013

I'm trying to setup a title-block for everyone at my new place of business.

In this new job, 98% of our drawings are done in a single file with multiple layouts. I would like to set my template up so that things like Rev numbers and drawn by, and checked by etc., are updated in all layouts by changing just the first sheet. I also want to include a field for the drawn date so that it takes the current date (they want the drawn date to reflect the print date rather than the actual drawn date...)

I would like to incorporate attributes for things like checked by, engineer check, and such but make them so they don't appear unless you open the attribute editor.

AutoCAD 2013 :: How To Create Dynamic Block With Attributes - Drawing Title

I was able to find a tutorial on attributed door numbers, but it does not work for drawing titles that has attributes. GOAL:  I would like to have all my seven drawing titles in one file and to be able to stretch the leg of any selected title to a desired length.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Block Insertion Routine Based On Block File Name

Apr 5, 2013

Create a routine that looks for a block based on a portion of that block name, using a specified path or search path.

For example, block to search for is BLOCKABC123, so if someone inputs ABC or 123 as a block name, it will locate that block within that folder and inserts it into the drawing at a user specified location.

Ideally, if there is a check in that if it finds more than one match, then perhaps it flags or prompts you to choose 1, 2, or 3 option which block to use.  But I can live without this special function if it requires too much time to code.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create Block With Attributes That Automatically Complete X / Y And Z For Insertion Point Of Block?

Feb 14, 2013

Is there a way to create a block with attributtes that automatically complete x, y, z, lat, long for the insertion point of the block?

I am trying to complete text in paperspace that will automatically fill in the lat long of a point in model space without using a table.  I have tried field insertion with reference to a cogo point, but it doesn't give options for position on a cogo point.  If I pick a block with attributes, it will let me pick any attributes, and x,y position for the block.

Cogo points show all the information I need to propagate in the properties....but how do I get that to translate into the text using fields or some other method?

AutoCAD .NET :: Unitless Block Insertion

Sep 11, 2013

If you insert a Unitless block into a drawing with the units set to mm or inches via the interface, AutoCAD will automatically take care of the scaling for you. By looking at the properties of a Unitless block after insertion it appears as though all CAD is doing is scaling the block in accordance with the units in the drawing.

How CAD is doing this calculation and how to get the same effect using the .NET API at the time of insertion?I could setup a function that examines the units of the block being inserted and the units of the drawing the block is being inserted into but how would i be sure i'm using the same conversion value as CAD?

e.g. I might decide 1 Unit = 0.0393 when i do the insert, whereas CAD might use 1 Unit = 0.03937007.

It would be nice to either use the same value or a function that the API provides that i'm not aware of to do the conversion

AutoCAD .NET :: Block Insertion Along Closed Polyline

Aug 3, 2011

Yhe problem I'm having is that when the Block angle is say "zero"  the block is inserted the same way both on top and below the polyline. Since the blocks surround the polyline the blocks on the downside should have an additional 180 degree rotation. How to deduct that the portion of the polyline is in a certain quadrant and adjust the insertion angle as necc? I 'm not sure thats even the best approach.

I'd like to know if its possible to set up a prompt when inserting the block into a drawing that allows me to type the desired distance of the stretch parameter and have the rectangle stretch to the entered distance as its inserted.

I'm trying to automate the process of simply inserting the block and then dragging the grips of the parameter out or updating the distance via the properties panel.

AutoCad :: Polyline And Accurate Block Insertion?

Mar 5, 2012

I have a polyline which consists of straight lines and curves in 2D enviroment.

I want to extract some coordinates. I usually use block refferences and "dataextraction" command. However, the problem is as follows:

I need to mark many things along the polyline's way at no constant intervals (not possible to "measure" it) If I have "osnap" on, I can't hit the spots I like for obvious reasons. If I have "osnap" off, I can't place the object accurately on polyline's way.

So, what I need is: how to allign multiple blocks to a said polyline. Allignment needs to be done as accurate as possible, prefferably perpendicularly to closest tangent of polyline.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Convert Block Back To Title Block Or Border

Feb 15, 2012

We have a title block and border which is used in MS.  If this is referenced using AMTITLE then it acts as expected.  We issue these to some external people to create our drawings but they have been using CTRL-C and V to place them in a new drawing.  ACAD does now not see them as a Title block or border but as blocks.  We have a process to bring DWG's into SAP and this will check for a title block and border.

The issue is we need to fix these drawings and currently this means removing the borders and title blocks and placing new ones then adding all the attributes again.  Is there a way to convert the blocks back to how they should be?
