I was wondering if there was a way to import devices on the same rung but in parallel. In addition, maybe even sereral devices going into another (ex: 3 phase motor).
View 3 RepliesI've downloaded and installed AutoCAD 2014 using one of our subscription licenses in order to review it before putting it on other machines (for the purpose of bug-checking and trying out new features). I also have a Map3D subscription license for which Autodesk offered me a free trial upgrade (for this subscription term) to Infrastructure Design Suite (IDS).
While going through the steps for installing IDS, I noticed that the IDS license includes a copy of AutoCAD. I cancelled it before installation and tried to use the LTU to export my current 2014 license. However, when I try to open the LTU, the Windows working icon spins for a bit then nothing happens. It works for my 2013 license but not 2014.
We have 5 seats of Autocad LT 2013 and I need to change/upgrade their pc. I need to deactivate the licenses so that i can transfer or activate to the new computer but License Export Confirmation is failed. the computer is connected to the internet. I tried many times but still no luck.

I teach AutoCAD to high school kids via "cyber school" and one of my students was sending me drawings on which the SNAP was NOT "snapping" parallel to the X axis and the GRID was not present at all-
Here's what I discovered (This is what I wrote to the student):
Your software is AUTOCAD DESIGN SUITE Ultimate 2013 (Student Version)
Your LIMITS are correctly set to 0,0 and 12,9
GRID and SNAP are both set to .25
The problem:
1. The GRID does NOT display no matter what settings are chosen under the GRID command or within the Drafting Settings dialog box on the Grid and Snap tab.
2. The SNAP function does not create VERTICAL and HORIZONTAL lines.
(The SNAP function is not alignning with the X and Y axes.)
When I opened your latest drawing (9.1) and drew a 12 by 9 rectangle using coordinate input (L <enter> 0,0<enter> 12,0<enter> 12,9<enter> 0,9<enter> c<enter>), the resulting rectangle was a bit “off-SNAP”.
That shouldn’t happen.
I Googled “AUTOCAD GRID OFF” and any other combination I could think off.
Though I was able to read dozens of queries about various SNAP and GRID issues, NONE that I found addressed this issue.
I confirmed that SNAP was on and started the LINE command.
As I moved the mouse I watched the coordinates displayed next to the crosshairs.
As I “snapped” from point to point the coordinates SHOULD have always displayed increments of ¼ (.25, .75, 1.0, 1.25, etc) but they did NOT.
As I moved away from the origin (0,0) the ever-growing error could be seen in the coordinate display at the crosshairs.
It was as if the SNAP function was NOT following a “perfect” vertical/horizontal orientation as it moved.
To confirm that I drew a line using coordinates: 0,9 as the start point and 12,9 as the next point.
I restarted the line command and “picked” a start point guided by “snap” that was “close” to the first start point (It wasn’t perfectly on the first line’s start point due the anomaly mentioned in my first paragraph.) and then picked a second point that was “close” to the first line’s endpoint.
The 2 lines were not parallel.
The line drawn with SNAP to dictate its start and endpoints was simply not “horizontal”.
The “Y” coordinate of the start and end points on that line were slightly different.
Somehow the SNAP function was not “snapping” in alignment with the X and Y axes.
After experimenting with settings I found a solution.
But why the solution worked I DO NOT KNOW.
It isn’t “LOGICAL”.
As I typed the command SNAP I saw that command “suggestions” were displayed next to the crosshairs.
I selected these snap options one at a time and through this experimentation I stumbled onto the solution.
The command which “worked” was a command called SNAPANG. In 30 years of working in AutoCAD, both 2D and 3D, I have never used the command SNAPANG.
However, nothing ventured, nothing gained:
I typed the command SNAPANG <enter> then typed 1 <enter>.
Nothing changed.
I reentered the command SNAPANG and then entered the previous value 0 (zero) thinking that I was restoring it to its previous setting and suddenly the GRID appeared and the SNAP followed with perfect alignment with the GRID and in perfect alignment with the X and Y axes. As I entered the LINE command and watched the coordinates displayed at the crosshairs they were now in perfect increments of .25.
As I said initially, since the two command-driven settings that I entered should have simply reversed one another, I have gone into this great detail because I will send this on to AutoCAD’s support people and see if they have any comment. It must be a “bug” in the new version of AutoCAD.
I set a viewport to a perspective mode. I do this by starting 3DOrbit then right clicking and choosing perspective. Save, close, open and all perspecitve views are set to parallel projection.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am laying out a pressure sewer. I have defined an alignment and profile for the route. I want to show the utility crossings (electric, gas, water, etc.) in plan and profile. My thinking is to create a block and snap it to the crossing in plan view, drape it on EG and lower it by the assumed depth and then project the block to the profile view. I have this working. Now I need to label the plan view XING's with station and utility type and label the profile XING's with station, elevation and utility type. I could easily do this with station and profile labels, but as the desgin evolves, the alignment is subject to change and the crossings will need to be moved and updated. It would be nice to have the labels and symbols integrated into a single entity that updates when moved to the new location. Is there a way to do this with styles?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've installed the LM Tools license manager on a network server to distribute out floating license of AutoCAD 2010. The network license currently has 5 floating licenses for AutoCAD 2010. When I try and install the AutoCAD 2010 software on a client machine and go under "Install Tools and Utilities" I expect to see a choice for the Network License Activation Utility. Unfortunately all I get is the options to install the License Manager (LM Tools), CAD Manager Tools, and SAMreport-Lite. Nothing indicating an Activation Utility.
I may just be very oblivious but I'm not sure how to activate the program with the license server when I can't install the utility to do so. Am I missing a step somewhere? I have a feeling the answer is very obvious but I unfortunately can't see it. The SN and Product Key are entered correctly and should reflect the type of license(s) they are.
I am trying to export my license so i can work from home but the utility isn't working.
I always get that message:

Product: AutoCAD 2010

The number is the right one and it didn't create any error when installing...
Why does AutoDesk doesn't want me to work from home?
I have installed AutoCAD 2010 onto my laptop (Mac Book - VMware Fusion). All has installed ok
I exported my AutoCAD liscense from my work machine - again all fine. But on my laptop i dont have the License Transfer Utitlity to import it. I have performed a search and it finds my 3DMax LTU but not my Autocad one
I can't find the correct location to put the files from the scale list cleanup utility in 2012.
I know it's supposed to go in the default installation directory but it doesn't seem to be working in any folder for 64bit.
I've got a project that we made some changes to several of our Civil 3D styles. I'm trying to use the Manage/Import Civil 3D styles utility to update my template. It's not working. When the dialog comes up, it shows me what styles are new with a green plus sign next to it. It does not show me the items that are in conflict (changed). Once I process it, the new style does get added to my template but the modified styles did not come over.

I use AutoCAD 2010 and have never messed with MEP. Any way to convert those devices back to regular acad blocks.
We have a couple of seats of MEP and Revit just to test things out and see if we'd want to switch programs at some point, but otherwise we do everything on "regular" AutoCAD. Well, one guy went ahead and made changes to our sheets using MEP, and now it's causing compatibility issues. Ideally we'd like to fix that without having to redraw entire sheets or have to redefine our drawing standards mid-project.
I am using the stand alone utility for converting NEF to DNG
Will it combine the NEF & XMP together in the DNG using the utlity or does only lightroom do that?When I import pictures from a camera and have keywords attached to it, are they stores in the NEF or XMP? Eg If I were to add the pictures to a new catalog, would the same keywords be applied?
I work on big manual and automatic workstations, cells, and lines.
Before shrinkwrapping, my part count usually hits around 13,000-17,000 parts.
Using Publisher seems to be the best way to present our ideas to customers all across the world.
But we have run into limitations where the message on our i-pads read "Filetype too large" (or something along those lines).
I have successfuly published and uploaded my files, so whats happening?
Is it a matter of rendering 400,000 or so triangles as a max?
How I can reduce the size and make these files work?
Shrinkwrapping has no effect.
Someone mentioned a utility (maybe a ps plug-in?) that some guy made that will mass convert files from one type to another etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently came across a particularly magical piece of software located here for free. It allows 32-bit programs to address more than 2 GB of memory. It may only work for 64-bit systems though, not sure (i.e. those with CPUs that can work on 64-bit OSs).
I mention this because Xara sometimes crashes with out of memory errors, such as when making large panoramas or doing something else that consumes GBs of memory. By using this utility on the Xara exe to allow it to address more memory than normal, the crashes can stop. This also applies to any other memory intensive software that shows similar behaviour, and makes them much more stable.
The instructions for using the utility to modify exes is below:
MAKE SURE YOU DO A BACKUP COPY OF THE xtreme.exe FILE BEFORE CHANGING IT JUST IN CASE YOU GET INTO TROUBLE
open the program
goto file > open
then find the exe file... in this case it would be xtreme.exe in ./program files/xara/...
On the left side you'll see "NT HEADER".... "DOS HEADER"... etc Highlight "FILE HEADER" under "NT HEADER" On the right side you'll see a chart and in the bottom right corner you will see "CLICK HERE" Click on that and a check box menu system will open. Scroll down the menu list until you see "app can handle > than 2gig address space" and check that. Save the file and close.
I've reinstalled my OS (WindowsXP SP3) and installed 3ds Max 2012 again. It have run succesful. But it doesn't export license. While trying to export it says "Export Request Failed. The maximum number of exports for this serial number has been reached. You may not export more licenses than you have purchased. Error reference:36" It seems as my old licence is on server.

At stations where I have a template drop in my section editor, it is not representing what is really happening because it just is perpendicular to one alignment. Is there a way to develop a secondary alignment that will have my section editor show what will be parallel to both alignments.

I am drawing pipe and beams.
I use a variety of methods. Right now I just SNAP to the elipse, draw the lines at the angles and then hit the other elipse. Sometimes though the lines jump all around the elipse.
I'm trying to draw a line that is parallel to the one I've already drawn. It works fine (Osnap on) when I draw a whole new line and then draw a parallel line. But when I try to add a parallel extension to an old line, it doesn't work. The old line is located in another layer, but I tried to copy it to the same layer and it still doesn't work.

The situation is that I have an assembly that contains multiple parts (approx. 40) which all have contained "almost" the same code. In order to rationalize this; we have rearranged the code in such way that we now only reference External iLogic rules form these 40 part files (only one place to revise the code if necessary).
The side effect to this rationalization has been the we have problems in executing the codes in parallel, see this simplified example:

Now all of these 40 part files try to execute their code.

As they all are dependent upon running the same external rules the result is that not all part files are updated according to the required design requirements. It seem as if one of the part files calls the external rule and the rule is "busy" handling another part file it just terminates without warnings or errors.
Can multiple part files run the same external rule at the same time? Is there some form of queue? I do not get any warnings or errors, the partfiles just do not update. How can I make sure that all the part files run the external rules and is there a way of checking this?
This is probably a simple one that I am missing, but how do I get a parallel constraint applied to these two edges.
