It says it is calculated using negative integral, however i dont find this very informative.
I used the data for a report, and need to justify how i got the center of gravity and inertia properties.
A formula, method or algorithm would be nice.
I am wondering is there a command that can let me find the center of mass for a linear object.
In particular I need to find the center of mass for an arc.
How can see visually the center mass of a part or assembly?
When I'm checking in the Iprop., I see the center of gravity coordinates, but it there a way to "see" it (some visual representation)

We want to obtain the center of mass of two or more subassemblies within an assembly. How to do it? The subassemblies may or may not be connected to each other directly.

I have created a box 300x300x300 with the center of the box at 0,0,0 (for testing the cg) . The result I get is not 0,0,0 one of the values always comes out to be not zero, depending on the orientation of the box. Is this a bug?
Dim cg As Point3d = T.MassProperties.CentroidMsgBox(cg.X & vbCr & cg.Y & vbCr & cg.Z)
When I use the measure tool for the ruler an open centered cross is displayed - is there any way to make the size of the centre of the cross larger? this way i can get a more accurate measure of 2 points -
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the iProperties, in the Mass properties are the coordinates of the center of gravity. i guess they relate to the center point and axes in the main origin folder, right?
How can i show and measure from the genter of gravity symbol in parts and drawings?
I've been looking for a solution to remove the unit string ie Lbs, g, kg from the value given from a 'Mass' value in a text string.
As you may all know, creating text and having a 'physical property - mass' value...the unit string is there...
Lots of people on here have the problem...no-one has got a solution.
Until now...
Basically...open the part you need to get the mass property of in your text string.
Follow the instructions on this webpage...this is the first part...
[URL]
Basically, this creates a Mass property value in the parameters table that you can call on as a text parameter.
It's similar to the custom iproperty model - mass but NOT the same.
Once you have done this, you can go to the drawing of the part and create a text string in the drawing and call it up as shown in this procedure. BUT it still has the unit string.
Here's the best bit that you want to know...
To get RID of the unit string...open up the part again from the drawing...click on the parameter icon...find the user parameter...in the Nominal value column, right click on the value and you get a pop-up that gives you 3 options...
Custom Property Format, Make Multi Value & Delete Parameter.
Click on Custom Property Format.
The pop-up window comes up...showing you the property type...in my case...the 4 left columns read Text, g (grams), Format & Precision...
On the right hand side I have a Preview of the text...then 3 check boxes...Units string, Leading Zero's, Trailing Zero's.
Units string is checked.
Uncheck it.
Close it...Save your part...go back to the drawing and hey presto!...the text now shows the weight you require as a straight value...no units!
How R is calculated in the C3D?
I’m wondering regarding the equation used to calculate the radius of the circular curve. Is it the one attached? How the horizontal curve is updated as the design speed is changed?Ja

Will it combine the NEF & XMP together in the DNG using the utlity or does only lightroom do that? When I import pictures from a camera and have keywords attached to it, are they stores in the NEF or XMP? Eg If I were to add the pictures to a new catalog, would the same keywords be applied?

We usually run our own calculations for U Values using the BRE Calculator (UK Building Research Establishment).
I just carried out an experiment to check the value that appears in the Revit properties of a wall type (Heat Transfer Coefficient - U) for a given wall build up.
The result in Revit does not seem to correlate with the value that our calculator generates.
I have checked through the conductivity values for the materials (under thermal properties) - and using the exact same values the Revit generated figure is far more optimistic.
For a typical cavity wall construction:
Brick (102mm) @ 0.54 W/mK
Cavity/air gap (40mm)
Insulation (60mm) @ 0.020 W/mK
Block CME (100mm) @ 0.51 W/mK
Plaster (12..5mm) @ 0.51 W/mK
The value that appears in the Wall Properties Dialogue box (greyed out - so I assume it is a calculated value) is 0.1935 W/m2K
Our BRE calculation generates a figure of 0.268 W/m2K.
The insulation manufacturer claims around 0.25 W/m2K for the given wall build up.
how we could have such a discrepency ? All the conductivity values are correct for the materials used in the wall build up.
I am beginning to wonder whethe the value in the Wall Type isn't a U-Value, although the units are consistent with it (W/m2K)
Do I need to use the portable license utility to uninstall and then reinstall a single user AutoCAD LT 2009 permanently from one laptop to another? If so do I select "computers" then "remove"?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently came across a particularly magical piece of software located here for free. It allows 32-bit programs to address more than 2 GB of memory. It may only work for 64-bit systems though, not sure (i.e. those with CPUs that can work on 64-bit OSs).
I mention this because Xara sometimes crashes with out of memory errors, such as when making large panoramas or doing something else that consumes GBs of memory. By using this utility on the Xara exe to allow it to address more memory than normal, the crashes can stop. This also applies to any other memory intensive software that shows similar behaviour, and makes them much more stable.
The instructions for using the utility to modify exes is below:
MAKE SURE YOU DO A BACKUP COPY OF THE xtreme.exe FILE BEFORE CHANGING IT JUST IN CASE YOU GET INTO TROUBLE
open the program
goto file > open
then find the exe file... in this case it would be xtreme.exe in ./program files/xara/...
On the left side you'll see "NT HEADER".... "DOS HEADER"... etc Highlight "FILE HEADER" under "NT HEADER" On the right side you'll see a chart and in the bottom right corner you will see "CLICK HERE" Click on that and a check box menu system will open. Scroll down the menu list until you see "app can handle > than 2gig address space" and check that. Save the file and close.
I've reinstalled my OS (WindowsXP SP3) and installed 3ds Max 2012 again. It have run succesful. But it doesn't export license. While trying to export it says "Export Request Failed. The maximum number of exports for this serial number has been reached. You may not export more licenses than you have purchased. Error reference:36" It seems as my old licence is on server.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIn the attached file there is a User Parameter, "Antal_ledekasser". Inventor has calculated its value to 2.
If you do the math by hand then you see the value should be 5.
Rebuild doesn't force recalculation.
There is an iLogic rule in the part, but this also fails to force recalculation:
iLogicVb.UpdateWhenDone=True
InventorVb.DocumentUpdate()
ThisDoc.Document.Rebuild2
ThisDoc.Document.Update2
Manual work around is to change the formula, then the value is recalculated.
iLogic work around is to change a parameter-value - and run the rule TWICE.
Question: How do I force a real rebuild, that actually wil recalculate parameter-values the first time I run the iLogic rule?
Background: The attached file is a little subset of the skeleton in a large assembly that is controlled by iLogic. The rules are placed in the topassembly, and writes vaules to the skeleton-file.
After writing values to skeleton-parameters I try to force them through with this iLogic
RuleParametersOutput()
InventorVb.DocumentUpdate()
iLogicVb.RunRule("Skeleton", "Update")
Later in the process I use calculated values to decide which components should be active. But my logic fails because my decisions are made on faulty values.
I did manage to get the updating work in 2011. But after migrating to 2012, it seems impossible to have it update correct. The user has to run rules several times, and doing manually updates to get a correct model.
I am laying out a pressure sewer. I have defined an alignment and profile for the route. I want to show the utility crossings (electric, gas, water, etc.) in plan and profile. My thinking is to create a block and snap it to the crossing in plan view, drape it on EG and lower it by the assumed depth and then project the block to the profile view. I have this working. Now I need to label the plan view XING's with station and utility type and label the profile XING's with station, elevation and utility type. I could easily do this with station and profile labels, but as the desgin evolves, the alignment is subject to change and the crossings will need to be moved and updated. It would be nice to have the labels and symbols integrated into a single entity that updates when moved to the new location. Is there a way to do this with styles?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded and installed AutoCAD 2014 using one of our subscription licenses in order to review it before putting it on other machines (for the purpose of bug-checking and trying out new features). I also have a Map3D subscription license for which Autodesk offered me a free trial upgrade (for this subscription term) to Infrastructure Design Suite (IDS).
While going through the steps for installing IDS, I noticed that the IDS license includes a copy of AutoCAD. I cancelled it before installation and tried to use the LTU to export my current 2014 license. However, when I try to open the LTU, the Windows working icon spins for a bit then nothing happens. It works for my 2013 license but not 2014.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've installed the LM Tools license manager on a network server to distribute out floating license of AutoCAD 2010. The network license currently has 5 floating licenses for AutoCAD 2010. When I try and install the AutoCAD 2010 software on a client machine and go under "Install Tools and Utilities" I expect to see a choice for the Network License Activation Utility. Unfortunately all I get is the options to install the License Manager (LM Tools), CAD Manager Tools, and SAMreport-Lite. Nothing indicating an Activation Utility.
I may just be very oblivious but I'm not sure how to activate the program with the license server when I can't install the utility to do so. Am I missing a step somewhere? I have a feeling the answer is very obvious but I unfortunately can't see it. The SN and Product Key are entered correctly and should reflect the type of license(s) they are.
I am trying to export my license so i can work from home but the utility isn't working.
I always get that message:
License Export Confirmation
Product: AutoCAD 2010
Serial number: 351-XXXXXXX
Export Request Failed
The serial number you entered is not valid. Try again. (1)
Click the "Try Again" link to resubmit the request.
Try again
Error reference:1
The number is the right one and it didn't create any error when installing...
Why does AutoDesk doesn't want me to work from home?
Material takeoff: As paint and other related calculations
I’m wondering why no values where calculated for the field “Material: as paint”! As for the “area” and “volume” calculation, they sound to be false, for example, the area of plaster board should be 0.02*1.84 but not 0.32*1.84! What might be false there?
When i use Get Data node in ICE for get Object Velocity, it not calculated. In help specified that velocity calculation is automatic for ICE. With velocity calculation turned on in object properties on tab Global Transform - only acceleration is computed, velocity is zero.
