AutoCAD 2013 :: Landscaping Standards

May 11, 2013

I'm learning landscaping architecture standards for CAD. After being searching the web for awhile, I've not found standards layers but not the colors and linetypes associated with it.

Here is the AIA cad layer guidelines, but no layers color codes and linetype to those landscape standards?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Tool Palette And Text Style Standards

Jul 17, 2013

I am trying to set up a  standard text style converter for multiple companies (32 in all). All are using the same style names, but they change the fonts for their preferences.

What I am trying to do is come up with a tool pallete / tool bar macro to change all styles in a drawing to the new fonts they choose.

Here is my string: ^C^C-STYLE;TITLE-1;COMIC SANS MS;;;;;;;

What am I missing so the spaces in the font name are not read as ENTER in the command?  I have tried <font here>, 'font here', "font here", <font here>, (font here)

If there is an easier way other than copy and paste into a new template with them defined.

AutoCad :: Landscaping Block Library

Oct 13, 2011

I'm a landscape architecture student that is looking for ways to speed up productivity but I want to make sure that I'm doing things the right way. I'm working on creating a library of blocks of different categories(trees, shrubs, cars, people, etc) that I can setup in a separate autocad file. From there, I want to be able to use the Design Center or create tool palettes to easily insert my symbols.

I mostly work in Decimal Feet. I want to create my tree/plant blocks where the diameter=1 unit, so I can scale my plants based on the actual diameter of the trees.

I'm collecting different blocks from around the internet and organizing them into a single file. The problem is that they are all different units. When I try to insert symbols from the Design Center, I cannot get them to scale correctly. Most are already scaled to equal 1 unit but some are "radius=1 unit" and others are "diameter=1unit". Of course, I want to make everything consistent to "diameter=1 unit".

In my library base file, what do I need to set my units to?When creating a block, what do I need to set my block units to?Any other tips for creating a plant block library?

AutoCad :: Creating Drawing Standards

Sep 18, 2011

I am looking for the best ways to create a standard for all my architectural drawings namely I want to have layers set for columns, beams, wall, floor, roof, doors, windows ... to name but a few, also I want to set within the layer the object color, line type, line thickness and so on and if possible which object is on top and which is at the bottom.

Moreover, the walls can be 200mm or 150 mm thick, the columns are 200x200 or 150x150 and sometimes 150x200 and the slab is 125mm/150mm to name but a new of the possible configuration.

However, I don't want to follow an arbitrary naming, coloring or line type system. It will be best if I can follow a set standard (Example BS) that is recognized by architectural firms. Drawing Scales are usually 1:50, 1:75, 1:100 and 1:125 and on A4 paper.

Provide me with a standardized listing of architectural entities properties such as name, color, hatch and so forth. Also, what is the best procedure to follow in terms of LTSCALE with respect to layer settings.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Import And Use Drawing Standards?

Sep 27, 2012

I'm working on homogonizing all of our various templates, making all the new features from newer templates available in the older templates but I'm getting high centered on a step.

I've exported all of the different drawing standards and imported them all into each template which makes all of the upgraded dim styles available in all of the templates. The issue arrises when I save and close then reopen the template the imported standards are missing. It appears that under Manage, Styles Editor, if the standard is not in use it is not saved with the template. If this is the case how do I put them all "in use"? Even if I activate one of the imported standards, save, close, reopen, then activate a different standard and repeat, the imported standard is deleted.

Layers
Dimstyles
Textstyles

I'd like to add a plugin at our office to also check table styles, multileader styles, and possibly other things such as making sure our title blocks are at the proper location, or that nothing is drawn on the layer 0 (unless in a block).

AutoCAD LT :: Polyline Thickness - Line Weight Standards

Dec 21, 2002

I've been working on a floor plan after which I wanted to mark the border of a particular area. So, I drew a polyline surrounding the space and used a 2 (inch?) lineweight. It appeared on my screen to be very thick so that was great. The problem is I can't seem to draw any other polyline without seeing this big thick line on my screen - even if the linewieght is set to something thinner. It still "shows up" huge. It's like my viewing setting is frozen to only show polylines real big.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Setting Standards In Styles Library

Jun 13, 2012

We have three divisions in my company.  Each division uses a different set of drawing templates.

With all of that said, in my division we are trying to setup a certain said standard that was copied from the out of the box standard ANSI one as a starting point.  We were hoping to have this standard reside only in our drawing templates, but the way the styles is handling it, it would appear that this standard has to be updated/added to the global styles library.

Is this a true statement that this has to be a global styles update or is there a way to have a said standard be the default setting within just certain drawing templates without being seen or affecting other drawing templates?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Standards Checker - Annotative Dimstyle

May 19, 2011

I am having problems getting the CAD Standards Checker - Dimstyle plug-in to correctly recognize Annotative dimstyles.

I should point out that this error occurs in both AutoCAD 2011, and AutoCAD 2012 (which these screen shots are from)

My DWS file is correctly configured to have the dimstyle set to be annotative:

Then, I save this file to be a DWT file for our company's standard drawing template.

However, when I configure standards and add the DWS file to the DWT file ...even though the files are identical... I run the standards checker and get this!

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is the CAD Standards Checker not properly recongizing the Annotative Dimension Style?

System specs:

AutoCAD Inventor :: Create New Dimensioning Styles For Company To Use As Standards

Jan 25, 2012

I'm using Inventor 2010.

I've been told to create new dimensioning styles for the company to use as standards when making a drawing. One thing mentioned in particular was the inclusion of 0 inches in architectural drawings.

For example: say a part is 14 feet, 1/2 inches long. Inventor shows this: 14' - 1/2" , but they want this: 14' - 0 1/2" . They've had a problem before with the 1/2 being printed strangely, and the machinist thought it said 1 1/2.

They say that including the 0 is standard, and I need to make it happen.?

Photoshop :: Adding EXIF Standards Back Into JPG File

Sep 20, 2012

I'm trying to get photos (JPG files) I've edited in Photoshop and placed on an SD card to display on a Panasonic plasma television (TC-P42X1). The televison will only recognize JPG files with DCF or EXIF standards in tact. I'm assuming photos taken with a digital camera (unedited) already build in these stanards, as those photos view just fine. I'm also assuming that Photoshop strips the JPG file of these standards since the error I'm getting is "Cannot Read" with edited images.

Of course Panasonic says, "It's an Adobe issue." Adobe would probably tell me "It's a Panasonic issue." Using Photoshop, I've opened an image, gone to File/File Info (given the photo a description), selected "OK" and saved the image as a JPG file (did not use the "Save for Web" path). This has gotten me a step closer. Now I can see a thumbnail image on the television when in menu view, but it still says, "Cannon Read" when trying to view the images with the slide show option. What is the trick is using Photoshop to correct this issue? I'm open to other options as well.

Edge Animate CC :: Make Output Compatible With Advertising Standards?

Feb 19, 2014

I'm looking into Adobe Edge as a potential new tool for creating web-banners for advertising. I'm more of a designer than a coder, but i have some experience coding in Action Script (flash).

The challenge for me is generating a project that complies with the strict advertising standards found here: [URL]

I have listed the points that worry me the most here:

The HTML-file should just be one file with all CSS required for the ad inline in the HTML. Animation prior to a user interaction must be written using CSS3 Transitions, Transforms and/or Animation [URL]

The first example is just the raw export of a project with a few simple (and quite ugly) animations. I'm assuming that this is incompatible with the demands listed above. [URL]

In the next example I've created a project where I've put a "stop" action on the first frame and an "onClick" > "sym.play("rotate");" action on the image. "rotate" is a refferance to a frame label later in the same timeline (Click the image to start the (even more ugly) animation created in the Edge timeline). Then i wrote some CSS-animations directly in the auto-generated HTML-file. Will this be enough to get me around the requirement of "no javascript animations prior to user interaction"? [URL]

The thing is that i would prefer a workflow where i can do as much as possible within Edge Animate, but if the second example above is in compliance with the requirements, then that's not so bad. Guess i can learn some CSS.

Some thoughts/questions: Is it possible that Edge outputs some CSS animations embedded in .js files, and would the people/systems where the advertising is hosted recognise the animations as one type or the other? If so: Can you restrict Edge Animate to use only css animations or is there a way to know what is "safe" (CSS) to use before user interaction and what is not (JavaScript)?

Photoshop :: Creating A Color Table For Print, Color Standards

Mar 20, 2007

I was wondering what is the best way to save a photoshop file such as a business card or stationary labels so they "KEEP" their color you see on screen.

I am already building in CMYK mode. My Client has a nice gray scale scheme but I am worried that the print shop will mess up the colors.

How do I create a custom set of colors and adhere to that scheme throughout the clients stationary and media.
ie. Cards, Labels, Signs, etc.

Is there an option to print a color scale along with the image, sorta like when you calibrate your printer?

HPDRAWORDER = 1 seems to work with a new hatch.. but i can't redraw everything.

Let's say i put an entire floor plan into block then draw over it. (I don't want to start a Xref discussion please) i can't send the entire bloc to the back.I used to do that with 2012, 2008, 2007.. but it's 2013 it's not working, is there a way to correct that?

The error message asks [yes] to recover and it aborts or [no] to continue and the drawing opens ok without further error. If I recover the drawings, and save-as 2013 or other, the same errors appear regardless. However if I open the same drawings using my version of 2009, I didn’t get any errors. At first I created the Patterns subdirectory where it could not be done automatically.  No luck. Then I placed the Patterns subdirectory in C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamiongAutodesk|AutoCAD 2014R19.1enuSupportPatterns and no luck.
