AutoCAD 2013 :: Editing 3D Walls And Blocks?
Jul 11, 2012I was working in a drawing when I had a Fatal Error. When I brought Acad back up I have lost my editing capabilities for my 3D walls and blocks.

AutoCad 2D :: Change Some Setting For Editing Blocks In 2013?
Aug 24, 2012I am wanted to change some setting for editing blocks in 2013. I want to edit the block in place by just double clicking onto it. I can go through the properties and click on "edit in place" but I would like to eliminate that step.

May 3, 2013Editing attributed blocks causes them to disappear from the screen. Edits include changing attribute values, moving attributes, or moving the entire block. The block is not gone, so saving and re-opening the drawing will display it again, but this is a terrible workaround when moving and editing many blocks in a large drawing.
We do not use annotative or dynamic blocks, so these are just good old-fashioned attributed blocks.This behaviour is being seen on both Windows 7 and older Windows XP systems with various hardware specs, and it is only in the 2013 product. We still have some stations running Map 2012 that do not experience this issue even when working in the same drawings.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Block Editor Visibility State - Editing Old Blocks
May 28, 2012I installed Autocad 2013 a few weeks ago and I have a lot of blocks made with earlier versions (2008, 2012, etc...) that I need to use. When I try to edit such a block, block editor gives me trouble with visibility states. I can't select visibility states, and when I can, the changes made to that state don't follow and often the program reverts back to the first visibility state for no reason. This is getting to be extremely annoying and I'm thinking of going back to 2012 because of this. Is there a patch or some way to correct this?

Jan 16, 2013I think I'm pretty close to understanding how to get realistic interior lighting with nice soft shadows etc. However, I can't figure out how to get the sun & sky background to stop putting all these spots on my walls!
I previously made a version using 1000 "rays" for "Final Gather" and it looks a bit better....but it's still spotty.
How to get genuine soft shadows sans spots from the sun & sky background?
I've played with every parameter I can think of, but nothing smooths out the spots even a little bit.

Mar 1, 2013I have an assignment to draw a bathroom. I have walls that are spaced 3 5/8 inches apart and the drawing shows insulation batting between them. When I use the batting insulation linetype and run a line between the walls the batting symbol extends beyond the 3 5/8 inch walls. how do I get it to fit between?

Jul 23, 2013I cannot seem to find out when and where it's ocuring. I took measurements of a large room and modeled it in Autocad 2014. The solids I used are rather simple, mostly just boxes with some boolean unions and substractions here and there. I then took pictures of every wall, perspective-corrected them, imported each of them to Autocad as material, assigned the real size to the picture material and applied those materials to the corresponding wall faces. Planar mapping proved to be adequate in all cases and mostly mapped correctly on the first go.
The project was completed and saved. To my horror most of the material mappings had just gone the next time I opened the project. It was just as if I had never applied any material mapping or texture to the faces.
After partially appliying the damned material mappings and materials (textures) again I tried to determine under what circumstances the mappings get lost. Its not allways the same walls. The bug seems to occur randomly on various geometry and at various times. Sometimes the mappings get lost after opening the project, sometimes the get lost on the fly when isolating (hiding) geometry. There is no way I can get the room to look as I want it to look as there will allways be some wall that has become default-grey again, randomly (either while working or after opening up the project again).
I really expect Autocad to be rock solid after so many program versions. Did I do something wrong? How would you go about applying textures of inividual walls to wall-faces? Or is Autocad just crap regarding heavy use of textures because that is not the average use-case?
AutoCad 2D :: Bedit Command Not Editing Blocks?
Oct 24, 2013I have a block that we use often (it's a connector block), and I have already completed the Single Lines with said block. Now the client wants an additional piece of information that I would need to add as an additional attribute to this block.
This block is dynamic, with a visibility and a flip parameter, and two attributes, Line# and Cable/Panel.
I'm going into BEDIT for the block, adding an attribute, and deleting the Cable/Panel Attribute to make room for the new att. When I exit out of the Block Editor, the new attribute doesn't exist, and the Cable/Panel attribute is still there. What's really weird is that the Cable/Panel att used to be in the flip parameter, and now it's not. It stays when you flip the block.

AutoCad :: Duplicate Objects Due To Editing Blocks?
Jul 27, 2011I have a site plan from another .dwg that I copied with base point and inserted into my .dwg as a block. To edit this block in my .dwg I Rt. Click-Edit Block in Place, then use the Refedit Toolbar to save my changes. It seems each time I edit the block the linework, circles, etc. are duplicated; resulting in several duplicate objects stacked on top of each other within my block. I exploded the block, used the drawing cleanup tool and it found 37,000+ duplicate objects to delete! This happened before in another .dwg. I am running AutoCAD Civil3D Land Desktop Companion 2009, I also have an EaglePoint plug-in that we use to download our data.

Aug 2, 2013I am designing a solar field and have my solar panels laid out in a grid. I have each panel represented as a block with 4 attributes: Column, Row, Module Type, and Combiner Box. There are ~5,000 panels so it will take forever to modify the attributes of each block individually. Is there a way I can select multiple blocks (an entire column for instance) and set the "Column" attribute for ALL of those blocks to the appropriate value?
My end goal is to be able to export the information in those blocks to excel. So if there is any way to tie 4 pieces of information to an object and export it into excel not using block attributes, that would work for me as well.
I attempted to use Lee Mac's Batch Attribute Editor BAtteV1-4.lsp and it was very close to what I needed. But it will modify the specified attribute of all blocks within a drawing, whereas I only want to modify the attributes of all blocks within a selection.

Jul 14, 2012We recently updated all of our software at my company from 2010 architectural desktop to 2013 autocad. We do a lot of architectural work where we use the "wall" functions to draw our floorplans. I have noticed that the walls are disappearing on some files and not on others. Or we will only be able to see the outside line of the wall, but not the interior, which results in an undesirable appearance to the floorplans.
I have also run across these error messages when opening the files, I dont know if they are related or not:
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address E43AA180h"
and
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address D41218AEh"
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: When Copying Or Editing Dynamic Blocks Drawing Disappears
May 24, 2012Drawing disappear after using a dynamic block's stretch parameter?
I’ve made fairly simple dynamic blocks with lines or leaders that can be stretched and some attribute text. After moving the stretch grip of the block the block will disappear. If I then do a regen the entire drawing disappears. But it seems to be only a graphical glitch based on the fact that I can then save the disappeared drawing, reopen it and everything is up to date. I can even see my devious little dynamic blocks. But of course if I try to edit them everything will disappear again.

May 2, 2013I'm working in AutoCAD 2010 and I would like to make the process of creating 2D documentation easier and faster for myself and my collegues, but during the process I've hit a dead end.
I would like to use fiedds (or something simillar) to partly automate the creation of 2D documentation. We have sheets organized in a specific way and I would like to create a custom field for each of the categories (eg. drawing number, number of parts, designer...) that could be edited easily like the parameters or object properties can. Basically what I would like to do is create custom fields or some other object that can be edited from a list in AutoCAD and then automatically refreshed in text boxes. Is there a possibility to do something like that using fields or perhaps a different solution?
Revit :: Turn Mass Walls Into Structural Walls
May 28, 2013I want to turn my in-place mass walls (sloped or helical) to structural walls but i don't know how to do it. I'm able to do the walls but when i switch it to the analytical view the wall doesn't appear because it's not structural. It's there a way to do in-place mass structural walls.

Nov 26, 2013I'm new to AutoCAD, and especially new to AutoCAD Map 3D. I need to make a plat showing a well location. When using Petra or DrillingInfo, a map can be printed to a DXF. DrillingInfo puts out a DXF with just the 0 layer, and the well spots come in as polyline circles. The DXF Petra puts out opens with different layers and symbology, which I like. It's just that the well spots are blocks, which I do not understand. When I open the Petra map with AutoCAD Map 3D, my well spots are unitless block references, and are tiny specks. I need to resize them so they can be seen.

Dec 12, 2013Is there anyway to be able to edit a PDF document while the drawing it's referenced in is open?I would have thought that a PDF underlay would have worked in the same manner as an external reference does.
We use crystal reports to create reports from the drawing, export to PDF and insert back into the drawing.Then when items are released for ordering and received the PDF is stamped as such and the underlay reflects that progress in the drawing.
But if a user has the drawing open the PDF is locked for editing.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Multileader Block Editing
May 2, 2013I have some new multi leader definitions using blocks, however I can only edit the attribute definition text individually, where if I had the same block as a standalone with a leader I could select as many blocks as I wanted and change the text via quick properties in one quick step. Is there a way to achieve this using a block as a base for a multileader?

Oct 4, 2013I want to edit the default arrowhead. I know how to create custom-arrows, etc. but I want the versitility of having arrow heads on many layers, not the zero layer or any other layer that the arrow block-definition is on; and I do not want to use the pointed arrow.
Where may I edit the arrow, or substitute my own; and in what format is it in?
