I'm trying to modify a surface I built from drill hole data of a cavern by deleting unwanted triangles from it. Everytime I select the delete lines command it tells me I need to have the triangles displayed for the surface, and they are displayed.

I'm trying to modify a surface I created using drill hole data of a cavern. When I select the delete lines command for surface editing a message pops up telling me that I must have the triangles displayed in the surface style dialog. But I do have the triangles displayed, and it still gives me the same message.

How to arrange them so that I get an triangle. I could draw 3 lines and then start rotating them till I get satisfactory result but can this be done any quicker?
I am trying to loft a triangle around the path of a helix. I want the top point of the triangle to be facing in such that the ouside surface is flat (in the veritcal direction) for the entire helix and I have the two triangle cross sections oriented to do as much. Whenever I try loft it, autocad associates sides of the triangle that aren't supposed to connect causing the triangle to twist along the path. Is there a way that I can easily tell autocad which sides I want to connect?

When i use the quick selection or magic wand i can only A) Get the outside shape and inside triangle, or B) Get all but one of the shapes. The triangle is made up of 3 L looking shapes. I want to make a path, put it into Cinema4D , and then be able to color it so i can THEN, put it into an After Effects video.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo when I create a triangle by using the star shape tool and only giving it three points. When I have my triangle, I duplicate it and make it smaller. I center them both up on the canvas, but they don't look centered. As you can see in the picture provided, the bottom has more of a width that the others. I've tried using the alignment tool and the smart guides. I do resize the triangle using shift so it doesn't mess up the shape too.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI just updated my computer with the latest and greatest parts and was excited to open Revit 2013 and try it out. I installed it last night and tried to open it. The splash screen appears for a second and then closes. On the first try, a yellow triangle with an exclamation popped up, it hasn't happened since. I fixed the registry with MS fix it, uninstalled it, and reinstalled it.
I read that it was not compatible with hyperthreading 8 core CPUs. I don't think this is the issue, because I do not have a 8 core CPU. I have a i7 3.5 Quad Core with Hyperthreading, 16 gigs RAM, 1 gig Graphics Card, and a Solid State Drive.
Deleting ONE of the constrains (not all), I wanted to delete one of constrains but sound that the available commands delete all constrains!
How might I be able to delete juts one of the constrains?
Is there a way (script file) to delete page setups from a lot of sheets all at once.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAt first I thought it was user error, but its happening while I'm editing the sheet set.
As I'm numbering the sheets, it gets stuck and won't allow me to advance to the next sheet. Next thing I know the sheet is greyed out and then the DWG file disappears from the foolder. Different sheet sets, different jobs, different drives on the network.
In using 2013 I noticed when I delete a feature line which is added to a surface as a breakline it does not delete it from the surface. Even after a rebuild the surface does not update. I am having to go into the toolspace and manually delete the breaklines from the surface list.

I have some topo drawings (contours with Z elevations) and am trying to create lines representing where we did our field work. I then want to extract X, Y & Z coordinates of points along those lines (either where they cross the contour lines or at regular intervals along the lines that I create). I can create surface(s) of the topo that I have, but my questions are what kind of lines would be the best to use to represent our lines of field work (3D poly lines, feature lines, or alignments) and once I get those laid in, how do I extract the XYZ info into a text format of some kind (excel, csv, etc.)?

Initially i thought it is already a surface for C3D but i cant seem to follow tutorials. While browsing for solutions from the Internet, it seems it is not even a contour file that can be added in C3D. what is this file and how i can convert it into a surface in C3D?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I've been creating a building and I can't seem to get rid of (or hide) the lines that make up the edges of my surfaces (or solid) in the animation view. Is this typical?
For instance, I have one side of the building that is using 4 different textures all on the same plane and they butt up to one another (example: brick meets siding). Where these two surfaces meet the lines that makes up the edges of the surface won't go away. Thus always showing white line showing the boundaries o the individual surfaces.
Can I turn these off, hide them, or am I being a total 3D Modeling noob and missing something basic?
I've been trying to lay a mesh on top of some contour lines. I've also tried the loft command, but with little success.
I've tried several terrain plugins, but they all seem to malfunction because I have overlapping contours. Here is the dwg, what I'm trying to make.
I'd like to be able to create a surface or mesh from contour lines to give a better 3D representation of terrain than just contour lines. "Drape" seems to be the tool ACA, but I'm wondering if AutoCAD can do something similar. LOFT sorta works, but even then, I have to do it in sections, and I'm not really looking for a solid.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI created a surface in 2013 for an old project by importing a TIN from LDD, which worked fine, but the survey crew recently went back to the same site and did an update (asbuilt) with updated elevations. A good portion of the survey is still accurate and has not changed, but there was an area of new construction. My question is what is the best way to remove the old TIN lines (that are actually still connecting some old, incorrect survey points) and incorporate the new elevations that will now reflect new TIN lines in certain areas. Basically, I need to get rid of some old TIN lines and replace with new and updated survey. The surface in LDD used a point group, which was fine then, but now some of those points in that point group are incorrect.

Now, for set out, and especially for smaller contractors who don't have fancy survey gear, it would be really nice to be able to show design surface levels in section bands BUT ONLY AT THE SURFACE-DEFINING FEATURE LINE LOCATIONS.
I am aware that we can use grade breaks...but this gives us band data at each triangle intercept which is too much data. We can weed this data, but that is indiscriminate and I really need only the data at the surface-defining geometry points (feature line locations.)
We can also use station/elevation labels on the section views but this is time-consuming and non-dynamic. Band labels are dynamic and more or less automatic...if only we could get the discrete locations we need labelled.
So I received a whole bunch of contours from an architect. They are lines and arc. big sweeping arcs. Whats the best and fastest way to create a good surface. I can change them globally to a polyline but I need to add vertices like every 5 or 10 feet to get a good surface. Can I select multiple feature lines (after converted) to add vertices?

I am using C3D 2009.
I need to create points with surface elevations along sample lines. The points need to represent the verticies one would see in the section editor. I've attached an image of my section editor for one of my sample lines. I need to create points that represent these 24 verticies along this sample line and do so for the rest of my sample lines as well. Is there an automated process to create these points?
