AutoCAD 2010 :: Ribbon Jumps To Hatch Settings
May 2, 2012When I select a hatch in my dwg, the ribbon jumps to the hatch settings. Is there a way to make that just stay on the home tab?

View 2 RepliesI was attempting to hatch a simple closed polyline when all of sudden AutoCad had to pull a stunt and give me the FATAL ERROR shut down. When I recovered my drawing, it automatically launched the hatch creation window..just as i left it. However, nothing works. I can't hatch anything, and I can't close the hatch editor ribbon. If i try to select an area to hatch, it lets me select it, but then glitches out and asks me for a base point to move something. I've tried everything, DPLGMODE set to 1, save as, close, shut down, etc..
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have Inventor Series 2011 and regarding my AutoCAD Mechanical 2011 have it updated to Version 3 (Product Version: E.208.0.0).
I am trying to work on some drawing in my AutoCAD and all the sudden the Hatch Creation Ribbon has decide it is going to rule the day. All day, and likely tomorrow too. I am not working on any hatches but why it has popped up. And it WILL NOT CLOSE! If I select the “Close Hatch Creation” panel button on the ribbon, it simply executes the last command that was ran. So, I figure I just close down the drawing and close then restart AutoCAD and I should be good to go. Nope. Reboot the computer. Nope. Soon as I fire AutoCAD back up and open any of my drawings.
I was working on a drawing file when my ribbon went haywire. My layer drop down seems frozen so it only shows the current layer and the hatch edit ribbon does not function properly.
The issue with the layer drop down is if I select a line, fill, etc. on any layer the layer drop down on the home ribbon does not change to show the layer that item is on and if I select multiple items on different layers which usually causes the drop down to go blank it still shows the current layer. The object color, line thickness and linetype all change on the properties tab to show the properties of the selected item so the entire home ribbon is not frozen. If I scroll through the layer drop down and select a layer to move the selected item to a new layer AutoCAD responds *Invalid selection* Expects a point or Window/Last/Crossing/BOX/All/Fence . . .
The hatch edit ribbon is completely useless. The angle and scale boxes are greyed out and if I select any of the buttons (Set Origin, change hatch pattern, etc.) AutoCAD again responds with *Invalid selection* . . .
The only CUI shown is the ACAD.CUIX and I have done a Reset and Restore, changed the workspace, restarted AutoCAD and restarted my computer. What am I missing?
AutoCAD 2011with current patches

My cursor jumps every time when I single click on to hatch or use the hatch command it also does the same with text.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWith osnap on endpoint only, no other dynamic inputs on, no polar, 3dobject snap dynamic input, grid or snap on.
The cursor looks like it jumps up form the endpoint but actually it moves in the same Z as the osnap. Also when i zoom in i can't move my cursor to the upper or lower part of the screen depending on where I zoom too. If I turn magnet off it seems better but still not correct. In the drawing I uploaded I can't move the cursor up to the entities. If I open a new drawing everything works, on a different drawing everything works. If I insert this into a new file I get the problems back.
It is no more possible open Hatch Edit dialog with double click on existing hatch. Now, this way opens only Properties
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to access a hatch pattern from the Hatch Creation Ribbon Contextual Tab, C3D stops working and I have to force the program to quit. I've tried repairing the installation, which didn't work. I've also compeltely uninstalled and then reinstllaed the program, and have applied the Service Pack 1 update, but the problem persists.
However, accessing a hatch pattern after using the "Hatch" command from the command does seem to work.
Was working on a drawing, then poof, they're gone. How do I turn them back on?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am working with a client who upgraded to 2013 and their profile settings have disappeared. They also are not able to open hatch patterns that have been copied to the default folder, which is added to the support files search path.
I am not a CAD user or expert with the application, but am required to provide IT support for a client that uses the product.
Steps to recover the old profile settings and save the hatch patterns so they are available each time the application is opened?
How the actual file location of a drawing can be shown on the ribbon insert of just the file names. For example, file name BOM.dwg is located in C:custom---. Currently, the tool bar is showing AutoCAD BOM. dwg but I want it to show AutoCAD C:custom---.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't use MLINE much (and thought the command was DLINE) and wanted to draw 2 parallel lines. I found I could type MLINE and do what I want.
I'm trying to get used to the Ribbon and wanted to find it there, but after several minutes wasted looking all over the Ribbon, I never found it. The Help showed the ICON of 2 parallel diagonal lines but I can't find it anywhere.
Everytime I try to attach a Hyperlink to a dwg via the ribbon Hyperlink button I receive a FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Exception at e1e7b028h.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to incorporate my menus and toolbars into the ribbon environment. I skipped acad 09 so this hasn't been fun. I used the transfer feature in the cui environment to get everything I wanted. I go to 2d environment to check that everything is there and it appears to be there. I load my cui and I get my icons and menus but no ribbon. I have a big message that says, "The Ribbon does not have any tabs or panels currently loaded." I type ribbon to load, but nothing.
I've now messed with this enough that even with the base acad.cuix file I still don't have the ribbons.
How do I add the ribbon to 2010? I just have pull downs and tool bars.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI used to have my ribbon and commandline next to each other but now whenever I try and put them back next to each other it always ends up with one on top or one on the bottom. I added a picture to try and explain this!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI rearranged the order of the panels of the "Home" tab to suit the way I like them to be. When i come in for work and open AutoCAD for the first time, or even if I need to shut it down and open it back up, not only does AutoCAD not start in my profile, but when I do set my profile to current, all of the panels rearrange themselves into default location. I even went into the 'Tools> Customize> Interface' menu to change the order the panels are set in there, but it still doesn't work. Everyday, I need to manually change their locations.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI work at a place where we use autocad, everywhere... And I'm in IT and i've been struggling with this for a day now. I got 2009/2011 to work, but when i try to get 2010 to work, it just doesnt want to cooperate. Now when i used to start it up a proxy graphics thing would pop up, and i figured out how to turn that off, but then no ribbon loads.
So i go to the command line and type in ribbon, and i get an error:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in a component, in your application. if you continue, the app will ignore this error and attempt to continue. Object reference not set to an instance of an object" and here are the details..See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Is there a way to Put / Tranfer Pull Down menus on the Ribbon?
Am I overlooking something simple?
AutoCAD 2012 / Inventor 2012
I'm old school trying to learn new school! I love using my custom toolbars and abbreviations from the keyboard for calling my autocad commands. I am in the process of learning the uses of the ribbon. I have always used the acad menu, then loaded "partial" custom menus. Is this still possible using the ribbon? Not sure how to do this. I like keeping the custom stuff separate, because we have 5 users with a standard company menu and I like the idea of always going back to the original menu. I suppose my question is how do I use the ribbon, and continue to use my partials also

View 8 Replies View RelatedFor the last few weeks my copy of C3d 2012 has had what appear to be chinese characters pm all tooltips. This started after a network change here which resulted in everyone gaining a new user account on their PC.
I copied over all my old settings.I have tried adding font packs from the installation disk.I tried repairing from the installation disk.
Makes no difference; it's still Chinese (or what appears to be Chinese anyway). how to get this program back into English or is a reinstallation the only answer?
After reading a thread that seems related I also tried changing the windows advanced appearance options for tooltip fonts.Didn't have any effect.
When creating Mtext, I can't figure out how to specify a given height using the ribbon. Clicking on the "A" on the "Home" tab brings up the "Text Editor" ribbon and displays the Mtext editor in the drawing area. On the "Style" panel of the Text Editor ribbon is a drop-down box with a default height of 1/8". Clicking on this drop-down box gives the list, 1/8", 1/4", 1'-6", 1/8", and 3/16". It appears those are my only choices, but I need to make Mtext that is 1'-0" high. If I try to highlight the size selected in the drop-down box and type in 1'-0", AutoCAD erases my typing, replacing it with the 1'-6" choice (or some other member of the preset list). It does this whether or not I have typed text in the Mtext editor, highlighted that text, etc.
If I hover the mouse over the drop-down box, a tooltip comes up that says "Ribbon Combo Box - Text Height / Press F1 for more help." Pressing F1 brings up the Autodesk Exchange window which is blank except for a spinning wheel animation in the center that never stops. The promised "help" never appears.
Right now my only workaround is to create Mtext using one of the heights that AutoCAD has chosen to make available, then select it and change its height using the Properties palette, which may or may not be so easy depending on whether the height I need is very different from the height I was forced to use and the zoom factor of my view (the created mtext might show up as an almost invisible dot, forcing me to play "Where's Waldo" to select it). This is an almost unusable kluge. How can I set the size when creating the Mtext, not afterwards? How is the list of sizes available in the drop-down box determined?
My ribbon disappear along with my tool bars and all.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having an issues that I am unable to change the properties of a selected object using the tools located within the ribbon. Instead I need to go through the properties popout to change them.
for instance, I seclect a line and want to change the layer from A-wall to A-door. I try to change it using the drop down layers located within the ribbon, but it does not change. however If I do the same only though the properties popout window I can change it.
Is there toggle that I accedently switched?
