AutoCAD 2010 :: Chinese Characters On Tooltips And Ribbon
Apr 17, 2012
For the last few weeks my copy of C3d 2012 has had what appear to be chinese characters pm all tooltips. This started after a network change here which resulted in everyone gaining a new user account on their PC.
I copied over all my old settings.I have tried adding font packs from the installation disk.I tried repairing from the installation disk.
Makes no difference; it's still Chinese (or what appears to be Chinese anyway). how to get this program back into English or is a reinstallation the only answer?
After reading a thread that seems related I also tried changing the windows advanced appearance options for tooltip fonts.Didn't have any effect.
Ever since I got back to my desk after theEaster break I have had an odd problem witj C3d 2012.
The pop up names of the buttons along the bottom (snap, grid, osnap etc) are apparently now in Chinese. Tool tips for other tools are also containing a mixture f what appears to be Chines plus corrupted characters.
I am trying to add Chinese characters along with my English notes. I had someone translate into Chinese characters, but when I try to paste the characters into my text, they all change to ? marks.
We want to deliver a language independend CUIX-File and translate the UI at runtime after loading the CUIX like this:
foreach (RibbonTab tab in ComponentManager.Ribbon.Tabs) { foreach (RibbonPanel panel in tab.Panels) { foreach (RibbonItem item in panel.Source.Items) { TransRibbonItem(item); } } }
TransRibbonItem(item)should translate the Item text displayed in the UI as well as the tooltip text. I found a good way to translate RibbonItem texts. But the only solution I found to translate tooltips is the approach that Kean Walmsley posted in his blog here and here.
This solution has some drawbacks: It uses Autodesk.Internal.Windows.ToolTip, which Kean rates as "risky". It can not be used in my TransRibbonItem(item) function because it uses an ToolTipOpened event-handler that modifies a tooltip just when it is created.I found that this mechanism does not work very well in AutoCAD 2014: When a tooltip is created the first time, the handler is called before it is completely initialized. The posted solution reloads the tooltip in this case - which leads to a delay and display flash.
I have Polish version of Autodesk Inventor 2013 Profesional. Tooltips display ribbons to me in English. How do I set to display them in the Polish language?
I have some legacy custom .DCL files that we want to convert the user interfaces (text boxes, labels, etc) to Chinese characters. Is that even possible in .DCL?
I have gotten our NET and VBA apps converted but not having much luck with the DCL files.
On a Chinese computer with Windows XP, the layout name via ActiveX is displayed correctly "A3 -布局-02" on the variable laynam.
But under Windows 7 64 Bit I get this "A3 -??-02". So all ActiveX objects with AutoLisp commands do not transfer the Chinese Unicode characters, also on a system in china.
But the pure lisp command (layoutlist) for example returns always the correct characters ("A3 -布局-02")
Do I need any Chinese dll’s for ActiveX dependent language? On my test PC I installed the file autocad_2013_traditional_chinese_language_pack_win_64bit in the hope I get shared files for ActiveX but this did not bring success.
I have been having the following happen in a number of my drawings for the last two weeks. Whenever I wblock anything, I get the follwing characters added to the message:
Command: w WBLOCK 1 found 䵘䱆䉉㨠㜠䤠癮污摩洠獥慳敧渠浵敢㤴㐺 桰皺Couldn't find the message 4 in msg database 49 䵘䱆䉉㨠㜠䤠癮污摩洠獥慳敧渠浵敢㤴㌺ Couldn't find the message 3 in msg database 49
It doesn't seem to affect anything in the wblocked drawing or in the original drawing.

i have a long lag whenever I switch from typing english text to chinese characters, and vice versa.
For example, I have two text object: One with english text, another one with a chinese text. Let's say I am currently selecting an english text, can move, can edit.
But when I select chinese text, there's a long lag, like 10-20 seconds of lag before I can move chinese text. By editing the chinese text, there's another long set of lag.
Then, it is smooth to move the chinese text. But, when I select the english text again, there's another set of lag. It's like the program trying to search for something on the background.
This has nothing to do with font types, as they switch pretty easily, but there is a lag when switching between an english font type and a chinese font type.
I need to open a 4 page PDF that was originally created in word in Simplified Chinese. But when I open the PDF in Illustrator with Simplified Chinese open, some of the characters change. My client in the past has had success outlining the chinese before she sends. But it is no longer working for some reason. How can I match what I see on the PDF without having to convert it to a rastered image.?
I am using CorelDRAW 12 with Windows XP. I would like to type Chinese Characters. 1 specific word can't be shown correctly in CorelDRAW 12. It's "焗" and its read as "Ju" in Chinese. I was going to Text > Encode and check whether the word can be shown or not. In fact, in Encode Dialogue I can see the character well, but when I click "OK" and I can't see it. I get only the rectangle or nothing instead.
So I have a bunch of files that were made in MS Excel using Chinese characters in SimSun font. After downloading some language packs the Excel file shows up correctly on my PC. I want to copy and paste the file into Corel. It works fine except some characters show up as a question mark. Most characters (80%) show up fine however.
I have Windows XP, Office 2003, Corel X5, and no understanding of the Chinese language.
I have a user who needs to be able to enter Chinese characters into AutoCAD 2010. The characters display properly in Windows, but AutoCAD cannot recognize them. I believe I need a language pack. Where can I find the official 2010 AutoCAD language packs? I don't see them in Subscription.
I just started getting strange characters on labels that I print from a data table. The process I use is to use mtext with fields to get infromation from the client abbreviation, job name and part numbers onto labels used to keep track of parts and for assembly.
I have used this for some time with no problems but today..... Attached is the template I use and a nested drawing using the same template but with actual data. The one with data works with no problems. I'm pretty sure no variables have changed between them.
I don't know what I did, I tried to check the history of my operations but I didn't find the problem. The /, ', " change place on my keyboard and I can't find them. Then it can't recognize the measure that I give!!!! It is only in autocad because I can write it in other programs.
How the actual file location of a drawing can be shown on the ribbon insert of just the file names. For example, file name BOM.dwg is located in C:custom---. Currently, the tool bar is showing AutoCAD BOM. dwg but I want it to show AutoCAD C:custom---.
I don't use MLINE much (and thought the command was DLINE) and wanted to draw 2 parallel lines. I found I could type MLINE and do what I want.
I'm trying to get used to the Ribbon and wanted to find it there, but after several minutes wasted looking all over the Ribbon, I never found it. The Help showed the ICON of 2 parallel diagonal lines but I can't find it anywhere.
Everytime I try to attach a Hyperlink to a dwg via the ribbon Hyperlink button I receive a FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Exception at e1e7b028h.
I've been trying to incorporate my menus and toolbars into the ribbon environment. I skipped acad 09 so this hasn't been fun. I used the transfer feature in the cui environment to get everything I wanted. I go to 2d environment to check that everything is there and it appears to be there. I load my cui and I get my icons and menus but no ribbon. I have a big message that says, "The Ribbon does not have any tabs or panels currently loaded." I type ribbon to load, but nothing.
I've now messed with this enough that even with the base acad.cuix file I still don't have the ribbons.
I used to have my ribbon and commandline next to each other but now whenever I try and put them back next to each other it always ends up with one on top or one on the bottom. I added a picture to try and explain this!
I rearranged the order of the panels of the "Home" tab to suit the way I like them to be. When i come in for work and open AutoCAD for the first time, or even if I need to shut it down and open it back up, not only does AutoCAD not start in my profile, but when I do set my profile to current, all of the panels rearrange themselves into default location. I even went into the 'Tools> Customize> Interface' menu to change the order the panels are set in there, but it still doesn't work. Everyday, I need to manually change their locations.
OK, something I did completely displaced my ribbon from the default horizontal location to either a floating or dockable vertical layout. It's probably staring me right in the face but how can I change it back?
I work at a place where we use autocad, everywhere... And I'm in IT and i've been struggling with this for a day now. I got 2009/2011 to work, but when i try to get 2010 to work, it just doesnt want to cooperate. Now when i used to start it up a proxy graphics thing would pop up, and i figured out how to turn that off, but then no ribbon loads.
So i go to the command line and type in ribbon, and i get an error:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in a component, in your application. if you continue, the app will ignore this error and attempt to continue. Object reference not set to an instance of an object" and here are the details..See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

I'm old school trying to learn new school! I love using my custom toolbars and abbreviations from the keyboard for calling my autocad commands. I am in the process of learning the uses of the ribbon. I have always used the acad menu, then loaded "partial" custom menus. Is this still possible using the ribbon? Not sure how to do this. I like keeping the custom stuff separate, because we have 5 users with a standard company menu and I like the idea of always going back to the original menu. I suppose my question is how do I use the ribbon, and continue to use my partials also
I want to rename some ribbon tabs. For example in C3D I have an insert tab, but also a map insert tab, but they are both named "Insert". I would like to be able to rename one of them Map Insert instead of just Insert.
I'm trying to get all our users to employ the ribbon and move away from toolbars and pull-down menus and one of the last hold-outs is finally giving it a try. Unfortunately, the titles on the ribbon panels is being cut short so he doesn't see the whole height of the title. See the attached PNG.
