AutoCAD 2010 :: Changing Object Properties In Ribbon
Sep 25, 2012
I am having an issues that I am unable to change the properties of a selected object using the tools located within the ribbon. Instead I need to go through the properties popout to change them.
for instance, I seclect a line and want to change the layer from A-wall to A-door. I try to change it using the drop down layers located within the ribbon, but it does not change. however If I do the same only though the properties popout window I can change it.
is there a way to stop ribbon from changing all those icons whenever you clicking on an object? because my computer at work is a bit slow and each click like that on a large civil 3d profile has a slight delay which that time adds up to reduced productivities. and i am clicking 500 times a day since there are 500 vertices to modifiy on say this alignment.
everytime you click on an object the ribbon changes which takes up cpu time due to running a bunch of codes to populate the icons on the ribbon. tried closing ribbon doesn't work still have the delay when mouse click on an object to show the grips. oh well maybe it's showing the grip that's using the cpu. but how can you say for sure without turning one feature off at a time to test?

MY ribbon has stopped changing with selections. It used to show hatch options when the hatch command was active, it no longer does this... It would also show hatch options if I selected a hatch with grips, and show other options for other entities if selected with grips, it no longer does this.
Every time I re-open a file containing a 3D object placed in the document, if I do a minor change (texture, color or position) the 3d object jump to his imported place in the document and lost the position and direction I placed it.
When objects are selected, they don't show up on the properties panel (or on the Quick Select panel either) It doesn't matter what method I use:
-Pick one object (lines, arcs, circles, blocks, etc), the Quick Properties flyout appears, but empty. Properties flyout show "no selection"
-Window-select object or objects. Quick Properties bar shows up empty again. Properties flyout show "no selection"
-Click on the Quick Select icon. It prompts me to pick geometry. I do. The Quick Select window comes up, but where it says "Object Type", it only has the option "Multiple", and not the normal list of the geometry you selected.
Have Autocad 2011, as well as Autocad 2010 and Inventor 2010 (trial license) on the same machine.

I recently upgraded from LT2013 to LT2014. I never had any issues with 2013, but now seem to be battling with 2014. My OS is Windows 7 Home edition.
When selecting an object and then clicking the properties menu, the properties of the selected object are not displayed, but instead the properties of the selected layer are shown.
In the attached screenshot:
1) My active layer is "AM_VIEWS".
2) The layer of the object that is selected is "MEDIUM".
3) The properties dialog box shows the properties of my active layer and not the selected object.
I am therefore unable to override any settings of the selected object and manually change settings e.g. Linetype, Linetype scale etc.
When I select any object, my quick properties tab is blank and my properties tab doesn't register anything. Also, I get an error message when I go into my CUI to try to modify the quick properties tab. Pretty frustrating. I've attached a couple of images for reference. I've repaired, re-installed and unistalled and re-installed and still have the same probelm.

What's the best way to change the primary command on a ribbon panel? I want to set Pline as the primary command on the draw panel as it is currently line. I've managed to get it to work (sort off) but shouldn't it as simple as right click "set as primary command"?
I want to change some layer properties that are the same on about 100 different drawing files. Is there a way to do this once and have the change reflected every time I open one of the 100 drawings?
I have a title block saved in my template file, and also as a block in the design centre. The variable fields within the title block are in Arial font. If I open each title block and fill them in I have no problem. If I take the shortcut of filling in one and copy and paste from one sheet into the next sheet, the text properties change back to standard.
Mainly, I would like to find it the "Multiple Object Select Ribbon" in the CUI editor, and change its "CONTEXTUAL DISPLAY TYPE" from FULL to MERGED, if this is possible.
We've just upgraded to AutoCAD Architecture 2012 and I discovered that my match properties command (MA) is now on steroids. In the process of making an existing plan into a demo plan, I put a toilet on a demo layer. I intended to use match properties to put other select items on the same demo layer, but when I touched the lavatory, it turned into a toilet. I've never had this happen before. In trying to solve the issue, I've discovered the same thing happens with other AEC objects (couches, urnials, chairs -- all became toilets) and it happens in multiple files. Only walls and doors remain intact with only the layer, color and linetype changing (which is what I was expecting).
I looked at the settings inside the match properties command and none of them seemed to apply. I deselected the special properties options anyway, but the problem remains.
changing some properties default value for 2 items i have here. I want to keep the new settings inside my dwg template but i don't find any why to do it yet.I have to modify these manually or use match properties.
THE TEXT: Has the first picture, i would like to keep the setting Line Space Style: "Exactly" instead of "at least" all the time, each time i open a new autocad. How can i modify this default value? is there a way to do it ?
THE LEADER: Has the picture, in my dimension style i use 2 mm standard closed filled arrow. BUT i like to use the "dot" style sometimes but i like to use the dot at 1 mm not 2 mm.
Is there a way to set individually each type of leader tip size ? With dimension style override it's not working for now..Or maybe if i could change the default properties value for the particular dot in a configuration file?
how to change the precision display in my properties window; I usually keep it open and docked, and am in the habit of changing many of the properties of a selected item there.
When I pick a drawing feature, the properties window's precision is only set to single digits (ie: highlight text, the text size in the window is displayed as "0" instead of "0.8").
I have two problems. I want to change the text size, font, and color to be consistent with my office standards. However I can not find where the Sheet List Style is stored or edited. Which brings me to the second issue, the HELP in Exchange is bogus. Like MANY of the help entries, it refers to incorrectly named or non existent features and commands. In this case it says to "Select the sheet list in the drawing, right-click, and click Edit Sheet List Table Settings." which would be fine, except there is no option in the right click menu named "Edit Sheet List Table Settings".
Clicking on the Manage tab on the ribbon and selecting style Manager, the selecting Documentation objects, then schedule table styles, yeilds...nothing. How can I edit something that has no options?
Hiding the style manager so that all you get when you click on help is a ding that tells you there is a command open, but does not bring the command window to the fore.
Occassionally the object properties in my object manager will dissappear and I am unable to bring them back. I have tried toggling all the buttons on the manager, restarting corel, resetting corel to it's default settings and restarting my computer but nothing will bring back the properties. It does not happen on every single file but it happens often enough to be a pain. I have attached a picture of what the object manager looks like.
How the actual file location of a drawing can be shown on the ribbon insert of just the file names. For example, file name BOM.dwg is located in C:custom---. Currently, the tool bar is showing AutoCAD BOM. dwg but I want it to show AutoCAD C:custom---.
I don't use MLINE much (and thought the command was DLINE) and wanted to draw 2 parallel lines. I found I could type MLINE and do what I want.
I'm trying to get used to the Ribbon and wanted to find it there, but after several minutes wasted looking all over the Ribbon, I never found it. The Help showed the ICON of 2 parallel diagonal lines but I can't find it anywhere.
Everytime I try to attach a Hyperlink to a dwg via the ribbon Hyperlink button I receive a FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Exception at e1e7b028h.
I'm not sure what I did to make this happen or how to change it back, but for some reason when I change the size of an object/line it changes the stroke weight as well. (For example, if I drew an ellipse with stroke weight 2 pt, and then increased the size the stroke weight would be 2.856 pt or some such number instead of 2 pt.) How to change this back?
I've been trying to incorporate my menus and toolbars into the ribbon environment. I skipped acad 09 so this hasn't been fun. I used the transfer feature in the cui environment to get everything I wanted. I go to 2d environment to check that everything is there and it appears to be there. I load my cui and I get my icons and menus but no ribbon. I have a big message that says, "The Ribbon does not have any tabs or panels currently loaded." I type ribbon to load, but nothing.
I've now messed with this enough that even with the base acad.cuix file I still don't have the ribbons.
I used to have my ribbon and commandline next to each other but now whenever I try and put them back next to each other it always ends up with one on top or one on the bottom. I added a picture to try and explain this!
I rearranged the order of the panels of the "Home" tab to suit the way I like them to be. When i come in for work and open AutoCAD for the first time, or even if I need to shut it down and open it back up, not only does AutoCAD not start in my profile, but when I do set my profile to current, all of the panels rearrange themselves into default location. I even went into the 'Tools> Customize> Interface' menu to change the order the panels are set in there, but it still doesn't work. Everyday, I need to manually change their locations.
OK, something I did completely displaced my ribbon from the default horizontal location to either a floating or dockable vertical layout. It's probably staring me right in the face but how can I change it back?
I work at a place where we use autocad, everywhere... And I'm in IT and i've been struggling with this for a day now. I got 2009/2011 to work, but when i try to get 2010 to work, it just doesnt want to cooperate. Now when i used to start it up a proxy graphics thing would pop up, and i figured out how to turn that off, but then no ribbon loads.
So i go to the command line and type in ribbon, and i get an error:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in a component, in your application. if you continue, the app will ignore this error and attempt to continue. Object reference not set to an instance of an object" and here are the details..See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.
