has something changed in 2011 controlling prompts to save pdfs when publishing from sheetset manager?? im using page overrides, which uses dwg to pdf.pc3 file. it publishes but no prompt for file name. i have checked the sheetset publish options and it is set to multiple & prompt for file name, however it still doesnt prompt and saves it in the folder nominated. where else is this controlled?

Publishing files using Autocad 2012 with a page setup to plot to PDF files. I am utilizing Autodesks "DWG to PDF.pc3" file. But I have to go and manually rename the files to remove the "- Model". Is there a way to change this while publishing? Or am I stuck with this file naming convention?

When I publish all the files at one time the right side of the drawing where the title block is cut off about an inch and does not show the complete title block. Publishing to a printer as a multiple batch or publishing the layouts one at a time to pdf does not exhibit this problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedPublishing to PDF as single sheets for insertion into other documents or page managers (such as Indesign) works fine, apart from the fact that it makes crappy work of JPGs should any be embedded in the CAD file. Plotting individually using high quality PDF settings also works but it's difficult with large sets.
Therefore, I would like to publish a tab set to PDF using the plotter named in page setup. However, what this does, is it forces me to pick the file name and locaiton each time, rather than using the one specified in the publish dialog. Is there a way around this? That is, can I make the named plotter behave like the "DWG to PDF" one (that is, name the files automatically)?
If not, can I make the "DWG to PDF" one not compress JPGS?
As to why - I work in a mac environment and everyone draws in Illustrator. I use CAD and many times, for large projects, need this sort of page management. And every once in a while, I need to insert a rendering into a CAD document and then publish.
Am publishing dwgs / saving as .pdfs / Preview looks good, but when I plot, one line of text appears as series of dots and the error msg from Adobe is close to "Cannot find ArialMT font, some text may not format or print correctly...."
My co-workers have no problem publishing these same dwgs from their workstations, however. Also, there are several text objects / boxes in the dwg, and they all print fine 'except' for the one.
Restarting etc., doesn't make any difference. Neither does plotting in Preview or Draft and so on.
After publishing, the printer icon shows the job is spooling, when i hover over it, it says "publish job in progress". And never changes. The sheet set works fine in 2011. I have tried recreating, updating dwt files, multiple setups, tried using the dialogue box and publish override. Nothing is working.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy issue is with the Publish dialogue. I am publishing several sheets to PDF. I do not want layers to be available in the PDF. I shoud be able to control whether or not layers export with the PDF in the "Publish dialogue box > Publish Options > General DWF/PDF options > Layer Information" (then there are two options, either to include or not include layer information). However, when I change it to "don't include" and close out of that box, the main Publish dialogue still shows the layer option as included and the layers are in the PDF after I publish it. why the layers still show up?

The only way to select more than one line for a command is to hold down the shift button and then select more lines. I think someone was playing around with the computer and must have changed a setting?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWithout our office, we set up Sheet Sets for every set of drawings we produce, and we setup Page Setup Overrides specific to those drawings from which we can print. We may setup one for printing fullsize PDFs, another for in-house half-size plots, and another for 11x17 printing. The Overrides are saved on our office network.
We've been having an issue where the plotter(s) in the various Overrides won't work initially when someone other than the creator is printing. That person will have to open up the 'Manage Page Setup Overrides' tab, select 'Modify' for the Override they wish to change, and select the plotter to use in that Override (the plotter always defaults to 'None'). They can publish from that particular drawing set just fine until someone else in the office needs to print using an Override, in which case they go through the same procedure listed above.
We're using network printers only, and we've verified that the printer names, ports, etc. are all the same between the various computers, so different naming or port selection doesn't seem to be an issue.
If I open a drawing created in 2009 and try to publish it in 2010, DSD file message pops saying about unsaved changes (see attached). Since I don't use sheet sets, I do not have any use for DSD file. Is there a way to disable it?
In 2009 it was simple not to include model tab while publishing. Where is this option in 2010? I don't want to remove model tab from the list every time I publish drawings.
After closing and reopening my command prompt, I find that it is now at the bottom left of the screen and no longer part of the main graphics window. How can I get it to display at the bottom of the main display?

I am trying to come up with an easy way to input information for basic objects that we need for sales drawings. Is there a way to create a prompt(length, width, Diameter etc.) so when you open the .ipt it pops up? Anything a little more organized than the parameters box? I've done an excel sheet in the past for certain things, but didn't want to carry and excel sheet over for this option.

When I run my VBA routine from the VBA editor, the command appears in the text window of AutoCAD the way it should, but when I run the routine with the VBAload - VBArun commands (automated on a toolbar button), it does not. Do I need to obtain the AutoCAD object and issue commands that way instead of using the thisdrawing.utility method?
I'm creating a VB.Net routine which will run the REVCLOUD command. In my application I prompt the user to select a single polyline using:
EntRslt = acDoc.Editor.GetEntity(EntOpts)
Then later I run the REVCLOUD command using:
acDoc.SendStringToExecute("_revcloud Object Poly No ", False, False, True)
Where Poly is the polyline I selected earlier. Of course, the line above doesn't work since "Poly" is interpreted as a string. But I would like to figure out how to pass my VB.Net selected Polyline into the REVCLOUD command.
How I might do this? The REVCLOUD command will not accept the "Previous" selection set so setting the Implied Selectoin does not work. If my Polyline was the Last object in the database I could use the "Last" option, but it isn't.
Is there a way to have AutoCAD prompt the user for the name and location when Batch Plotting using DWG 2 PDF?
Currectly I can set the default location in the Publish Option by Naming and Mane are Greyed out and set to N/A.
I am able to set the Auto Publish but that only does a single sheet.

View 1 Replies View Relatedyesterday when I clicked on "Derive" while in a part file I would get a browse window to select the part I wanted to derive, after this a prompt would come up that asked if you wanted the part to be a surface or a solid, if you wanted to scale it, etc. For some odd reason today when I tried to derive a part it doesnt come up anymore. After I select the part it just gets inserted and to keep it I have to hit enter or right click and select "ok". Not sure why the prompt stopped popping out, havent changed anything.

I am wanting to copy the behaviour of a built in function in Civil3d on another object basically information on the object is displayed in a box next to the cursor cros hair but its not a tooltip.
My question is what is it and can you access it for do you have to create it yourselve.
I've noticed this annoying trait in AutoCAD 2012 when drawing a polar array that I hadn't noticed in previous versions. I used to get stuck in a loop having to repeatedly enter the number of items in the array trying to get it to move on to the next command prompt of what angle of fill I required.
Example
CMD = Enter number of items or [Angle between/expression] <4>:
<Type in 20 and hit Return key>
CMD = Enter number of items or [Angle between/expression] <4>:
<Type in 20 and hit Return key>
CMD = Enter number of items or [Angle between/expression] <4>:
<Type in 20 and hit Return key>
Ad infinitum...
I then discovered that this only seems to happen when the cursor is left over the centre of the array you clicked on. But if it's moved to one side the correct command prompt follows the Return key. This isn't intuitive as you have to leave go of the mouse to input the required number at the keyboard, so it tends to be wherever you just clicked, and you end up in the pointless loop.
I wan to turn this prompt off...period. Not fix it, just turn it off.

Looked through options, changed approproate setting to "Never". Still prompts.
How could I prompt a "two points" line entity from the user?

I was trying to use Editor.GetPoint() method two times. But this option does not show the preview of a line.
I also tried a combination of
doc.SendStringToExecute("line ");
db.ObjectAppended += new ObjectEventHandler(LineAppended);
but this option triggers LineAppended event handler as soon as I create the first point of a line. So it does not work.
I'm running AutoCAD LT 2011. As a test for myself when i first started using the program I created a block in which i have a rectangle and a linear stretch pair parameter attached to it, and a field attribute referencing the distance that the stretch parameter is stretched out to.
I'd like to know if its possible to set up a prompt when inserting the block into a drawing that allows me to type the desired distance of the stretch parameter and have the rectangle stretch to the entered distance as its inserted.
I'm trying to automate the process of simply inserting the block and then dragging the grips of the parameter out or updating the distance via the properties panel.
