View 9 Replies View RelatedWe've been using AutoCad for a while now , I'm just about to embark on a new project which I'm not quite sure on scale.
The aircraft I intended to model has a length of 137ft and wingspan of 140ft. Now I can't build it that big but it will probably be around 5-6ft in length once I settled on the scale I'm going to use. My question is do I draw at its original dimension and scale it in paper space or should I draw it in the size its going to be.
It is possible to generate the model of only one sprocket, without drawing the whole transmission? If possible, how to generate this model.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a finished 3D model in AutoCAD (although I did import it from another program), and I want to create the standard orthographic views as easily as possible. This tutorial looked perfect [URL].........
but i ran into some trouble. At step 5, where it says to press Base or use the command VIEWBASE i get a window that will ask me to open up some kind of inventor file. The tutorial does not acknowledge this, but the rest of the instructions and result seem like just what I need!

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Autocad Map 3d 2014, 64 bits, on a windows 7 machine. I set up an enterprise model in a SQL server 2008 R2 database, created a custom industry model with one feature class, converted a SHP to my custom industry model. All 80 features were converted.
The problem is when I'm trying to call Generate Graphic function. Autocad Map crashes and I get this error in the error log:
An item with the same key has already been added.
I would like to know which of the following software can be used to generate a 3D model/surface using the key points. The key points were obtained from 4 images after spline-fitting.

2) AUTOCAD
3) Autodesk Inventor ( Associative Geometry Interface and Reader (Merged/sewn work surfaces are not supported. )
4) CATIA Reader
5) CATIA V5 Associative Geometry Interface and Reader
6) Creo Elements/Direct Modeling
7) Cero Parametric (formerly Pro/ENGINEER ) Associative Geometry Interface and Reader
GAMBIT Reader
9) IGES Reader
10) JT Open Reader
11) NX Associative Geometry Interface and Reader

View 8 Replies View RelatedI drew a 3d spiral, and now i need to create a cut-sheet in sections (half or quarter) so I can sent to my shop for fabrication. Please see attached photos.
I want to be able to provide a cut sheet template so i can print it out and they can trace it on the sheet metal, cut however many sections required, and weld it together to create the spiral. My concern is that the top view dimensions is not an accurate dimension when the piece is bent 8 inches from the start of the spiral.
Also, my next issue would be the side wall of the spiral, and how to properly create a cut sheet on the given dimensions.
I also tried to do this in Autodesk Inventor, using the sheet metal tool, flatten command, and I was unable to flaten the object.
It's routine generate hatch files. (pat extension). You can use them in Autocad or import in Revit.
Two commands:
DHA - tile paterns.
DHL - construction paterns.
I Hope it's work.
Is there a way to generate a roof based from plines? Like this but without tracing? I need to generate multiple roofs at once with the same slope ect.
View 9 Replies View RelatedBasically I've got a detail specific to my design, I've extruded all of the layers up to their desired levels etc, but now I want to be able to rotate it all so that instead of these layers being orientated vertically, they are orientated horizontally, if that makes sense. I understand that there is something involved with the UCS but I'm not sure how to get this to work. This may be an issue with my computer as I know my laptop graphics card is pretty rubbish and impacts a lot of 3d programs such as Rhino and SketchUp so this could be the issue here
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are using iPart - iAssembly workflow with Inv-2013 and Vault Basic 2013
My question is related to released state of iparts. Currently we are generating/ releasing
all the iparts when new member is added in order to manintain the parent child version relationship
Example : say i have a ipart 41020.ipt and i have members 41020- 001 ~ 008 . I check out the parent
from Vault and add 009 member to it.
Question :
Do I have to generate all and check those in to maintain the version relationship between the child and parent inside
Vault 2013 ?
Or
Only generating 009 will maintain version relationship inside Vault 2013

I have to create a hollow model of an aircraft. Most of it is reasonably straight forward, however, I am having real problems modelling the nose and cockpit area due to the inconsistency of the shape from the cabin towards the nose of the aircraft.

I've be trying convert a 3D solid model to DGN file and until now no success!
When I tried to export the model the error message of Figure 1 was returned. I'm using the settings of Figure 2. Is attached too, the DWG file for analysis.
What is the best way to get 2D drawings from a 3D model? Flatshot will give a flat view but it does everything in the entire drawing and brings every line with it.
Is there an easy way to get a 2d drawing from one thing in a 3D model? We only have Autocad, no extras like Revit.
FLATTEN doesn't exists, and when I try FLASTSHOT it asks me for digits and I really don't know what to type.......the ultimate goal is to make all my lines "FLAT" since in top view they look good but in 3D perspective some are just way up and down(non-flat)
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a file thats doing something wierd, when I open it I can see the layouts just fine, the existing viewports show linework from model space. However, when I switch to the model space tab I don't see anything, my mouse cursor dissapears when I move it over the drawing area but reapears when its moved over the ribbon or the prospector/command prompt. Also, when I create a new layout with a new viewport, nothing is displayed in the new viewport. It's like the program cant regen the view? When I went into one of the existing viewports and zoomed out I could see all the linework in model space but when I switch to the model tab it won't show any linework or the UCS indicator or my mouse cursor!?!

I am working in AutoCAD MEP 2011 building a 3d model of a room that has a significant amount of piping in it. I've got the piping finished and have recieved .sat files for the pumps from the manufacturer. When I insert them via ACISIN, they cause significant hesitation in the program. I need to be able to move smoothly through the model for client presentation.
Any good way to reduce the complexity of the pump model without affecting the look of it? In other words, I really only need the shell of the pump to set in place. I did try a conversion to a mass element and then to a 3d solid but it had little effect.
How should I model a random 3D-geometry using AUTOCAD?
I have NEZ data from total station survey of an uneven region. Importing them to AUTOCAD gives me points.
What element should I use to model the 3D geometry enabling me to perform further calculations like volume etc. ?
I want to start rendering during the times a pc is not in use (my first thought: scrip). So I started searching the internet, testing, trial and error and now I am at the point that my model renders perfectly if I type all the commands in the command line. But when I excecute the exact same commands via a script, a lot of my 3d-components are left out (for example, in a piping skid, I see my valves, bends, Tees, steel profiles, but not the pipes or plates). Someone mentioned that it might be the object enabler (?). I have no experience and can't even guess how to use an object enabler, let alone in a script.
The script I am using is:
_VIEW _R
FrontView2
regen
Render
presentation
R
640
480
Y
P:image_1.jpg
[code]...
I am using autocad 2012, the model is created using Bentley Plant design and prosteel and attatched as XREF.
