I don't want to spend the time drawing a PL over the top of it (its a very complex) then copying that.

Jan 4, 2009I have an existing alignment issued to me which has been created using all straight lines even where there should be curves. I am trying to insert curves in these areas. Using free curves (2 entities and a through point) I create a curve then somethings happen I can't work out -
1. The curve is created but the original straight linework stays. I would have thought the original linework would automatically delete. See attached pdf between points 60 and 62 the curve and straights can be seen.
2. Then all stations after the curve are changed to the question mark symbol. If i click on the alignment all the grips are still there for the full length of the alignment, indicating the alignment is still in one piece.
3. If I try to create another curve further along the alignment it won't allow it. Stating on the command line "Selected entity must be part of the main entity."
I'm using C3D 2009.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Adding Profile Elevations To Alignment Labels
May 10, 2010Is there a way in C3D to add elevation information from a profile to an alignment label? What I'm trying to do is add labels to an alignment in a plan view with elevation information from a profile design associated with that alignment at a particular station. For example, the note would read:
ALIGNMENT B
STA: 12+83.67
ELEV: 435.87
I can't figure out how to add any elevation data to the alignment note. I really don't want to have to create a section and a corridor surface, but that's the only way I can think of right now... and I'm not sure that would actually let me add a station and elevation in the same note in a plan view.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Adding Alignment Profile To Existing Pview
Nov 13, 2012I have one surface "EG" and two alignments, I'll call 1 and 2. The profile view already has the alignment 1 surface projected on it. I go to profile>Create Surface Profile and select alignment 2, Surface EG, go to ADD it but the profile list is empty. Shouldn't it already be populated with alignment 1 and all I'm doing is adding 2 to it? Both alignments are in the same site.

May 14, 2013I am using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013. I am thinking that this may not be possible at this point but I am still going to try. I have an alignment label style for station and offset. I also have created a dynamic block for the border of this label to put around that label. This call out border is not a typical single width border so the borders within the alignment style do not match and cannot be used for our designs. I have attached an image of the border around the label style for a random alignment. So far the dynamic block has been a great fix for the border so that we dont spend a lot of time drawing in these borders for each label, but I was trying to add this dynamic block to the label style so that it would act as the border.
So far I have tried adding the block as a component in the layout tab of the label style but it appears where I anchor it and does not access any of the dynamic attributes to make the callout box larger in reference to the text. I know I can insert it so that in general it will be surrounding the Station, Offset, and Alignment contents, however, we frequently add additional text to our labels to callout pipe bends and other items so the box is not typically the same size.
How I might be able to do this or if it is not possible at this time?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Arabic Text Alignment In Drawing
Jun 3, 2012I am using autocad 2000, 2007 and 2013. Once i placed the arabic text with right alignment in my drawing and save and close the drawing. the same drawing if we open in another session/ system those arabic texts are moved towards left without any reason.
But if we double click on the arabic text, then it sit in correct place. What is the resolution for this issue?
I have attached 2 snapshots for ref. one is correct alignment and other is misplaced.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Drawing Has Disassociated Surface And Alignment Data References
Aug 28, 2013I am working on roadway project where I am using Pipe Networks to layout the drainage infrastructure. I have set my working dwg up so that I am data referencing the existing surface and proposed alignment. I have set my pipe network up so that it is also referencing this surface and alignment. Everything was working fine. Labels were pulling the correct information from my surface elevations, and stations were being referenced as well, until I got a message that recommended that I recover my drawing.
I ran recover and my surface and alignment data shortcut disappeared. My pipe network now shows questions marks where there were once stationing and it appears that the surface and alignment have completely disassociated themselves from my drawing, however they appear in the prospector, but cannot be refreshed. Again the data shortcut symbol is no longer next to my surface and alignment, but there is a symbol telling me that those objects are being referenced by another object in my drawing (my pipe network). I have tried refreshing, resetting the working folder, all to no avail.

Dec 10, 2013Eventually after I copy and paste with the clipboard enough times within one drawing, the ability goes away and I can no longer copy and past one item from one drawing to a separate drawing. I need to use the clipboard function because that is the only way of getting an item from one drawing to another.
I have download a clear clipboard function but it doesn't work. Closing CAD and restarting does not reinstate the function.

Jun 28, 2013I have recently run across an odd issue when adding text to a drawing in Civil 3D. The problem comes with creating a new text item in an existing drawing. In this drawing, if I insert a text object, Civil freezes up for several minutes. Once it is un-frozen, the text pops up as it should and everything works as normal. This happens for both single line and multi line text, with any of my text styles, and across all layers that I have tried. Other regular drawing objects do not cause any problems, and there are also no problems editing any existing text objects.
To troubleshoot, I have created new drawings and added text, but they do not have problems. I have also opened other existing drawings, but no problems with those either. I am worried that the drawing file may be corrupted, but audits and recovers don't show ay errors, and I have purged out everything not in use.
The strangest part is that if I open the same drawing in Map 3D, I have the same text insertion problems, but when I open it in plain CAD or in Raster Design, the text will insert with no problems.

Apr 6, 2013I was adding text and leaders to a drawing and after the text was entered I pushed the escape key. It then asked me if I want to save my text. It also had a check box asking me if I always want to perform that so it wouldn't keep popping up with that question. Well, I had checked that I didn't want the text and I also checked the box to always perform that answer. And now it won't save any text that I write. It just keeps the leader. How can I get the text to stay and undo the box that I checked to always answer that way (to not keep text)?

Then I put the cursor on a grip and see a window open that gives me the options of Stretching a vertex, Adding a vertex, or Removing a vertex. Is there a way when adding a vertex that you can add Mulitple vertexs without having to click on add vertex every time.

Nov 6, 2012I have written a program that basically replaces certain mvblocks, tags actually, in several drawings, the purpose being to change the displayed label of an object.
I have just 2 of the 3 affected drawings open and just 1 of those 2 is acually active at the time the program runs.When I run the program the tags in the open and active drawing get replaced fine.
The tags in the open but NOT active drawing appear unchanged but a "regen" causes them to go away but the new tags do not appear, if I save, close, and reopen the drawing, as the drawing is reopening I see the new tags but the label text is offset and just prior to the drawing being fully open (back at "command" prompt) the tag text does move to its correct location. a save now saves the drawing correctly so on subsequent openings everything is correct.
The tags in the unopened drawing, when I do open it, once again, I see the new tags but the label text is offset and just prior to the drawing being fully open (back at "command" prompt) the tag text does move to its correct location. a save now saves the drawing correctly so on subsequent openings everything is correct.
Regardless of the state (open, unopen, active, inactive) I am running each drawing through the same subroutines to delete the old tag and put on the new as I am passing the drawing DB to the subroutines, the only difference being that I am putting a document lock on the open drawings documents before I start the subroutines.
I do have the CommandFlags.Session flag set on the command that launches the program. So, what am i missing that the new tags are not showing up in the open but inactive dwg until the drawing is saved and reopened, and then in both, open and inactive and the unopened dwg the label text appears offset until the dwg opens completely?

PTPUtils.CreateLayer() method creates a new layer in the given DB. However, the code gives me an "eKeyNotFound" exception in the line p.Layer = newLayer.
If I remove the p.Layer line, the code works very well. But the entity only goes to the default layer "0".

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Data Reference Alignment Stationing Differs From Original Alignment
May 3, 2012I using a data reference/shortcut to properly label an alignment in paperspace. However when I reference the alignment in and apply the labels the aren't the same as the original alignment that I am referencing. Is there a setting where I am supposed to apply a new beginning station.
Also it seems as though the stationing(distance) isn't even matching up 1:1 with the original drawing. For example in the original base drawing my alignment starts at 10+00 with the next PI at 14+76.98, but the stationing on the reference alignment starts at 0+83.33 with the very same PI being labeled as 1+23.08. So the very same distance is 476.98' in the real design and the drawing it's being referenced in, but the stationing of the referenced alignment shows it as 39.75 Units.
