View 1 RepliesI'm trying to override the F9 key with an AutoLISP subroutine invocation. However, though I have redefined the Temporary Override Key (associated with the F9 key) in the CUI editor, the F9 key nevertheless still triggers the default Toggle Snap Mode behavior. So it's not accepting the redefinition even though the new definition persists between AutoCAD sessions.
how to get the redefinition to take?
I've been working with a firm for 6 weeks now, and had no major AutoCAD problems for the first 5 weeks. We're running AutoCAD 2010 on my machine, and it crashes quite often when I close drawings, which is quite annoying. But last week after opening a series of drawings to print some stuff for the boss, and CAD crashing after every 1 or 2 prints, I got the message:
A display driver file (.hdi) is missing or has been corrupted. The program will be closed.
This problem may be caused by missing .hdi files in the following location:
C:program filesAutoCAD Architecture 2012drv
I ran a repair, then did a reinstall, and when neither of those worked I just uninstalled and reinstalled the whole program. I still got the error message, but I had opened AutoCAD Architecture and was using that instead for a bit and saw Autodesk do an update in the background. So I booted up AutoCAD 2010 and it was working again so I guess it fixed the problem. I used it for a few more days then yesterday I had to open and print another series of drawings for the boss and it crashed again after every one, as usual, and when I sat back down and tried to open up a drawing to work on it I got the same error message again. Frustrated and angry, I switched over to AutoCAD Architecture and imported my Classic setting and used that for the next day. But this morning I had to open and print 3 more drawings for the boss and Architecture crashed after every one, then it started giving me the same error that regular AutoCAD has been giving me about the missing .hdi file. I copied the drv folder from a co-worker's computer and replaced mine with the working one, but neither version of AutoCAD is working again.
So I ask, what do I do now? I can't keep uninstalling and reinstalling AutoCAD every week because of these crashes and missing .hdi files. I need a real fix, something to fix the constant crashes and missing files. Sometimes I have to open multiple drawings to pull blocks or whatever from an older drawing, and I can't risk CAD crashing after I close these drawings and me possibly losing some work on the file I am actually working on at the time. this is making me way less productive at work spending all this time trying to get AutoCAD to work.
Is there any way to prevent the DWG > PDF printer driver from exporting out the layers in the drawing. I want to issue PDF's to different people but I don't want them to accidently freeze or turn off layers.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat Acad2010 or Trueview 2012 uses to create it's bacth PDF's? We got a new plotter last week and it seems to have corrupted that driver somehow. We are no longer able to create batch PDF in either Acad or Trueview. We using both Win XP and Win 7 machines. I don't know if the plotter had anything to do with this problem it just seem that this happend the same time as we installed the plotter. I can use a 3rd party PDF maker to make individual PDF but this takes time, the batch PDF is much more useful for me. I'm hoping I can get the generic PDF driver that autocad uses and reinstall that, but I don't know what it is or where I can find it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using IV 2012 Pro and modeling a plant that has misc. equipment all interconnected by piping runs. I created the equipment models and several specific pipe styles as well as authored a few custom valves, etc. The customer has redesigned the equipment layout three times in the last two months. Each time they do, some of the pipe runs follow their associated equipment correctly and some do not. It's been frustrating to say the least. Whenever the run has valves (be they custom or content center) it seems that the valves hold their position in space and pipe tries to follow the equipment. I end up with a mess of **** each time and end up deleting the entire tube and pipe runs to start over.
I have constrained the equipment by groups to minimize the back and forth runs. Basically I can move a group of equipment by changing one of a set of master constraints. I have three groups. I was hoping that this would keep the pipe runs inside the group to remain unchanged as their inter-relation inside the group never changes. This is not what happens. The equipment moves, some of the pipes update correctly, some hold their position in space, and some leave valves or fittings behind and also try to maintain connections to the equipment.

Is there a way to create a temporary document and database that I can show in my preview control? The Preview Control was created with the guidance of the BlockView.net sample.
What I mean by temporary, is a document / database that cannot be displayed or edited in the editor window.
I was wondering if there is any way to temporarily mark measurements that I have made with the Measure function so I can go back and start a line at that point. Each time I use Measure, the information disappears when I go to another function.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently acquired AutoCAD 2007 LT and I'm trying to modify the temporary override keys the way I like them, and I can not get them to modify, or to work in their current settings.
I found the entry for the topic 'To modify a shortcut key.' It has 8 steps. I got through the first five, but the sixth I can not get to work as they describe it.
When I go to enter the new temporary override key, nothing appears in the entry window. For example, I am trying to set Endpoint Snap to CTRL-E. (It is currently SHIFT-E.) This is how I had it in 2002 and it shouldn't be a problem. But when I type it in, nothing appears. In fact, no matter what I type, nothing appears unless I press 'shift' first.
I also can't get them to actually work. If I'm in the Line command, and I turn off the running Osnap, and I press Shift-E, it does not actually create an endpoint snap for me, it just types a capital E in the command line, which does nothing for me.
DIST temporary line with thickness - bug
To replicate:
Open any drawing > go to Layout.
Turn ON Lineweight.
Enter DIST command. Pick first point. Do not pick second point.
Instead do wheel mouse zoom in. => the temporary line has thickness. It should not.
I’ve been using Autocad LT since 1994 and the Tracking command has always worked the same, now in the newest version (2009) when I Shift + Right Click I only have “Temporary Track Point” on the menu and it works differently then the old Tracking in LT 2002.
If I want to place a Point at a specific area inside a rectangle I would normally select Point then invoke Tracking then select the bottom left corner of the rectangle and move the cursor over to the Right and enter a distance such as 2.1 Enter, then move my cursor up and enter another distance 2.5 Enter, Enter. That would place the point at 2.1,2.5 relative to the lower left corner of the rectangle. I can no longer do this because as soon as I hit Enter after the first distance it places the point there.
I'm working on a rather large subdivision (not uncommon, certainly used to a longer-than-normal load time) but have found one of our XREF files to be bringing drawing loads to a screeching halt. We have XLOADCTL set to 2, which explains the creation of the temporary file.
I have previously gone into the file and reset the scale list, which speed things up by about 50%, but today it appears to be doing the same thing.
Is there anything I can do to prevent this from becoming a more serious problem? Can I add some sort of SCALELISTEDIT reset command to the acaddoc.lsp file?

I have recently installed a computer system and the Plotter the client is using is a Canon W7200; Canon have refused to release any updated drivers and there were never any previous 64bit drivers that were created for this piece of hardware.
Are there any Universal Plotting Drivers? or a Generic one that can be used with all Canon Plotters?

What is the difference other than the first one can create layer info in the printed files.

I have VideoStudio 11 running under an XP Virtual PC.
I'm sure that there is a command to delete temporary files but I can't for the life of me remember how to access it.
Alternatively, would it be easier to go straight to the VideoStudio working folder. I've just had a look there and was staggered to find no less than 24GB of various files in the CvtedTitle folder.

I am using Revit 2014. My temporary dimensions do not show. When they do, they only show on one side. I have gone to Manage>Additional Settings>Temporary Dimensions, and tried the different options. It is making it very difficult to place things right now. Is there an all on button I can push? I have also tried closing and re-opening the file, turning off the computer, etc. They were available for use yesterday morning and have not worked since.

They are named "Temporary Folder" followed by a long string of alphanumeric characters. Presumably they were created by LR as part of its operations (importing?). Can I erase these or will that disturb the Catalog? If they will, how can I remove them or should I just leave them alone? They are really piling up.

When I'm working on a project, I sometimes create bits of artwork that I may or may not want to use in the piece. However, when I move the items off the canvas, they pretty much disappear. Is there any way to store items "off canvas" and have them visible for quick selection?
One option, I guess, is to make the whole Edit preview area the canvas and only crop the item to final size when I'm done, but that seems wonky.
