It been a while since I did this and I getting something wrong. I want to add custom SS field to my TB which I have created in SSM, but when I edit the block to add the custom field to an attribute default the list is empty.

I have a call out block that I am trying to link to my custom fields in my sheet set manager. When I put the block into paper space the fields fill in properly and if I make changes to the field in the SSM then the block updates properly. If I insert the block into model space the fields come in as if they are broken and you cannot reference the data in the SSM. The issue is that I don't want to do my annotation in paperspace, so is there a way to change the interaction between my block with the custom fields and the SSM.
Basically, I want to get the sheet set to automatically label in my title block the TOTAL sheets of the sheetset. I have a field within each drawing for the current page number of the sheetset, that is an easy one, what is hard is how do I code the second field to display the LAST page of the sheetsets page number?
Example:
My text looks like this: Page 4 / 10. Say I have 10 sheets, all in the sheetset and numbered. What I have done in the past is set the first page number to Current Sheet Page Number, but in each sheet set the second part to the last page number, in this case sheet 10. The problem comes later if I add in a sheet or two, to push the total sheets to say 12, I would then have to go through each sheet individually to change that last page component to sheet 12 instead of 10.
Is there an easy way (and Im sure there is) to just set that last field to automatically reference the page number of the final sheet in the sheetset, no matter if it changes or not? How do you do it?

I thought when a person uses a field named CREATEDATE it would be a creation date time stamp. When creating a new drawing by layout and you check the creation date by using the time command you get the correct date of creation. The Sheet set manager field called CREATEDATE is not consistant. If I save the drawing this field changes the date to the current date. So I ask is this a flaw or should the field be renamed to lastsaveddate? Just asking because when I look for the Create Date I need the date I actually created the drawing not the last time I saved it. Just saying.
The problem occurs in the "Sheet View" area of Sheet Set Manager (SSM).
The first six steps describes our procedure for adding details to drawings, using hypothetical names. Layout "101" is on Drawing "100 DETAILS" and appears as sheet "101" in sheet set "PROJECT". Sheet set "PROJECT" (and associated drawings) is actively accessed by multiple users on the same network.
1. I create a view "PLATE DETAIL" in model space of drawing "100 DETAILS", and save the drawing.
2. I navigate the "Model Views" tab of Sheet Set "PROJECT" for view "PLATE DETAIL" in drawing "DETAILS" and "Place on Sheet" on the current layout "101".
3. A Sheet view is inserted on layout "101" with a View Label block with the view title "PLATE DETAIL(2)" and a view number of "___" (blank). I save the drawing.
4. I navigate the "Sheet Views" tab of SSM for view title "PLATE DETAIL(2) on sheet "101" and "rename and renumber" the sheet view, assigning "1" to the view number and changing view title to read (simply) "DETAIL".
5. After a regen on layout "100", the view label reads correctly: the title reads "DETAIL" and the view number reads "1".
6. I exit the drawing and close sheet set "PROJECT".
I believe this is the correct procedure for adding sheet views, but here's where the problems begin:
7. An hour later, I open sheet set "PROJECT" and the drawing "100 DETAILS"
8. Upon examination, I see that the View Title for the detail I placed earlier reads "PLATE DETAIL(2)" and the View Number reads "___" (blank). It appears as if I never followed step #4.
9. I navigate to to the "Sheet Views" tab of SSM, and I observe that even there, the View Title reads "PLATE DETAIL(2)" and View Number is blank, as if I never edited it. I correct the view title and view number, and the view label again reads correctly.
10. As in step #6, I exit and close the sheet set.
This is an oversimplification of one problem we are having. Imagine if this problem occurred with multiple details (up to 20 per sheet) on multiple sheets (up to 100 per project). These details are also referenced by section marks, detail marks and fields in mtext.
Occasionally we encounter another, more difficult problem:
10. An hour later, I open sheet set "PROJECT" and the drawing "100 DETAILS" as before.
11. Upon examination, I see that the view title I placed earlier reads "########" (hash marks) and the view number reads "#".
12. I navigate to the "Sheet Views" tab, as before. The view title reads "PLATE DETAIL(2) and the view number is blank, like in step #9. Only THIS time, correcting the information in SSM does not remove the hash marks. This means that the View Label is no longer linked to SSM.
13. I can re-insert a view label from SSM by "Place View Label Block" but that does not correct a wider problem: all references, such as Section marks, detail marks and text fields which appear on many drawings. All of these must either be re-inserted, or re-fielded.
We feel we have been following the correct procedures in a multi-user environment, but the results have been disastrous.
I'm trying to set up a title block template that will be used between several different sheet sets. I have entered the custom properties, then when I go to the title block and try to insert the fields with current sheet set custom the drop down box is empty and then when I try to type in the custom property name the link still does not function. Is there some trick that I'm missing, or is this function broken on AutoCad 2013?
I have a SSM set up with both Sheet Custom Properties and Sheet Set Custom Properties.
When I start a new project, i can populate both areas of the main SSM. I'll create my sheets and have them self populated by the "root" SSM settings (if you will)well now, lets say i need to change the date of the sheets from the past.. to the future submittal date. I set it in the "Sheet Custom Properties" in the "root" SSM and then I have to go to each sheet; right click --> Properties each sheet and change the custom properties.
Basically, is there a way to have the sheets (after created) to automatically update to the new date?
When we plot full packages for construction documents, we have to provide plot numbers for each sheet to the printing room. This is a completely different number then the sheet number itself....the plot number is basically the actual sheet number within the entire construction document. So if there's 245 sheets in the entire construction document and landscape sheets need to start at 188, is there a way to set up a field that knows how to number accordingly?
I have a ss that I am using & wish to generate a drawing index sheet. I can manually update the fields in the drawing index table on the index drawing, but I would like to have this automatically work for every sheet set I generate.Would I need to use hyperlinking fields for this to work?

When I try to select the folder where my drawings are located SSM is only showing me 2 of the 3 drawings located in that folder. I have not had any problems with other folders. I even tried moving the drawing file to a different folder, but SSM still does not add it to the sheet set list. I have tried re-booting and nothing.
I have set up a title block template I plan to use for ALL of my drawings.
I fallowed this website and PDF file at bottom: [URL]......
Great resource and very good explanation step by step which was what I was looking for; the problem I'm having is all his files are set up specifically for one project and I'm having difficulty setting it up for me.
I have everything finished but when I open my project .dwg file and SSM then new SSM file from template and customize the options everything looks fine however when I go to open a new sheet; yes it does open the template .dwt file however it completely open the whole .dwg file of the template so my viewport is the template viewport not my project .dwg file......
How do I get SSM to open new layout/paper spaces with the title block template but the viewport of my current project .dwg file.
I have had an issue where my text field shows up as "####" even though the the value is still showing up in the custom properties menu. I've tried updating the field and re-inserting the field and it keeps showing up as "####"
How to open multiple sheets using sheet set manager? In our office we have some machines that do and some that don't. Is there a variable to change? I know its possible I just don't know how to do it.
Is there a way to set the sort order in Sheet Set Manager for the Model Views tab? Seems like a few releases ago it was alphabetical - now its random and almost impossible to locate a specific drawing in a large project.
Tried changing MAXSORT and it did not have an effect.
I've created a new sheet set with some existing drawing files. These files have several layout tabs in each drawing. The Sheet Set Manager (SSM) seems to import the layout tabs in random order, not in the order they appear on the drawing, nor in alphabetical or numerical order. In addition, the SSM imports and numbers all of my drawings in reverse order. Any system variable setting, or some other property setting somewhere that will change this back to ascending order?
It took me a long time & effort to add all 190 custom sheet set properties (Our Frame/template is complex). When i found out that I could not re-order the sheet set custom properties I was really pleased.
My problem;
I'm trying to add a FIELD with some of the sheet set custom properties. Why are the field not seing ANY of the 190 properties I added to my sheet set? see picture
I really love all of thoses fancy new feature Autodesk add year after year, I mean, you know, NURBS modeling & stuff... Trully great work Autodesk!
I FINALLY decided to get my head around the Sheet Set Manager (kudos to Kate Morrical's video series).
I understand the need to create custom properties, and I can see that you can either "add" or "delete" custom properties, but is there any way to CHANGE the property after it's been defined?
For example, if I create a custom property complete with a default value, but discover later that I made a spelling mistake (eg. "Darwn By" instead of "Drawn By"), is there any way to MODIFY it?
How do I get my Sheet Set Manager to open up each time I open a CAD drawing? I turned it off and can't remember how to turn it back on. I use command SSautoopen, set to 1 but doesn't alway work. Sometimes if I close AutoCad and reopen it I can got to drop down menu and click on .dst extension and it will open but if I close out of it it won't open again unless I restart AutoCAD. I thought I used a command from the Express Tool menu but can't find it.
How people deal with multiple revisions of one sheet with sheet set manager, basically I want the cover sheet of drawings to have a list of drawings including the revision letter and revision date and on each individual sheet keep track of historical revisions
There is the current sheet revision and date fields.Does everyone usually just update these and manually keep track of historical revisions else where in there title block?
I'm fairly new to Autocad and getting used to using sheet set manager. What I'm experiencing is, when you insert a model view it brings in an xref of that model, but i'm then unsure how to add additional xref models into the same view.
For example I have a separate ground floor plan file and OS data file which I want to show in the one sheet view without nesting the OS data to the original ground floor file.
I created some new custom line types using express tool featute in autocad and I saved it with a .lin extension. It is only available in that drawing itself. How I canget those line type in all my new drawings.
I tired to edit the default linetype file even it doesnot appear in the linetype manger windo.

I was creating a new sheet set in the sheet set manager as I have created new drawings to be added to the old one. When I do this and browse to the directory of drawings, once I hit next it only wants to create a sheet with a few drawings in the directory. There are 22 drawings in the directory and is leaving out about 18 when it creates the sheet set.
I am trying to create a sheet set with sheet set properties for title blocks but every time I close sheet set manage I lose the properties I typed in .
I am using the Sheet Set options to creat my Sheet Index. It imports everything just fine. My issue is when I want to create a space between sections the option to add a row is greyed out. For ex I would like my sheet index to look similer to the following
S1.01 S1.11 S1.41
S2.01 S2.03
S3.01 ETC.
Is there a way to do this using the sheet index option in Sheet Set manager?
I'm using AutoCAD LT 2012 and our client doesn't want/like sheet sets.
One item I'd love to have is the pg. number automated. In the current title block it's just text not an attribute. Is there a way I can take only a part of the file name and insert it as a field?
For example, the file name is DW_12321_12.dwg the last part of the name is the sheet number. Can I exclude everything but the 12 and insert just that into the field?
I just opened up a project Sheet Set that i haven't worked on in a while, and all of my layout pages have a series of "#" in place of the fields. For example, the name of my viewport should read "Head Detail", which is the name given to that view in the Sheet Set Manager, but instead reads "##############". This also happens with my view numbers, callout bubbles, etc.
However, the information in my title block is still intact. For example, the Project Name, Client Name, Page Number, etc. all read the correct values.
I tried opening the drawings in Reference Manager, but I see no alerts or errors. I have had this happen before in previous versions going back to at least 2010, but they have always been small projects and I just recreated the views and callouts. This is a large project however, and redoing this will cost hours, if not days of extra work.
In examining the fields, it seems like the problem fields are those defined by the SheetSetPlaceholder Filed Name, and the Placeholder type is irrelevent; they are all broken. For other Field Names, for example CurrentSheetNumber, the references still work.
