AutoCad :: Sheet Set Manager And Custom Properties
Nov 7, 2013
I have a SSM set up with both Sheet Custom Properties and Sheet Set Custom Properties.
When I start a new project, i can populate both areas of the main SSM. I'll create my sheets and have them self populated by the "root" SSM settings (if you will)well now, lets say i need to change the date of the sheets from the past.. to the future submittal date. I set it in the "Sheet Custom Properties" in the "root" SSM and then I have to go to each sheet; right click --> Properties each sheet and change the custom properties.
Basically, is there a way to have the sheets (after created) to automatically update to the new date?
I am trying to create a sheet set with sheet set properties for title blocks but every time I close sheet set manage I lose the properties I typed in .
I'm trying to set up a title block template that will be used between several different sheet sets. I have entered the custom properties, then when I go to the title block and try to insert the fields with current sheet set custom the drop down box is empty and then when I try to type in the custom property name the link still does not function. Is there some trick that I'm missing, or is this function broken on AutoCad 2013?
I currently use code similar to Lee Ambrosius's 2009 AU handout that shows how to set/create custom properties. URL.... search for the header 'Adding Sheet Set and Sheet Properties'.
I have now accumulated numerous unused custom properties in my sheet set. I haven't been able to find a way to delete these additional custom properties.
Because I use multiple subsets with multiple sheets for printing, I would rather not have to go through all the sheets, store all the custom properties I need, destroy all the existing custom properties, and then re-create just the ones I need. how to delete individual custom properties.
It been a while since I did this and I getting something wrong. I want to add custom SS field to my TB which I have created in SSM, but when I edit the block to add the custom field to an attribute default the list is empty.

It took me a long time & effort to add all 190 custom sheet set properties (Our Frame/template is complex). When i found out that I could not re-order the sheet set custom properties I was really pleased.
My problem;
I'm trying to add a FIELD with some of the sheet set custom properties. Why are the field not seing ANY of the 190 properties I added to my sheet set? see picture
I really love all of thoses fancy new feature Autodesk add year after year, I mean, you know, NURBS modeling & stuff... Trully great work Autodesk!
I have a set of drawings with a large number of sheets. I need to do a mass edit of the properties for each sheet (for example update the revision number, date, checked/design/approved/drafting initials, description). The updated properties are largely similiar.
Is it necessary to update each sheet's custom properties individually, or is there an easier method?
How can I stack text in a custom sheet set property without editing custom properties and adding another line. The clients name is much longer than normal.
Now that I have all my custom properties set up I can't seem to update the custom ones that I made. The custom properties I have added do not seem to work when I update them the through the Sheet Set Manger properties.
How people deal with multiple revisions of one sheet with sheet set manager, basically I want the cover sheet of drawings to have a list of drawings including the revision letter and revision date and on each individual sheet keep track of historical revisions
There is the current sheet revision and date fields.Does everyone usually just update these and manually keep track of historical revisions else where in there title block?
I'm fairly new to Autocad and getting used to using sheet set manager. What I'm experiencing is, when you insert a model view it brings in an xref of that model, but i'm then unsure how to add additional xref models into the same view.
For example I have a separate ground floor plan file and OS data file which I want to show in the one sheet view without nesting the OS data to the original ground floor file.
I was creating a new sheet set in the sheet set manager as I have created new drawings to be added to the old one. When I do this and browse to the directory of drawings, once I hit next it only wants to create a sheet with a few drawings in the directory. There are 22 drawings in the directory and is leaving out about 18 when it creates the sheet set.
I am using the Sheet Set options to creat my Sheet Index. It imports everything just fine. My issue is when I want to create a space between sections the option to add a row is greyed out. For ex I would like my sheet index to look similer to the following
S1.01 S1.11 S1.41
S2.01 S2.03
S3.01 ETC.
Is there a way to do this using the sheet index option in Sheet Set manager?
I have an older drawing with an outdated sheet format. I'm wanting to update to a new custom sheet format without having to redimension and recreate views. Is it possible to just update the sheet format?
When I enter CTRL+1 at the command line I get this Properties doesn't show scale.jpg What I want is this Properties Manager nestly's last dialog.jpg with the capability to adjust Scale X, Y, and Z.
We have just upgraded to 2012 map 3d and now every time I open a drawing whether or not in the sheet set manager or straight from the file location, the layer properties manager opens with it. Is there a way to make it not open every time a drawing is opened?
I'm working on a CAD file created from a surveying company. In layer properties manager I cannot change the layer color to a different color, keeps defaulting back to the original color.
Run into an issue in AutoCAD Map 3D 2012 when multiple raster images (in this case 66 ortho images) are attached as data connections, you cannot see New Layers when you create them in the default Layer Properties Manager?
I have found using the Classic Layer Properties Manager is a work around.
It doesn’t seem to matter if the ortho images are connected individually or grouped as a single layer.
I am using AutoCAD LT 2013 where I work.I am working with a Floor Plan in which the building and the Site Plan are XRefed and the drawing is very slow.
The building is small, but the XREfed Site Plan, being of a large shopping center, was as drawn by a survey company, and is large. I took out (erased) the solid hatches that indicate the concrete, to make the site a little smaller. Since I do not use the entire site plan on the recipient Floor Plan Sheet, I clipped it using XClip, so only the necessary areas and parking around the building are shown.
I notice that the recipient drawings are very slow (i.e., the Floor Plan where I am working), and the Layers Properties Manager is the worst offender, being very slow and erratic when I want to add a new layer, change layer name, etc.
The computer is a new very large computer, and I did not have this slowness problem before working with other prjects.
Is there any setting or some settings that will make the drawings faster?
i have recently upgraded from 08' LT to 12'LT and i have an intermittent issue with the Layer properties box.sometimes when i open the layers list and want to change layer name, color, linetype etc it will discard all changes when i close the box and the command line will show something like this
Command: _layer Command: Unknown command "-LAYER". Press F1 for help.
the Layer box opens and works as normal but makes no changes to the drawing.if i reopen the layer prop box it will then work, it seems to be completely at random whether it works or not.
I am having an issue with the Properties Manager in AutoCAD 2013 LT.
When a single object is selected, the dropdown appears blank and the properties displayed are just the default drawing properties that are displayed when nothing is selected.I am unable to view/modify any object's (line, hatch, etc) properties.
My PICKFIRST variable is set to 1. This happens on any file I open with 2013 LT but does not when the same file is opened with 2007 LT. I have also reinstalled/repaired the program through the control panel. I am at a complete loss.
I am starting over here at work. I am using and familiar with SSM. However, i want some feed back on some of your practices on where you keep the DST files and other basic setting. I want to make sure i am not missing something or overlooking a better (efficient) way to keep everything organized.
currently I have created a "template" DST file and keep it in a subfolder for the project that is currently being worked in. I like this because when we archive the job folder; everything that goes with that job gets zipped/archived.
I have been thinking about putting all the DST files in one "SSM" folder in the root folder list of our projects...
In ACLT 2008, I was able to resize the window in the layer properties manager to what was convenient for me. In ACLT 2010, I am unable to change either the size or the position of the window. The same is true of the Design center window. Is this something that is permanently changed, or is there maybe a fix coming to allow this convenience in the future? Or have I missed some system variable which controls this?
I've created a VB.NET routine to update blocks, layers and layer filters from a source drawing.
After updating filters and when the command is finished (dialog closed), the Layer Properties Manager palette MAY not update to show the new set of filters although visually you can see that it does appear to refresh itself.
Whether it updates seems to depend on which filter is active and which filters are added. For example, I have properties filters A, B, C, D and E, and B and E have subfilters B1-B8 and E1-E9.
If Filter E3 is removed as a test and the parent filter E is active, when the command is done, E3 should appear back in the list, but it does not show until the palette is closed and reopened. If filter B is active, then the list will refresh and E3 will show immediatlely after the command exits.
I have added a dialog to my routine to inform the user they may have to close the palette and reopen to get the proper display.
I have tried Editor.UpdateScreen() but that does not work.
One of my CAD techs is having an issue with the Layer Properties Manager Palette. When she opened AutoCAD, the palette was gone. When she tried to bring it up with "LAYERPALETTE", she gets the "unknown command" message. When she tried to bring it up using "LA" or "LAYER" or the button on the ribbon, she gets a bunch of options in the command line.
How can we get the Layer Properties Manager Palette back?
