View 3 RepliesIs it possible to setup a block so that an attribute position remaines fixed (absolute to drawing) when moving the block?
I've been playing around with creating a Coordinate Block by following these instructions: [URL] ........
What I would like is to be able to set the position of the Coordinate Label and Coordinate Object independently, so that if I move one in the drawing, it doesn't move the other. I've looked into Dynamic Blocks, and the "Lock Position" parameter. I can move the attribute independently, but still everytime I move the block, the attribute moves too.
Our company uses a custom Sheet/Coordinate system to follow flyoffs across a drawing, and I'm trying to learn how to automate the process. It's completely manually right now, so any changes to a drawing creates a lot of work renumbering these flyoffs.
I have noticed a small annoying behavior of autocad when adding certain characters to an MText object.
For example, if I have MText containing "hello" it will be at a different vertical position to MText containing "hello/". Autocad changes the vertical placement when adding characters it seems, possibly to avoid clashing.
Is there anyway to suppress the auto adjustment autocad makes to the vertical placement to accommodate these characters? I have the text elements spaced suitably from the line to avoid clashes but some wire numbers have characters and some don't, so it leaves the drawing looking somewhat messy. (see below)
Currently i have to adjust each wire number containing characters so it sits at the right vertical placement.

How do I fine tune the vertical position of text?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is a recent phenomonom, the shade of objects changes depending on their vertical position on the artboard. If I move an object from the top of the artboard to the bottom it becomes lighter, and these changes remain even after it is saved as a png- this is driving me crazy!!! it is very slight, but still enough to cause a headache. If you look at this image you can see that the top blue box is slightly darker than the blue box at the bottom, event though this is the exact same box copied and pasted down the artboard.

whenever I change a block, the numbering of new reinforcements restarts at "1" even when I had already
created al lot of reinfocement bars before changing the block.
Im trying to find a way to select just the vertical dimensions. Quick select doesn't work because it selects every dimension.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using the ED command in AutoCAD 2012. I have my texts verticals, but I want to edit them in horizontal position, however when I active the command and I select the text, the edit option appears in vertical position. What can I do to control this option? Is there some variable to control this option?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have some serious fight this morning with AutoCAD. I have to dimension my drawings properly so it can be build. I did some already, a few aligned dimensions in an layout snapping on modelspace objects. when i put them all is fine and right dimensions.
BUT after i saved, closed the file and opened it again those dimensions are everywhere exept where i put them originally. And no the modelspace objects are not moved.
How can this be? can i solve this? or is this a know bug for AutoCAD 2012? i can't check all the dimensions before publisching again and again.
I'm using a position field as an attribute for a block. This is what I use:
%<AcObjProp.16.2 Object(%<\_ObjId 2118086344>%).InsertionPoint f "%lu2%pt2%pr4%ps[+, M]%ct8[0.001]">%
What I would like to do is an arithmetic operation of addition, something similar to how 'CAL works. In this particular case I would like to add the value of 100,000 before the conversion factor, or 100 after the conversion factor.
What is the industry standard regarding horizontal vs. vertical scale? More specifically, should the exaggerated vertical scale be proportional to the horizontal scale?
For example, if I have a drawing that has a horizontal scale of 1" = 100', should my vertical scale be 1" = 10'? Or if my horizontal scale is 1" = 30', should my vertical scale be 1" = 3'? Obviously, we have the ability to make the vertical scale anything we want but what is there a recognized industry standard that correlates the horizontal scale to the vertical scale?
Is there any way to edit (remove) the "Lock position" mode of a visible attribute in a block once the block has been created? This characteristic does not show up in BATTMAN for editing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with the perpendicular function when I draw a line. It won't lock at a single point, instead it moves along an axis.
For example, when I want to draw a line in Y direction it moves in the X axis, and opposite if I draw in the X direction.
How can I make the perpendicular function lock to one position?Â
this in an issue ive noticed for a long time now across a few versions of ACAD, not sure whats causing it. When i try to draw an XLINE sometimes the command will get locked into either horizontal or vertical mode, without me choosing that option. seems to based on the OSNAP pickpoint i grab maybe.
attached are pics of the process.
i run XLINE, pick endpoint and bam, its locked into horizontal mode, very annoying if im trying to make a vertical and horizontal line based off the same point.
After closing and reopening my command prompt, I find that it is now at the bottom left of the screen and no longer part of the main graphics window. How can I get it to display at the bottom of the main display?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been using Elements 8 for some time and recently purchased an ASUS monitor that is at home in both vertical and horizontal modes. Can I change the Elements 8 format to work in a vertical format to accommodate the larger size possible with a vertical image. It is difficult to manipulate the functions in Elements when the mouse is working in a horizontal mode and you are viewing a large image in a vertical format. If the format of the Elements 8 software can be changes to vertical, any protocol (directions) to accomplish this?Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhile using the 3D extrude and bevel tool, specifically the isometric preset from the position drop down menu. I am noticing that when I expand the shape (in this case a perfect cube), the vertical paths are not exactly perfect, and are not truly vertical, but off slightly. Is this something that can be fixed or adjusted in the settings, or is this how the tool works?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there an easy way to ensure that the position of attributes on a block match the position on another block?
I just used the ATTIN command to upload a bunch of data to the block attributes on a drawing, and now the information is all over the place.
Instead of going through each one manually and repositioning the attributes (a VERY lengthy process), I want to use a "correct" version as a template of sorts to inform the other selected blocks of where to place the attributes and have it reposition the whole thing automatically.
Is this even possible?
I am using mtext and would like to put the ruler over the top of the text, not underneath it how do I change this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA fellow cagemate is having some trouble with his Text Editor and I swore I'd (Cadtutor) solve it for him.the top is of the Text Editor as it usually is with the width adjustment ruler on top, the bottom image is taken from his ACAD which as you can see does not have this ruler. This happened yesterday and we have not managed to restore it back to how it was.Has he turned it off somewhere? How can he get it back?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI choose the vertical type tool or the vertical type on a path tool or the vertical area type tool...and all I get are letters that are rotated 90 degrees clockwise that go down in a vertical line. The effect is the same as if I took one of these lines that I am typeing here and rotated the entire line 90 degrees clockwise. That is not the effect I want. I am tying to get vertical letters stacked on top of one another in a line going vertical. I watched videos and they simply pick the tool and it functions this way, but when I pick the same tool I do not get this vertical orientation of the individual letters, but the 90 degree rotated letter.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't figure out what to do to see the pixels like in the image below:
[URL]........
According to Adobe Photoshop CS3 Classroom in a Book, there's a ruler tool hidden behind the Eyedropper tool. All I see are the Eyedropper tool, the Color sampler tool, and the Count tool.
I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended, v10.0.1
How do I get the ruler tool?
I use the ruler tool a lot and hate the way it keeps reverting to the eye-dropper tool in the toolbar all the time! Is there a way to stop this from happening? If you use the ruler tool, then some other tools all seems okay until you save the image - at that point the ruler is replaced with the default eye-dropper tool. Therefore if you want to use it again you have to select it again which is a pain. Most tools seem to stay as they are when saving except the ruler. This was the same in CS3 by the way. I was hoping this might have been fixed in CS4. I'm using CS4ext in Vista Business.

I'd like to also be able to easily put a ruler in the scanned image to show the size of the item scanned. A layer that was transparent except for a ruler that ran along the sides and top of the image would be perfect. Can I create such an image and then paste it on top of each scanned image?
Is there an easier way to do what I want to do? Maybe something already in Photoshop, or some kind of plug-in?
