Path array of a point on spline, I’m wondering why the path array of a particular point on the spline doesn’t force the points to lie on the spline itself!

Is there a way one can draw a point array on a curve without starting from the beginning of the curve? I want to place point objects at equal intervals on a curve, but starting at a certain distance from the beginning of the curve.

I am trying to array a block using a polygon as path.
I'm trying to use the PATH array feature on 2013 to array stairs, and I can't get the array to be 100% accurate. It seems like CAD rounds the decimal to the nearest 3/4" which could be causing the problem.
I set my run to 10.5" and rise to 7.25", array along the angle of the stringer, and there's always a small overlap on the stairs. The "distance between" should be 1'-209/256" and CAD rounds it to 1'-3/4" which is where I believe the error is. Is there any way to fix this or array this correctly? Otherwise...back to the COPY method I suppose.
I am new here I am drawing a CAM that was designed, the CAM has a follower and after it it's attached to another turning piece, so you could say the whole thing is one big Bearing, you could call it a CAM Bearing. Anyway
I've drawn a set of circles along the path of the CAM (the circles are the follower), now I need to make a spline that fits that path. The problem is, that spline always intersects my circles. I need it to always stay tangent to the circles (ie. not intersect)
I have tried many ways and one way was to make the spline connect at the mid points of the circle but it still doesn't work.
I have attached some photos and also the DWG
What changed between acad lt 2007 and acad lt 2012. Cannot draw a simple 2 point spline curve in 2012. how I do it? Is it a sys variable changed somewhere?

But I thought I could also use the Path Array command using an ellipse as the path.
What I get is the replicated objects (small circles) following some totally random path. Strange that this happens only with an ellipse - seems to work OK if the path is a circle or spline.
Spline curve command has changed. This is terrible as I used to use simple line types to show different things on my drawings that was rapid fast with custom macros etc. Now the spline curve command does not work in same way costing me hours of time wasted. I have now resorted in saving all incoming drawings to older version and completing my drawings that way. Only problem is the new drawings are growing above the capabilities of my old machine.
How can I initiate the old std 2 point spline curve in the new software so it works the same way as old version?
Is there any way to fill inn attributes on individual blocks belonging to an associative path array?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a polyline defining a proposd wind farm access track and I have offset it 10m each side. I have then dreated a slope label between the southernmost end points which gives the existing ground slope at right angles to the centreline. I created the Array (as shown in arrayed.jpg) and it looked good but after hitting enter there were only three labels (after enter.jpg)
I did a rectangular array of slope labels with no problem at all so what's wrong with the way I'm doing the path??

I have a polyline path and a rhombus. I will like to array the rhombus along the polyline path. As you can see from the attached file, as the object rotates along the path, it shift off the path such that the distance between the rhombus and the path changes esp at the turn. How can I keep this distance between the rhombus object and the path constant?

When I use the arraypath command I:
1st - Select Object
2nd - Select path curve
3rd - Type in "I" for Item to change to my desire spacing.
I am creating a set of parametric stairs. All of my constraints are in place for my 2 main work points. I am now trying to make an associative path array to depict the stair treads. Path array works great initially, however when I change my variables for stair height, my stair treads tilt with my work line in such a way that they're no longer parallel to the floor.
The angle of the stairs must be variable as it will change from one set of stairs to another. All that said, I am wondering if there is some variable or command that will make the treads retain their ucs orientation regardless of the angle of my path line. I've tried every option while creating the array with no luck.
Trick to keeping objects aligned with a helix when using an associative path array? The animation below demonstrates the problem where I can't seem to keep the "treads" on a spiral stairs aligned with the center of the helix. (fewer objects accentuate the problem)

When i move the points of my spline sometimes it causes the whole spline to randomly move around and twist and turn where there are no points. Also sometimes when i open the drawing some of the spline lines are out of place while the spline points have not moved.I have tried to constrain all the points but it turned into a mess.How can i stop this from happening?
I have to animate a long tentacle like object eminating from something , wrapping around another object and pulling it backwards. I have been looking at splineIK,pflow and some other approaches but they only cover part of the animation I need.
I am playing with PFlow and I can get something to spawn along a spline path to wrap around the object but not sure how to simulate the thing retracting and pulling the object with it.
I know there must be a better way to do this.
I have problem with animating camera along a spline using path constraint. The spline has been spline normalized before added to the path constraint. Then I add besier floating to be able to slow down the camera.
The final camera seems to move not smoothly. This can notice especially when the camera are further away from the origin (0,0).
Some says it's because of Max's coordinates is not fine enough which can clearly proved when import autocad file which located very far from the origin into max and most vertex will be shifted from where it should be in Autocad.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make some 3d spline gears in autocad, I start by generating them in eMachineshop then importing into autocad, this works fine but the gear is imported as seperat lines so I can't extrude them, i also cant join the lines because after zooming in there are quite a few gaps. How I can join the lines together without manually connecting the dots? I'll include a copy of the gear, eMachineshop only outputs dxf files as far as i know.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy company just got all new computers and upgraded out AutoCAD to 2012 from 2009. And every single drafter has complained to me that the new Array is terrible. Basically, it seems to take 10 times as long to set up and array as it used to and now it's linking all of the objects together as a group which is absolutely terrible for what we do especially when we are making 4 or 5 columns or hundreds of objects. I cant find any classic or legacy array commands.
This really needs to be put back in because right now everyone is asking us to put AutoCAD 2009 back on the computers, and the whole reason we bought new PCs is because they couldn't run anything after 2009 without being too slow to be productive.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have drawn a bar counter in 3d which has a top rectangular shape with curved corners. The front of the bar has 100mm wide wooden fascia panels and they need to follow the line of the bar. I am using the Polar Array function which works great except I cant seem to get the panels to follow the curves/arcs around the corners, but they sit neatly on all the straight edges of the bar. So in other words the panels are straight and lined up on the straight parts of the bar but the panels stay at 90 degrees instead of following the curved areas of the bar.

I can grab the knot (also seems to be in the same place as the "fit point", yes?) and move it around, so why, why, WHY can't I use a dimensional constraint? View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create an external involute spline (ANSI B92.2M) Fillet Root Side Fit 26.9mm x 1 mm x 26 teeth x 38 mm long using the spline generator with Inventor 2012. I created a test shaft"M-182-AMA.ipt" that is Ø26.9 mm x 38 mm long with 1 mm radius on each end of shaft.
I use the following steps:
1. After creating component "M-182-AMA.ipt" I select Design tab>>Power Transmission>>Involute Spline.
2. A window appears that has the caption "Involute Splines Connection Generator".In the Dimensions section I choose "Splines Type: ANSI B92.2M - 37.5 deg, Fillet Root, Side Fit, 26 x 1.00 x 38 x 5H/5h" and change the Length to 38 mm.
3. In the Shaft Groove section I use Create new, and I push the Reference 1 button that turns blue, I then select the od feature from the model and I get an error(see attached pic "error1.jpg).
I changed the 26.9mm od to be 27mm and it still gave me the error.
