We have recently noticed that after printing a PDF of a drawing I plotted from AutoCAD we are coming up with differences when we double check the scale on the printed hardcopy using a carpenter ruler.
For example, there is a dimension labeled on the drawing of 200 ft. However, if I try to scale this out with a carpenter's ruler at the drawing was set to (say for instance it is 1 inch = 100 ft) I am coming up short of the 2 inches it should be (typically come up around an 1-15/16" or around 194 feet, approx 97% of the correct amount).
In the Page Setup Manager in AutoCAD, I have the following options selected (see the print screen as well):
Printer/plotter selected: DWG to PDF.pc3
Paper Size: ANSI full bleed B (11.00 x 17.00 Inches)
What to Plot: Layout
I don't have a plot scale scale other than the default 1" = 1'
No plot style selected
Then, on the print menu when I open the PDF that I have exported from AutoCAD, I have the following settings (see the print screens I have attached):
Printer: The printer I use (Konica Minolta c650 Series PCL)
And I have selected the Options "Auto Rotate and Center" and "Choose paper source by PDF page size**"
** Note, that I have tried unselecting the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option and accordingly changed the paper size in the "Page Setup..." button at the btoom to match the document size (i.e. 11.0 x 17.0in) and it gets the difference to be closer (i.e. I now get 198 ft but some of my border gets cut off). See the print screen below for this a print screen of the print menu and sub-menu of Page Setup showing the paper size selected.
I saw that some people in other forums state that there is no real solution when trying to scale off of PDF's and that there should be a disclaimer saying as much if you are to send the file out to a customer who may rely on doing some in the field scaling from the printed copy of the PDF file. I find it hard to believe there is no solution as we have received some drawings from others whom the scaling works just fine.
I was recently upgraded from AutoCAD 2005 to AutoCAD 2012. I set my interface to AutoCAD Classic. When I check the Measurement Tools (toolbar) the ribbon appears, but I can not move the toolbar. I run two displays, so the the measure tool shows up on one all the time.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAny command or lisp that will do new pollyline between two polyline on 1/3 or 1/4 space between them.
I need something that would be faster, use measure on pollilines then i draw between horizontall polylines on verteks or point new pollyline and ther divide it on 4 or 3 parts.
When I use the measure distance command, I have to exit out of the command before I move on to my next command. I'm used to measuring once and the command automatically exits (in previuos releases). Is there a variable that will exit the command after one measurement?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI work in autocad 2010 and I draw in scale 1:1 . What an annotation scale is, moreover I have never used annotative objects in my drawings.
Nonetheless, when I try to plot a drawing, while I am in the model view, I choose the scale in mm/units, I select the plot area and when I press preview or plot, I get the message THE ANNOTATION SCALE IS NOT EQUAL TO THE PLOT SCALE. DO YOU WANT TO CONTINUE?
I press yes, I print it and the outcome is always a bit smaller than it should be.
When i am in the layout mode and I try to plot, I dont get this message. But I dont know how scaling works in this case. For example I want to plot in a A4 paper, scale 1:100. So I type 1000mm/100units, as I did in the model mode, but the result is wrong.
For once I have to place many asymetric objects uniformly with Alignment along a convex circular arc (2D). So I try Measure or Divide using my Block but it flips my Block so it is aligned with the inside of the curve (closest to the curve centre) not the outside and the blocks are turned upside down. If I draw an arc concave up it plots OK. If I draw a Spline (single curve or reverse curve (S curve) in my desired orientation, it also plots OK.
I have tried all combinations of UCS but to no avail. The block is not dynamic so there has not been any Alignment set.
I want to chose the better, to start drawing. I use inches at work, but I want to use international system for myself for personal projects
I think there is a standard unit in files imported o r exported from another soft, smaller files, easier size to process by pc, quicker units to introduce, accurate, prototyping models soft compatibility, etc.
Any previous criteria for recommendation is perfect.
¿Which is the best measure units to use?
Spoiler (Highlight to read)
My scale list has metric list on it as it suppose to have both metric and imperial scale.
Screen shot..
Is there a way to modify the DEFAULT SCALE LIST to show a metric scale list in an imperial template? I mean, I start a drawing using the imperial template, but i want to use the standard metric scales on paper space. on previous versions the scale list shown both imperial & metric. Now it depends of what the template is using.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm trying to show some measurements in layout view. But when i dimension between 2 points i get the number 71,84. When i use the measure tool in model view i get 1150mm which is the correct length.
Sure there is some simple reason why the two arnt coming in with the same value. Also it isnt an issue with Units as i have checked both and they are both in millimetres.
In AutoCAD 2012 My dimension style/scale seems to change automatically. I'll add one dimension in paper space, and then the very next dimension will be in a different style. It will say 30" one time, then 400" the next. Seems like it picks its own scale randomly. It happens with the default dim styles as well as custom styles.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue printing to scale. When I print my drawings, the scale is about 4" over 100' out of scale (short) All of the settings are correct for plotting. This happens whether we print directly or to a pdf first. I know it is not just the plotter as I have tried three different printers with the same result. Also, I know it is not AutoCad as we are having the same issue printing from Microstation. I

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn paperspace I set the viewport scale to 1-1/2"=1'-0" on a ANSI D-size plot. But when plotted at (layout) 1:1, it comes out to be 1/8"=1'-0" on a engineering scale.
Explain Autodesk's logic?
Mirrored blocks with annotative attributes, I know I can scale each one individually, but there are over one hundred. It would be nice to use the properties box and type in the scale. As soon as I type in the "x" scale, y and z follow! I need to put in negatives in x only.
Why do y and z automatically follow x?!?!?
How do you get the spacing you want for a hatch? For example if using ANSI 31if under pattern scale you have 1.0 what spacing does 1.0 represent? If you want your lines 1'-0" apart how to you know what scale to use other than trail and error?

I have a rectangle shape (a 3D polyline) as in the attached DWG. I want to Offset, Scale, Extend (call it whaever you wish) so that the new 3D polyline (after the scale, offset or extend) is at the same plane as the original one.
Obviously the Z values of the new 3D polyline will be different from the original.
when i am i the viewports and use the "scl" shortcut click zoom to scale nothing will happen i can zoom use anno. in the lower right corner or propties.
is there a buttom or a prompt that needs to be fixed.
Am configuring many page setups and when printing/plotting there is a checkbox to scale lineweights. Was wondering what the consensus is on this. Should the check scale line weights box be checked, or not?

when i use layer translator, the resulted drawing comes with all layer ok but the linetypes scale does not.
I've got a problem with a title panel that we've created. We're using a new type font - VAGRounded-Thin - however when in paper space and we zoom in and out the text font enlarges or reduces as we scroll in and out with the mouse wheel. It's still coming out fine when printed [pdf and hardcopy] it's just on the screen.

I exported a DWG from sketchup, for version AutoCAD 2010.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've always been taught to set the LTSCALE to the scale of my vport, and set psltscale to 0 (Civil Design). And it has always worked great until I came to work at an Enviromental Consultant frims, that likes to mix units and do stuff the hard way. But thats beside the point.
I've read multiple post about setting the LTSCALE to 1 or .5 and leaving PSLTSCALE to 1 or whatever. There are TONS of post about it.
The reason I'm bringing it up is because EVERYBODY in my drafting department sets the LTS to 1, then manulipates the linetype scales individually threw the properties. This drives me absoutly insane!
So if I have a drawing that the vport is to 1:80, what should the LTSCALE and PSLTSCALE be set to?
We created a field that is grabbing an object, the property of the object is the standard scale. Fields will not show the scale, it instead shows the word custom. This appears to be a AutoDesk bug. Please see the attachment.
