Mar 18, 2012Is it possible to see the person/computer used to save a drawing file last? It will be handy to know so we can keep track of who is saving what.

View 8 RepliesI run the CUI command, and use the command search to find an old macro command that I created a while back. I edit the macro in the right-hand pane and then click APPLY, and then OK to exit the CUI. But the changes that I made are not there - when I run the command in AutoCAD, it executes the old version of the macro.
So I tried it again, only this time I exited out of AutoCAD and re-launched. Still nothing.
This is very strange, because I've been composing and editing macros (attached to toolbar buttons) with CUI for years, and this is the first time I've ever had this problem. But it is worth noting that this is the first time I've tried to do this in our current version of ACAD, which is 2012 vanilla.
Everytime I try to open my saved drawing, it just opens autocad 2012 with drawing1. I've been working on this drawing for weeks, and have saved and opened it many times without problem, and was working on it this morning and saved it again. Now, i've come back and it will no longer open. I can open other saved dwg files no problem. I've tried renaming the .bak file as a .dwg but that still won't work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn 2011 every so often I get this error "One or more objects in this drawing cannot be saved to the specified format. The operation was not completed and no file was created." This happens and I just go and click file or regen and sometimes it just saves the file other times it does not.

Windows Server 2008 r2
Data stored on a network share
Network licenses on a separate server
My problem started when we moved all of the users data to a new Windows 2008 r2 server. Searching and file navigation was slow so we turned on Windows Search service. Greatly improved network searches (users do content as well as file name searches).
Then Autocad started having errors when trying to save or create dwf files. The error "One or more objects in the drawing cannot be saved to the specified format. The operation was not completed and no file was created." Users can save the drawing to the local drive without the error.
I have a Object made in Maya and it was saved as dwg file so i can place some dimensions on the object, it is a compose solid with this i mean that i has a solid inside another solid, how can i edit this? I have to dimension all the views (top, right, front) for both solids.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow to plot (draw) the xy data saved in a CSV file?
I’m not sure if there is an enhanced workflow to plot the xy coordinates saved in an CSV file in the AutoCAD 2012.
I found the approach below in the web
----------
1.Open the Excel file.
2. Save it as a .CSV file (comma separated values).
3. Open the .CSV file in notepad, add two lines at the top:
._multiple
._point
4. Then save this file with a .SCR file extension.
5. In AutoCAD run the ._Script command, and pick the .SCR file above.
I created a new settings to print some of our drawings, I changed the page orientation from portrait to landscape and saved to a .pmp file (this is the printer settings file), closed the plotter.
I re-opened the plotter, selected the recent .pmp file, went to the orientation part and saw the portrait is in selection instead of landscape selection.
We are using AutoCad 2012 in Win 7 with OS 64-bit.
We have all of our job files stored on our network. If you open a sheetset from one of those network folders, it will open normally, you can view and scroll thru it normally, but the second you select / right click anything, it locks up cad (grey screen) and shows us the hourglass for 3-6 minutes, and then allows you to work with it, but with a 10-20 second delay on anything you try to do. If you copy the same job folder to the C Drive, and re-open the sheetset, it operates perfectly. Running a constant ping to our server returns a <0ms return with no lost packets.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe’re working in AutoCAD 2010 but need to save as 2007 DWG. AutoCAD is set in Options to save to 2007 format, and all files - host and reference - are or should be in that format.
Something is triggering an automatic save of the xrefs. The xrefs are not being edited, in-place or otherwise, but every so often I get a balloon message saying the xref has changed and I need to update it. So I update it, and when I check the file format, I find it’s been saved in 2010 DWG.
Other people on the project are also having this problem. Engineers on this project are using 2009 and keep coming to us and asking where the xrefs are.
This is AutoCAD 2010, "English Version 3" running in XP2 SP3.
why few of the drawings processed in Autocad 2004 version and saved in autocad 2000 cannot be opened in different Autocad version such as 2012
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to customise my drawing templates to keep them up to date and also include accountability.I seem to be having trouble in including the name of the person who has last saved the model, and the date the model was last saved.
Manually including this information isn't ideal as people will forget, and it makes it harder to trace revisions.I can't see anywhere on the iProperties where the 'Last saved by' feature is available, but I thought maybe the information could be pulled from the username from the application options?
The last saved date should be easy, as there is a modified date in the model's iproperties; however, I cannot pull this information.I have used other cad packages in the past and this was never an issue. With all the customisation of Inventor, I thought this would be relatively straight forward.
I removed color info and reset to greyscale, yet I still get a pink hue when I save as a pdf.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a capstone lab project due tomorrow for my graphic arts class and I made a HUGE mistake!!! I created an image using 20 something layers and did SAVE AS as a .xcf image (with all layers open). Part of the project was to save in different formats: .xcf (with open layers), a .png, and a .jpeg (optimized). So, I did the first save and then flattened the image to SAVE AS a .png with a different file name.
Long story short, I was tired and had way too many images open at once. When I was closing all of the images I accidentally saved the changes (flatten image) to my original .xcf (with open layers)!!!! Now, my .xcf that is supposed to have open layers only has one layer...the finished project!! I tried going to the file properties to restore a previous version, but it says that no previous versions were found! I also downloaded a norton "unerase" utility, but maybe I am not scanning properly to locate the file!?!
When a raw file badge shows that the file has been changed, I use Metadata Save to File & for the large majority of my images, the badge goes away and Metadata Status Changed does not show the file. For some of my files, however, the Save to File command doesn't work properly. If I am only displaying files with changes, the file briefly disappears, then returns. Even if I go to Windows Explorer and delete the xmp file, then again Save metadata to file, it pops up again with the badge saying it needs to be saved. I'm using Lightroom 4.3 64 bit on Windows 7.

I have a client that cannot save his drawing and have be in a "Saved" state. When doing an e-transmit (for example) it tells him that the drawing hasn't been saved and if he wants to save the file. He clicks YES and then it tells him the drawing hasn't been saved and asks him if he wants to save it.
It seems to be isolated to this file. If he works in a different file, it works just fine. Also, I had him send me the files (via e-transmit) and I was not able to replicate the problem so, it seems to have something to do with this particular file on his system.
My question then is, can something be embedded into the file that will cause something to happen directly after a save (like a reactor)?
He's using Civil 3D 2012 but I don't think it's anything directly related to Civil 3D.
I am wanting to save all of my menus, toolbars, templates etc. so I can put them on my new computer. I am using autocad LT 2010. I have looked everywhere for the files on my C drive and can't find them anywhere. On other versions I could copy them to a flash drive and then onto another computer. I tried going through the user interface but I couldn't get anything to save. It did make a .cui file but I didn't know where to copy that to on the new computer.

In a multi-document autocad session, after making changes programmatically in all drawings opened, when closing autocad, I'm only asked to save the changes for the current drawing. The others drawings are closed without asking to save them. The changes are made as I'm expected, but autocad don't aks to save the modified drawings.

Is there an automated backup for files that are not saved a single time? I have set automaticly backup every 5 minutes, but that seams only to work on files u have saved at least one time.
Did i just lost my whole work because automatic backup system is not activated on new files that are not saved yet?
My friend was working on a file and did certain amount of work and then saved it. After an hour when he opened it again, all the work that he did was not showing. But it shows up in the preview icon of the autocadd file.
As such no layer is frozen / hidden / locked.
I get the message "One or more objects cannot be saved to the specified format" when using Architecture 2011 and 2012. My other other machines running the same software have no problem. Have purged and audited but it still does it.
