AutoCAD 2010 :: Custom Linetpye With Solid Hatched Circle?
Mar 5, 2013
Is it possible to make a linetype with a circle that is hatched solid? I made a shape file of the hatched circle, created a line type with a distance of 15 feet and when I change a line to the newly created linetype my linetype looks I just created a dot line type.

I am trying to create a custom linetype with solid circles at a specified distance along the custom linetype (see attachment). I have tried using a shape, the special Wingding character but cannot get the result I want. I've tried the hatching method, again with no luck. I've went through the discussion groups, online content, etc. but cannot get it to generate the line the way I want. I see a few people that have been successful but I cannot get it to work.

How can I remove the lines in the middle after I press and pull the objects.
Attached is the Untitle.jpg, to make more clearer to you. Blue is the wall and skyblue is the aquarium. I want the back and the front of the aquarium don't have any line in the middle but even I do shade command the fill of the color is still there. Cause if I explode and delete the line in the middle the colors that fill the aquarium are getting rid off See Untitled 2.Jpg to see what I mean. And also how can make the aquarium Untitle 3.jpg transparent?

We are a firm using ACAD 2011 w/ a custom toolbar that has an Auto Purge "tool" it currently deletes duplicated layers, reg ops, duped scales etc. we are wondering what else it can do (or any other tools that may be of use) or how can we get it to do more for us, like restrict referencing files from "unwanted" locations and any other tools that are essential to reducing the size of a drawing so its now so slow

I'm using AutoCAD Mechanical 2010 and received a .DXF file that contains 'solid' objects. Unfortunately the next tool in my workflow doesn't understand 'solids' only polylines (and a few other basic shapes like circles, lines, etc). Is there some way to convert the object in AutoCAD?
I tried the 'boundary' command but when it asks to 'Pick Points' and I click inside the solid, it always gives the error 'Valid hatch boundary not found'.
What am I missing here?

The part I am detailing is a cast iron part, and I have appropriately changed the material appearance to match. On the IDW, a section view shows in the hatched area the same material as the non-hatched area. BUT, as we know, when we cut a cast iron part in half, the cut section of the part looks different then the outside.
Is there a way I can change the material appearance of the sectioned area of the part on the IDW, so it appears more obvious that it's a cut section?

When I was using AutoCad 2010 I could HATCH within a cube, circle or within any object that was joined together even if it had text in it would HATCH within the boundaries of the area to be hatched. Now that I use AutoCad 2013 this option does not work as if there is text in the object only a partial area will become hatched. This means I have to MOVE the cube or whatever shape to a place where there is no text inside it, HATCH and then move it back to where I wanted it in the first place.

When I use the "Plot" command the rectangular drawing on the right side that is normally hatched to indicate the area to be plotted appears as being blank. I have been using the "Windows" option to define the extent of the plot. When the "Preview" command is used the plot appears as a blank screen.
I have tried various attempts to make this hatched drawing reappear but without success. I know that this needs to be present before I can successfully plot the drawing.

When initiating the hatch command H at the command line my panel changed to the hatch panel. Now the command opens the more traditional hatch dialog. I don't how it happened, but just when i was getting used to the panel.
When editing a hatched area the panel appears. Why when I stretch some hatched geometry does not the adjacent hatch stretch with it?

Basically for example (to make this easy to understand) I've got 4 squares with hatches inside and im trying to select one single hatched area in one of the squares (and delete it). But upon selecting it it's selecting the hatches in the other 3 squares (as they were added at the same time). I've carried out a few searches in google etc and experimented with "pickstyle" but with no avail, also I've looked at groups but there are none in the drawing(so I can't ungroup).
I can do it (which I've just realised) by deselecting the boundaries in "edit hatch" but just wondered if there was a quicker way?

What is the smallest object I can draw and "SEE" in AutoCAD? I was hoping to prove a point in my introductiory AutoCAD class, but it appears I have been lying!! I tried to draw a cirlce with a diameter of 1.24E-10m. The dot shows up, but I cannot zoom to it. I tried using an enormous zoom scale, but did not have any luck. I am almost positive my instructor introduced the capabilites of AutoCAD by drawing a full scale helium atom, and that was release 14. Is this still possible? Obviously the atom can be drawn, but what are the zoom limitations?

I have a solid of a vortex breaker for a nozzle in a cone, from which I subtracted the cone. But when I attempt to subtract the nozzle as well, it will not subtract. I have verified that both entities are solids. I copied them into a new drawing by themselves. I even rebooted my computer--all to no avail. I have attatched a drawing of the two solids.

Is it possible to get grip points on a circle at 45-dgree increments rather than at 90-degree increments - that is, at 45, 135, 225 & 315 degrees? (Preferably in addition to the 90-180-270-360 grips, but temporarily instead of would work also)

As often done in mechanical drawings, a circle is drawn around a detail in the main drawing, and the detail is displayed somewhere else on the drawing on a larger scale.
My detail is the small rectangle in the upper right corner of the larger rectangle. I have also drawn a dash-dot-dot circle object around that corner to designate the detail-area.
In layout 1 the top left viewport displays the "whole" drawing. I also created a circular viewport to display the detail on a larger scale.
In the circular viewport, I used zoom-to-object (and selected the dash-dot-dot circle). The result is visible :both circles (object & viewport) are still visible, and they are not concentric too.
I thought the zoom command would have zoomed until both circles overlapped eachother and were concentric...

I'm having problems with creating PDF's and transparency hatching using DWG to PDF.pc3.
The PDF does show transparency but has a fine lined pattern at intervals in the hatched area, it does print just fine though with no evidence of the lined pattern. Only problem is most of our work is supplied as high quality PDF.
I prefer to use DWG to PDF.pc3 due to the excellent quality of the PDF. I have played with modified Adobe PDF.pc3 to mostly remove the lines from the hatch but quality suffers in the bitmapping of the document.
I am using AutoCAD Map3D 2011 and AutoCAD 2011 on a windows 7 boxes and Acrobat X Pro. I get this problem with normal solid hatching and SHP file polygon transparency.
Are they any secret/magic settings to fix solid hatch transparency using DWG to PDF.pc3?

I am working on a design project for a class i am in, i need to make a model of the design solution i come up with. since my design has curved walls, how to take my AutoCad model and convert the faces to something where i could print them out on paper and make the model. I need to basically unroll them as if i was flattening them on a sheet of paper. i have tried flatshot and flatten, my difficulty with these is that it does not take the entire object length along the curve, it will only take the distance that can be seen on the screen. I know this is possible with 3ds max as a friend of mine did it that way, but i don't know how to use 3ds max so that doesnt work for me.

I'm using Autocad 2012. I've created a 3D model, one of the components of the solids model, I've assigned a transparency value t which appears in the model, and in the orthographic layout view, and plotted as I need and expect it to. The problem I'm having is that in other layout views, other components include a Dots hatch (I've inserted this dots hatch pattern in both paper and model space in attempt to fix the problem). This Dots hatch appears as I need and expect on the computer screen, but when I plot the layout drawing this hatch pattern plots transparent too, even though it resides on completely different layer than the solid component that I do want transparent. I want the hatch pattern to plot opaque, not transparent (in other words the dots appear very, very light....almost invisible when I plot).

I created a 3D math surface using 3DPLOT. However my outcome is a polyface mesh and I need to convert it to a solid. I have already tried the "Convert to Solid" & "Convert to Surface" options in the Mesh tab but I get "Mesh not converted because it is not closed or it self-intersects." I also tried the f2s.lsp but I am unsure on how to select my object.
Here is my drawing.
It is basically a 3D plot of cos(x) + cos(y).
