AutoCAD 2010 :: 2 Files Open - Upon Quitting Of 1 File Other File Goes Black
Jun 10, 2012
When I have 2 files open, one minimized and the other visible on the screen, when I quit the file showing on the screen and then open the one that was minimized, it comes up w/a blank black screen. There is no way I have found to get the info in the file to display.
Then, if I save the blank screenof previously minimized file, close it then reopen it the info is back on screen with changes made to the file intact.
As an engineering company we have started to convert hundreds of our drawings from AutoCAD to PDF using a batch utility.
However every file that is converted into a PDF file is opened by a PDF Viewer. We want to prevent this.
I opened my *.pc3 file and removed the check from the appropriate box. See below
I press OK, then save the file and close. However when I reopen the file, I see the box for Openining in PDF Viewer has been rechecked. No matter what I do, I cannot permanently remove the check from this box.
I have encountered a problem when attempting to save my DWG. A message appears quickly then the program closes, or the program will just instantly close when I hit save. I am using Cad 2012 on a macbook pro. see the attached file that is a screenshot of the pop-up that I receive.
I have autocad civil 3d 2008 in my pc. From last 2 days I got a different problem i.e. when I am selecting open / save command from File menu graphical file select explorer is not opening just message in the command window . Previously I used to select files using graphical file explorer.
I'm working in AutoCAd 2012. I tried to open a set of working drawings that i've been working on. The file won't open. So far, with no success, I've tried:
a) renaming the .bak file as a dwg and opening it.
b) inserting the file in a new drawing
c) inserting the file as an xref in the new drawing
d) using recover to recover and fix the file
e) using recover to open the backup file
f) using the partial open command to open the file.
I use auto cad 2010.In my computer .dwg file is deleted but .bak is in my computer but when i rename the .bak file to .dwg file but it not open in auto cad 2010.
I'm having a problem that my file dialog box won't open when I go to open, new or save as. When I hit open, new or save as the command bar wants you to type the file name. My co-worker told me to type CMDDIA and change it to 1. But that didn't work for my error. How to fix my AutoCAD issue. I attached a .jpg of what the command bar looks like when I hit the open button.
I downloaded a model of guitar as .dxf file from here. But somehow it opens like the image attached below. I've changed the visual style to realistic but it seems, its all just lines and no solid body.
The file autocad 2010 (dwg) that I've been working for ages doesn't open. It starts loading but then get stuk on 96%. I tried to recover it and no errors are detected.
we have a new lab in our district with Autocad 2010 64-bit version installed on HP Compaq 8022 Elite SFF computers. There is 4 GB memory on the computers and a Quadro 400 graphics card. Autocad and Windows 7 64-bit have both been updated to the latest versions. The Autocad application locks up almost every time someone chooses the new document icon, or when they try to 'save as'. Sometimes when they choose to open a new document first, close that dialogue box, then try to choose the new document icon it works ok. But, for the most part, the application is unuesable. Some possible solutions we found online that don't work are to not use the Aero themes (we don't) and to not use Norton AV (we don't).
I installed AutoCAD on my pc with windows 7 and to complete the installation I had to change the registry file EULA from 0 to 1. Now it works but when I try to open an existing file it crashes.
I am having issues with my computer completely freezing while performing a File, Open process. I'm in drawing 1, I save it, then go to open drawing 2. Drawing 1 will save, the open file window pops up. With me so far? While navigating through the file directory tree, my computer freezes. I do not chose a file that freezes during opening. It is during the process of getting to the folder drawing 2 resides in, and then it freezes. This happens to me multiple times a day. Ctrl +Alt+Delete will not work. I have tried letting my computer sit, as you would with a program not responding, and it doesn't unfreeze. The only option I am left with is a hard reboot. The only other program I have running is my MS Outlook.
I have been back and forth with our IT person, and because he can't replicate the problem (after trying one file open), he can't figure it out, or doesn't want to.
I am running AutoCad 2012 with a Dell Precision T3500, 2.13ghz, intell xenon E5506 processor, and 4gb of RAM. After looking at the system requirements, and reading that 2012 needs a 3.0 or higher processor, could this be the route of my issue?
I used to be able to save as and browse to the file where I want to sane or open a file
Now I get a dialog box where I can only save to the default location or manually enter the path and file name
Same with opening a file - I go file open and it is gives a path to the last file I used. There is option to browse - how I get this back to the normal function of open/save by browsing?
I am making an excel spreadsheet that has a list of all the drawings we have on file, an inventory list per say. I have all of the drawings hyperlinked.
There's probably a simple explanation, but if I have a file open for a long time in Photoshop the blacks will start to appear oversaturated/blocked up. If I close and reopen file it looks normal again.
I am using OS X Lion, Photoshop 5, Apple 30" Cinema display. My monitor is calibrated with a i1 Display by X-Rite and resets according to amibent light.
I'm working with both Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 on a mac. I'm creating a graphic. The background is a (cartoonish) mouth and I finished it a couple of days ago. (It's an Illustrator file.) I've been working on the letters to go inside of the mouth, (Once I'm finished it'll look as though they're being crushed.) I scanned and edited small wooden letters in Photoshop, and now I would like to work with them with the background in Illustrator. I understand how to open a Photoshop file in Illustrator, but I don't want to open the document as a separate Illustrator file. Is there a way to open a file from Photoshop as a second layer?
Some of the letters repeat as well. Will I have to create two files for this, or can I open the same file twice?
today i was working with the Autodesk 2011 when the first problem started with rendering, i tried to render but the image was not good, it was like the rendering process did not 100% finished but stopped.
It then become more serious since i tried to render with some different mental rays, at a point it crashed while rendering and exit the application.Next thing that happened was a crash when i tried to clone a set of objects,i got an error stating that there was not enough memory and the application has to shut down.
Then i decided to uninstall it and go with 2010 because i remeber it worked great previously. Once i did install 2010 i tried to open my 2011 file and i got this message:
I was wondering if there was an option to set Inventor to display the full file path for the current file open ? At present I am only seeing a short description of the name of the active file - I wish to see it's full file path similar to what AutoCAD displays.

I'm using Autocad Civil3D 2011, Version 3. Just yesterday I noticed that the file date shown in Autocad's open file dialog box shows an earlier time than Windows Explorer, which shows the file date and time correctly. When I enter the "time" command on the autocad command line, the correct time is shown for the "last updated" time.
For example:
The Autocad open file dialog box shows the file having a time/date of 4/23/2013 3:54 PM
Windows Explorer shows the file having a time/date of 4/23/2013 4:10 PM
"TIME" command at autocad prompt returns the following:
Current time: Wednesday, April 24, 2013 3:55:35:454 PM Times for this drawing: Created: Thursday, March 27, 2008 5:49:57:104 PM Last updated: Tuesday, April 23, 2013 4:10:56:299 PM Total editing time: 17 days 15:31:26:967 Elapsed timer (on): 17 days 15:31:26:967 Next automatic save in: 0 days 00:09:58:237
I rebooted and restarted autocad, and resaved my file with the same results (although with different times-but again the autocad open file dialog box showed an incorrect, earlier time). I have never had this problem before, and it is driving me crazy as I usually sort my files by date to assure that I am working with the latest file.
is possible to retrieve the information of the reference in the iam file without open the file in session ? Opening with notepad the iam file, at the end of file, the references is contains in the planar text.
Is possible to retrieve documentation for this request ?
I am unable to use the file command open, new etc. I click on open and nothing happens no file box opens. As soon as you do anything else the program says not responding and you have to close it down. I can click on an autocad file in windows explorer and bring up the file this way but as soon as you try any file command such as save as the program freezes again. I am running windows 7 professional and the autocad LT 2011 64 bit program.
