How to make a synchronization between the scene in After Effects and PSD file?
Such a problem - was created composition from PSD, I made animations in AE, and then in the PSD appeared new layers that are not picked up automatically like old layers.
I know this isn't specifically photoshop, but I wasn't sure where to post it! Apologies if it's in the wrong place. We're looking for file synchronization software to replace our current backup software. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Our current backup software (WinBackUp) is great, but we're backing up 60gb of current files at a time, so the file sizes for a wrapped up backup file are too big for comfort. It would also be easier to have access to exact copies, instead of having to unwrap a backup. CD backups are made separately, so the sync software is just to backup to our 3rd backup drive. A RAID setup is being discounted for now, as we just want it backing up overnight.
In After Effects CC/CS6 how do u copy a scene and unlink it from the orginal source? It doesn't matter if I copy or duplicate a scene, it will also change it in the original..I have some text I want to change in the copied/duplicate scene, the rest I want it to be the same.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm starting to get into video compositing a bit and I was wondering what your opinions are on the best program to use - 3ds Max or After Effects? Basically I'm shooting some live footage, solving for the camera motion in PFTrack, and I want to composite 3D objects/effects into my scene. Of course all of my modeling and animating will have to be done in Max, but which is the better program to use for actually Compositing it all together? Is it better to import the camera track into Max, set up the whole scene with lighting and cameras and everything, set the environment background as the original footage, and render it all in one shot? Or is it better to just render the models as an image sequence in Max (with alpha channel) and actually put the layers together in After Effects?
So far I've done a few test shots in 3ds Max alone, but it seems like most people prefer to composite in After Effects. What are the advantages/ disadvantages to each? It would be great to hear from people who have actually done this before.

The Issue as the title suggests is light source flickering off the asteroids... the asteroids were created using VCP plug in "Element 3D"
I havent had much experience using element as this is the first time I have tried it.. The light source is just standard AE light set to spot. It doesnt seem to make any difference changing it to "point" light or anything else.
I tried a few renders with different settings.. quicktime with sorenson 3 codec and animation codec didnt seem to do anything but I dont know alot about codecs to be honest
I've also posted a 4 sec vid for you to see my issue.. the flickering only seems to exist directly on the edge of some of the asteroids.
UPDATE --- Now that I have uploaded it to youtube for this forum post alot of the flickering seems to have dissapeared.. theres still a little I hope you can see it.. The anomoly is still very strong tho before uploaded....strange !
I try to make railings for a scene using the modifier but there is something that does not seem to be correct. The path works fine but the railing does not seem to be straightened. No additional modifiers work above the path so I can not use the FFD or whatever.

I want to make the [image 1s] longer than 1s but cannot drag it's end or modify the second field any bigger. It wont accept.
Also cannot move the video after it because it always remove the gap. So how to make middle image stay longer ?
when I am in Nitrous display mode the Xref scene functionality is broken. I can load an xref scene but can't make it display as box. If I check the "Box" field nothing happens. Everything works ok though when in Direct3D or OpenGL display mode.

My old scene has a "render output" path to a no longer exists netzwork drive. This slow down max on save. Don't know why max access the output path on save ;( Slow down is also the Assert Tracking dialogue and "Render Output/Files..." Dialogue... Maybe max always tries to access the not existing network drive, every time ;(

What I want is basically to create effects that can be used in life event to the streaming music.
I have a maya designed animation model file (filename.ma) with 3000 frames. I want to split it into 3 maya scene files each of which have 1000 frames.
How can I do this in Maya 2012?
I recently installed OSX LR4, and was happily using it for a couple days on an upgraded LR3 catalog, but now when I go to synchronize any folder it will say (for example):
Import new photos (252)
Removing missing photos from catalog (252)
If I click "Show Missing Photos", it shows all the photos, and if I go to "Show In Finder" they are all there and there seems to be no recently modified files or anything suspicious looking. If I go ahead with the synchronization, I lose all the metadata, settings, etc from the photos. I also tried opening the old catalog in LR3 and the same issue exists.
Why is Lightroom doing this? File permissions maybe?
I have added some folders to my LR5 catalogue. When synchronizing, it counts numerous new photos, but at the end, it gives me the message that no new pictures were found.I tried the same just with single folders, one for example with roughly 200 photos, no videos.

But Lightroom 4 simply hangs up at 92% (according to task manager) of the task for at least 10 minutes. After the hang up, the new pictures were not found. No such behavior with Lightroom 3.
I'm using the 64 bit version on a Win 7 64 bit machine (AMD processor and AMD ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card).
Each time I am trying to do something with Corel VideoStudio X6, I have a new issue. This time, when I try to play the preview of my full video, image blocks all the times, I have to hit the space bar two times to pause and resume playback, then it takes more than 30 seconds before playback resumes. I tried to encode the video, it worked, but after around 15 minutes, audio and video get out of sync.
I tried to contact Corel technical support and they could not do anything for me. They suggested me to install the Service Pack 1: installer pretends VideoStudio is not installed because I have an almost-full SSD and put VideoStudio in my data drive. Adding a second SSD would not solve the problem, because this would just create a new drive, and replacing the current SSD with a bigger one forces me, AGAIN, to reinstall everything! Then they suggested me to again reinstall Corel VideoStudio, but this takes hours and hours, because it tries to redownload everything and this is always waiting and blocking (and I DON'T know what to check if I have, AGAIN, to check my Internet connection).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to LR4 (on OS X 10.7.4), but this problem was also present in the previous version.I usually move photos around using the OS X Finder (as sometimes they are outside my Lightroom catalog). To make the updates available in Lightroom I've always used the "Synchronize Folder" option. It did work perfectly for some time, but lately that is not the case.For example, here's a folder called "Parents".I added some photos to it using Finder, then tried to sync it.
Normally Lightroom would find the new files and allow me to import them. What happens here is that Lightroom wants to remove all the photos that already exist in the folder (and Lightroom catalog) and then re-import all of them + the new ones.
First I tried to select "Import new photos -> Show import dialog" and import only the new photos. That didn't work, too. (Please see the image below; however in this sample I've chosen to import/remove all of them).
As you can see Lightroom re-imports the folder as a top-level folder, but it should be a subfolder to "Other". When I try to move it manually to "Other" I get an error message that tells me that I can't do that as a folder with the same name is already there.
I do not wish to have the backup/syncronization feature activated. How do I turn it of, keep it off, and have that remote folder of my pictures deleted?
